Hadith 575
575/744 عن المقدام، أبي كريمة الشامي(1) قال: قال النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم : " ليلة الضيف حق واجب على كل مسلم، فمن أصبح بفناءه فهو دين عليه إن شاء؛ فإن شاء اقتصاه، وإن شاء تركه".
Abu Karima Shami narrates that the Prophet (peace be upon him) said: "Hospitality for one night is obligatory upon every Muslim. Whoever spends the night in someone’s courtyard, it becomes a debt upon him; if he wishes, he may demand repayment of the debt, and if he wishes, he may forgo it."
