Hadith 1026

أَخْبَرَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ الْهَمْدَانِيُّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ السَّرْحِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ غَيْلانَ التُّجِيبِيُّ ، عَنْ دَرَّاجٍ أَبِي السَّمْحِ ، عَنْ أَبِي الْهَيْثَمِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ الْخُدْرِيِّ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْكُفْرِ وَالْفَقْرِ " ، فَقَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَيَعْتَدِلانِ ؟ قَالَ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَعَمْ " .
Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates about the Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): He used to say: "O Allah! I seek refuge with You from disbelief and poverty." A man submitted: "O Messenger of Allah! Are these two equal?" The Noble Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes."
