Hadith 106

أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ قُتَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا يُونُسُ ، عَنِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَرَجَ حِينَ زَاغَتِ الشَّمْسُ ، فَصَلَّى لَهُمْ صَلاةَ الظُّهْرِ ، فَلَمَّا سَلَّمَ قَامَ عَلَى الْمِنْبَرِ ، فَذَكَرَ السَّاعَةَ ، وَذَكَرَ أَنْ قَبْلُهَا أُمُورًا عِظَامًا ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " مَنْ أَحَبَّ أَنْ يَسْأَلَنِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ فَلْيَسْأَلْنِي عَنْهُ ، فَوَاللَّهِ لا تَسْأَلُونِي عَنْ شَيْءٍ إِلا حَدَّثْتُكُمْ بِهِ مَا دُمْتُ فِي مَقَامِي " ، قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : فَأَكْثَرَ النَّاسُ الْبُكَاءَ حِينَ سَمِعُوا ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَأَكْثَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَقُولَ : " سَلُونِي سَلُونِي " ، فَقَامَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ حُذَافَةَ ، فَقَالَ : مَنْ أَبِي يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " أَبُوكَ حُذَافَةُ " ، فَلَمَّا أَكْثَرَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنْ أَنْ يَقُولَ : " سَلُونِي " بَرَكَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ عَلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ ، قَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، رَضِينَا بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا ، وَبِالإِسْلامِ دِينًا ، وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَسُولا ، قَالَ : فَسَكَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حِينَ قَالَ عُمَرُ ذَلِكَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى الِلَّهِ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ ، لَقَدْ عُرِضَ عَلَيَّ الْجَنَّةُ وَالنَّارُ آنِفًا فِي عُرْضِ هَذَا الْحَائِطِ ، فَلَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ فِي الْخَيْرِ وَالشَّرِّ " .
Ibn Shihab narrates: Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) told me: One day, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) came out after the sun had declined. He led the people in the Zuhr prayer. When he finished the prayer with salam, he stood on the pulpit. He mentioned the Day of Resurrection and mentioned that before it, some great astonishing (events will occur). He said: Whoever wants to ask me anything about anything, let him ask me about it while I am standing in this place. By Allah! Whatever you ask me about, I will inform you about it. Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates: When the people heard this from the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him), they began to weep more, and the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) repeatedly said: Ask me! Ask me! Then Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Hudhafah (may Allah be pleased with him) stood up. He said: O Messenger of Allah! Who is my father? He said: Your father is Hudhafah. When the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) kept saying: Ask me, Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him) knelt down on his knees. He said: O Messenger of Allah! We are pleased with Allah as our Lord, with Islam as our religion, and with Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) as our Messenger. (That is, we have faith in them.) The narrator says: When Sayyiduna Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) said this, the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) became silent. Then the Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "By Him in Whose hand is my soul, just now Paradise and Hell have been presented before me on this wall, and I have never seen good and evil (together) as I have seen today."
