Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

(Ikrimah) narrates from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her), and he thinks that he himself heard from Sayyidah Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) that she saw the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) raising both hands in supplication. The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) was saying «اللهم ! إنما أنا بشر فلا تعاقبني، أيما رجل من المؤمنين آذيته أو شتمته فلا تعاقبني فيه» "O Allah! I am only a human being, do not punish me. If I have caused harm or spoken harshly to any of the Muslims, then do not punish me for that."

Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that Sayyiduna Tufail bin Amr Dausi (may Allah be pleased with him) came to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) and said: "O Messenger of Allah! The tribe of Daus has disobeyed and refused (to accept Islam). Pray against them." Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) faced the Qiblah and raised his hands to pray. The people thought that he would pray against those people, but the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: «اللهم! اهدِ دوساً، وائت بهم» "O Allah! Guide the tribe of Daus and bring them to me."

Sayyiduna Anas (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that one year no rain fell (and there was a famine), so some Muslims stood before the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on a Friday and said, "O Messenger of Allah! The rain has been withheld, the land has become barren, and the livestock have perished." Upon this, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) raised his hands; there was not a trace of cloud in the sky. He spread his hands even more until I saw the whiteness of his armpits. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed to Allah for rain. We had not even finished the Friday prayer when the young men from the nearest houses began to worry about returning to their homes. It rained continuously until the next Friday. When the next Friday came, someone said, "O Messenger of Allah! The houses are collapsing and the caravans have stopped." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) smiled and said that the son of Adam becomes weary so quickly. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) gestured with his hand: «اللهم ! حوالينا، ولا علينا". فتكشطت عن المدينة» "O Allah! Let the rain fall around us, not upon us." So the clouds cleared away from Madinah.

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Anas bin Malik, may Allah be pleased with him, that he said: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, used to seek refuge and would say: «اللهم ! إني أعوذ بك من الكسل، وأعوذ بك من الجبن، وأعوذ بك من الهرم، وأعوذ بك من البخل» "O Allah! I seek refuge in You from laziness, I seek refuge in You from cowardice, I seek refuge in You from extreme old age, and I seek refuge in You from miserliness."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he narrates from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) that he (peace be upon him) said: "Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, said: I am as My servant thinks of Me, and I am with him when he calls upon Me."
