أَخْبَرَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ سُفْيَانَ الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمُؤْمِنِ الْمُقْرِئُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي عَتِيقٍ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، سَمِعْتُ عَائِشَةَ تُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " السِّوَاكُ مَطْهَرَةٌ لِلْفَمِ ، مَرْضَاةٌ لِلرَّبِّ " . قَالَ أَبُو حَاتِمٍ : أَبُو عَتِيقٍ هَذَا اسْمُهُ : مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ أَبِي بَكْرِ بْنِ أَبِي قُحَافَةَ ، لَهُ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رُؤْيَةٌ ، وَهَؤُلاءِ أَرْبَعَةٌ فِي نَسَقٍ وَاحِدٍ ، لَهُمْ كُلُّهُمْ رُؤْيَةٌ مِنَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَبُو قُحَافَةَ ، وَابْنُهُ أَبُو بَكْرٍ الصِّدِّيقُ ، وَابْنُهُ عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، وَابْنُهُ أَبُو عَتِيقٍ ، وَلَيْسَ هَذَا لأَحَدٍ فِي هَذِهِ الأُمَّةِ غَيْرِهِمْ .
Lady Aisha Siddiqa (may Allah be pleased with her) narrates: The Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "The miswak cleans the mouth and is a means of earning the pleasure of the Lord." (Imam Ibn Hibban, may Allah have mercy on him, says:) The narrator named Abu Atiq is Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr bin Abu Quhafa. He saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). These four individuals belong to one lineage. (That is, they are father, son, grandfather, and grandson among themselves.) All of them saw the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). Sayyiduna Abu Quhafa (may Allah be pleased with him), his son Sayyiduna Abu Bakr Siddiq (may Allah be pleased with him), his son Sayyiduna Abdur Rahman bin Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with him), and his son Abu Atiq (that is, Muhammad bin Abdur Rahman, may Allah be pleased with him). No one else in this Ummah has this distinction, (that is, that four generations of theirs are companions).
