Hadith 849
849/1109 (صحيح) عن عبد الله بن عباس : أن أبا سفيان بن حرب أخبره، أرسل إليه هرقل ملك الروم، ثم دعا بكتاب رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم الذي [أرسل به](1) مع دحية الكلبي إلى عظيم (بصرى)، فدفعه إلى هرقل فقرأه، فإذا فيه: "بسم الله الرحمن الرحيم، من محمد عبد الله ورسوله إلى هرقل عظيم الروم، سلام على من اتبع الهدى، أما بعد؛ فإني أدعوك بدعاية الإسلام، أسلم تسلم؛ يؤتك الله أجرك مرتين؛ فإن توليت فإن عليك إثم الأريسيين و ?يا أهل الكتاب تعالوا إلى كلمة سواء بيننا وبينك… ? إلى قوله: ?اشهدوا بأنا مسلمون? [آل عمران: 64].
849/1109 (Sahih) From Abdullah ibn Abbas: That Abu Sufyan ibn Harb informed him, Heraclius the king of Rome sent for him, then he called for the letter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, which [أرسل به](1) was with Dihyah al-Kalbi to the chief of (Busra), so he handed it to Heraclius and he read it, and in it was: "In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful. From Muhammad, the servant of Allah and His Messenger, to Heraclius, the chief of the Romans. Peace be upon those who follow the guidance. To proceed; I invite you with the call of Islam. Submit and you will be safe; Allah will grant you your reward twice; but if you turn away, then upon you is the sin of the Arians. And: O People of the Book, come to a word that is just between us and you... to His saying: bear witness that we are Muslims [آل عمران: 64]."
