Hadith 1024

أَخْبَرَنَا عِمْرَانُ بْنُ مُوسَى بْنِ مُجَاشِعٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يُونُسُ بْنُ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ مَيْمُونٍ ، قَالَ : حَجَجْتُ مَعَ عُمَرَ بْنِ الْخَطَّابِ رِضْوَانُ اللَّهِ عَلَيْهِ حَجَّتَيْنِ ، إِحْدَاهُمَا : الَّتِي أُصِيبَ فِيهَا ، وَسَمِعْتُهُ يَقُولُ بِجَمْعٍ : أَلا إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ يَتَعَوَّذُ مِنْ خَمْسٍ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنَ الْبُخْلِ وَالْجُبْنِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ سُوءِ الْعُمُرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ فِتْنَةِ الصَّدْرِ ، وَأَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ " .
Amr bin Maymoon narrates: I performed Hajj twice with Sayyiduna Umar bin Khattab (may Allah be pleased with him). One of these was the Hajj (after which) he was martyred. (On the occasion of this Hajj) I heard him in Muzdalifah saying: Beware! The Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) used to seek refuge from five things. "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from miserliness and cowardice, and I seek refuge in You from the evil of old age, and I seek refuge in You from the trial of the chest, and I seek refuge in You from the punishment of the grave."
