796/1038- (Authentic chain, mawquf) From Abdullah ibn al-Samit who said: I said to Abu Dharr: I passed by Abdur Rahman ibn Umm al-Hakam, and I greeted him with salam, but he did not reply anything to me. He said: "O son of my brother! What harm is there upon you from that? One who is better than him has replied to you; an angel on his right."

Hadith 797
797/1039- (Authentic as mawquf – and authentic as marfu‘) from Abdullah [ هو ابن مسعود] who said: "Indeed, as-Salam is one of the names of Allah, which Allah has placed on the earth, so spread it among yourselves. When a man greets a people with salam and they reply to him, they have a higher rank because he reminded them of as-Salam. And if they do not reply to him, someone better and purer than them will reply to him."
