Hadith 593
593/766 عن أبي الطفيل: سأل ابن الكوّا عليّاً عن المجرّة؟قال: "هو شرج(1) السماء، ومنها فتحت السماء بماء منهمر".
It is narrated from Abu Tufail that Ibn al-Kawwa asked Sayyiduna Ali (may Allah be pleased with him) about the Milky Way: He said, "It is a valley in the sky; from there the sky is opened with extremely abundant rainwater."
Hadith 594
594/767 عن ابن عباس: "القوس: أمانٌ لأهل الأرض من الغرق، المجرة: باب السماء الذي تنشق منه".
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them): The rainbow is a protection (safeguard) for the people of the earth from drowning, and the Milky Way is the gate of the sky from where it emerges.
