Hadith 816
816/1065 (Sahih) From Ubayd ibn Umair: That Abu Musa al-Ash'ari sought permission to enter upon Umar ibn al-Khattab, but he was not granted permission—and it was as if Umar was busy—so Abu Musa returned. When Umar was free, he said: Did I not hear the voice of Abdullah ibn Qais? Allow him in. It was said: He has already left. So he called for him and said: We were commanded to do that(1). Umar said: Bring me proof for that(2). So he went to the assembly of the Ansar and asked them. They said: None will testify to this for you except the youngest of us: Abu Sa'id al-Khudri. So he brought Abu Sa'id. Umar said: Has something from the matter of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, been hidden from me[هذا]? The trading in the markets has distracted me. Meaning: going out for trade.
