Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

662/857 From Mutarrif who said: I accompanied Imran ibn Husayn from Kufa to Basra, and there was hardly a place where he stayed except that he would recite poetry to me, and he said: "Indeed, in ambiguous speech there is an alternative to lying."

663/858 From Ubayy ibn Ka'b; that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Indeed, among poetry there is wisdom."

664/859 From Al-Aswad ibn Sari’, [ قال: كنت شاعراً، فأتيت النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم فـ/861] I said: O Messenger of Allah! I have praised my Lord, the Mighty and Majestic, with words of praise. He said: "Indeed, your Lord loves praise," and he did not add anything to that.

665/860 From Abu Huraira who said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "For a man's belly to be filled with pus [حتى](1) that harms him (2), is better than for it to be filled with poetry."

666/862 From Aisha, may Allah be pleased with her, who said: Hassan ibn Thabit sought permission from the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, to satirize the polytheists. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "But what about my lineage?" He said: "I will extract you from them as a hair is extracted from dough."

667/863 From Urwah who said: I went to insult Hassan in the presence of Aisha, and she said: Do not insult him; for he "used to defend (3) the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him."
