Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

733/952 (Sahih) From Anas ibn Malik who said: "The Prophet, peace be upon him, used to enter upon Umm Haram, daughter of Milhan, and she would feed him. She was the wife of Ubadah ibn al-Samit. She fed him, and began to comb his head for lice. He slept, then woke up laughing."

734/953 (Hasan li-ghayrihi) from Qais ibn Asim al-Sa'di who said: I came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and he said: "This is the chief of the people of the tents." So I said: O Messenger of Allah! What wealth is there upon which there is no liability from a claimant or a guest? The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Good wealth is forty, and more is sixty, and woe to the owners of hundreds, except for one who gives the noble, grants the abundant, and slaughters the fat one, so he eats and feeds the content and the beggar." I said: O Messenger of Allah! How noble are these morals; no one settles in a valley where I am because of the abundance of my camels. He said: "How do you deal with giving?" I said: I give the young and I give the mature. He said: "How do you deal with the grant?" I said: I grant the she-camel. He said: "How do you deal with the breeding camel?" I said: People come in the morning with their ropes, and no man is prevented from taking a camel, leading it away, and keeping it as long as he wishes, until he returns it himself. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Is your wealth more beloved to you, or the wealth of your heirs?" [قال : مالي]. He said: "You have from your wealth only what you eat and consume, or what you give and send forth, and the rest is for your heirs." I said: Certainly, if I return, I will reduce their number. When death approached him, he gathered his sons and said: O my sons! Take from me, for you will not take from anyone more sincere to you than me: Do not wail over me, for the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was not wailed over, and I heard the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, forbidding wailing. Shroud me in the clothes in which I used to pray, and appoint your elders as leaders, for if you appoint your elders as leaders, your father will always have a successor among you, but if you appoint your young ones, your elders will be belittled by people and they will lose respect for you. Improve your livelihood, for in it is sufficiency from seeking from people, and beware of begging, for it is the last resort of a man’s earning. When you bury me, level the earth over my grave, for there used to be some disputes between me and this clan of Bakr ibn Wa'il: minor quarrels, and I do not trust that a foolish person might do something that would bring shame upon your religion.
