Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

830/1084 (Sahih) From a man of Banu Amir who came to the Prophet, peace be upon him, and said: "Shall I enter?" The Prophet, peace be upon him, said to the servant girl: "Go out and say to him: Say: Peace be upon you, may I enter? For he did not do well in seeking permission." He said: I heard her before the servant girl came out to me, so I said: Peace be upon you, may I enter? He said: "And upon you, enter." He said: So I entered and said: For what purpose have you come? He said: "I have not come to you except with good; I have come to you so that you worship Allah alone with no partner, and abandon the worship of Al-Lat and Al-Uzza, and that you pray five prayers in the night and day, and fast a month in the year, and perform pilgrimage to this House, and take from the wealth of your rich and return it to your poor." He said: So I said to him: Is there any knowledge that you do not know? He said: "Allah has taught much good, and among the knowledge is that which none knows except Allah; the five, none knows them except Allah: Indeed, Allah alone has knowledge of the Hour, and sends down the rain, and knows what is in the wombs, and no soul knows what it will earn tomorrow, and no soul knows in what land it will die." [لقمان: 34].
