Hadith 943
943/1238 (حسن الإسناد) عن السائب [ هو ابن يزيد]، عن عمر قال: "ربما قعد على باب ابن مسعود رجال، قريش، فإذا فاء الفيء، قال: قوموا(1)، فما بقي فهو للشيطان"، ثم لا يمر على أحد إلا أقامه. قال: ثم بينا هو كذلك إذ قيل: هذا مولى بني الحسحاس يقول الشعر، فدعاه فقال: كيف قلت؟ فقال: ودع سليمى إن تجهزت غازياً ……كفى الشيب والإسلام للمرء ناهيا فقال: حسبك، صدقت صدقت.
943/1238 (Hasan al-Isnad) from al-Sa'ib [ هو ابن يزيد], from Umar who said: "Sometimes men, Quraysh, would sit at the door of Ibn Mas'ud, and when the shade shifted, he would say: 'Stand up(1), for what remains is for the devil,'" and then he would not pass by anyone except that he would make him stand. He said: Then while he was like that, it was said: This is the freedman of Banu al-Hasshas reciting poetry, so he called him and said: How did you say it? He said: "Bid Salayma farewell if you set out as a warrior... Gray hair and Islam are enough to deter a man." He said: "Enough for you, you have spoken the truth, you have spoken the truth."
Hadith 944
944/1239 (حسن الإسناد) وفي رواية عن السائب بن يزيد قال: كان عمر رضي الله عنه يمر بنا نصف النهار – أو قريباً منه – فيقول: " قوموا فقيلوا، فما بقي فللشيطان".
944/1239 (Hasan al-Isnad) And in a narration from al-Sa'ib ibn Yazid who said: Umar, may Allah be pleased with him, used to pass by us at midday—or close to it—and say: "Get up and take a nap, for what remains is for the devil."
Hadith 945
945/1240 (صحيح) عن أنس قال: " كانوا يجعون ثم يقيلون".
945/1240 (Sahih) From Anas who said: "They would pray together, then take a midday nap."
Hadith 946
946/1241 (صحيح الإسناد) عن أنس : ما كان لأهل المدينة شراب – حيث حرمت الخمر – أعجب إليهم من التمر والبُسر؛ فإني لأسقي أصحاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم – وهم عند أبي طلحة- مر رجلٌ فقال: " إن الخمر قد حرمت". فما قالوا: متى ؟ أو حتى نَنْظر. قالوا: يا أنس ! أهرقها، ثم قالوا(2) عند أم سليم أبردوا واغتسلوا، ثم طيبتهم أم سليم، ثم راحوا إلى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فإذا الخبر كما قال الرجل. قال أنس : فما طعموها بعد.
946/1241 (authentic chain) from Anas: The people of Medina had no drink—when wine was forbidden—more pleasing to them than dates and unripe dates; for I used to serve the companions of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, while they were with Abu Talha. A man passed by and said: "Wine has been forbidden." They did not say: When? Or: Let us consider. They said: O Anas! Pour it out. Then they said at Umm Sulaym's: Cool yourselves and bathe. Then Umm Sulaym perfumed them, then they went to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and found the news as the man had said. Anas said: They never tasted it after that.
