Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

602/778 From Abu Huraira: A man came to the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, and said: O Messenger of Allah! Which charity has the greatest reward? He said: "By your father, I will surely inform you: To give charity while you are healthy and stingy, fearing poverty and hoping for wealth, and not to delay until when the soul reaches the throat, you say: For so-and-so is such-and-such, and for so-and-so is such-and-such, and it has already belonged to so-and-so."
