Hadith 716
716/931- عن أنس قال: عطس رجلان عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فشمت أحدهما، ولم يشمت الآخر، فقال: شمت هذا ولم تشمّتني؟ قال: " إن هذا حمد الله، ولم تحمدَهُ"(1).
716/931- Narrated Anas: Two men sneezed in the presence of the Prophet, peace be upon him. He said "Yarhamuk Allah" to one of them, but did not say it to the other. The latter said, "You said it to him but did not say it to me?" He said: "This one praised Allah, but you did not praise Him."(1).
Hadith 717
717/932-(حسن) ومن طريق أخرى عن أبي هريرة قال: جلس رجلان عند النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم أحدهما أشرف من الآخر، فعطس الشريف منهما، فلم يحمد الله، ولم يشمته، وعطس الآخر فحمد الله، فشمّته النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، فقال الشريف: عطست عندك فلم تشمّتني، وعطس هذا الآخر فشمّته! فقال: " إن هذا ذكر الله فذكرته، وأنت نسيت الله فنسيتُك".
717/932-(Hasan) And through another chain from Abu Huraira who said: Two men sat with the Prophet, peace be upon him, one of whom was more noble than the other. The noble one among them sneezed but did not praise Allah, so he was not given the response. The other sneezed and praised Allah, so the Prophet, peace be upon him, responded to him. The noble one said: "I sneezed in your presence and you did not respond to me, but this other man sneezed and you responded to him!" He said: "This one remembered Allah, so I remembered him. You forgot Allah, so I forgot you."
