Hadith 473
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Indeed, the noble son of the noble, son of the noble, son of the noble: Yusuf, son of Yaqub, son of Ishaq, son of Ibrahim (were such). (That Ibrahim) who was the close friend (Khalil) of the Most Merciful, Blessed and Exalted." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "If I had remained in prison for as long as Yusuf did, and then the one who called (to release me) had come, I would have accepted his word and gone out. When the messenger came to him, he said: «ارجع إلى ربك فاسئله ما بال النسوة التى قطعن أيديهن» 'Return to your master and ask him what is the case of those women who cut their hands?' And may Allah have mercy on Lut, surely he sought refuge in a strong support. When he said to his people: «لو أن لي بكم قوة أو ءاوي إلى ركن شديد» 'Would that I had some power against you, or could take refuge in a strong support,' then after him, Allah did not send any prophet except that he (the prophet) had a large number of people (followers) with him." Muhammad bin Umar, the narrator of this hadith, said: By "tharwat" is meant a large number and protectors."
