Hadith 730
730/948 (صحيح) عن جابر قال: اشتكى النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فصلينا وراءه- وهو قاعد – وأبو بكر يسمع الناس تكبيره، فالتفت إلينا فرآنا قياماً، فأشار إلينا فقعدنا، فصلينا بصلاته قعوداً، فلمّا سلم، قال: " إن كدتم لتفعلوا فعل فارس والروم. يقومون على ملوكهم وهم قعود، فلا تفعلوا، ائتموا بأئمتكم، إن صلى قائماً فصلوا قياماً، وإن صلى قاعداً فصلوا قعوداً(1)".
Jabir reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, became ill, so we prayed behind him while he was sitting, and Abu Bakr was conveying his takbir to the people. The Prophet turned to us and saw us standing, so he gestured to us and we sat down. We prayed following his prayer while sitting. When he finished, he said: "You were about to do as the Persians and Romans do; they stand before their kings while they (the kings) are seated. Do not do so. Follow your imams: if he prays standing, then pray standing; and if he prays sitting, then pray sitting."(1)
