Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

It is narrated from Ashajj ‘Abdul Qais that he said: The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to me: “You have two qualities which Allah loves.” I asked: O Messenger of Allah! What are they? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Forbearance and modesty.” I asked: Are these qualities old or new in me? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “They are old.” I said: All praise is due to Allah, Who created me with two qualities which Allah loves.

Sayyiduna Qatadah (may Allah be pleased with him) says that it was narrated to me by one who met the delegation of the tribe of Abdul Qais who came to the service of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him). Qatadah mentioned Abu Nadrah, who narrates from Sayyiduna Abu Sa'id Khudri (may Allah be pleased with him), who said that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Ashajj Abdul Qais: "Indeed, there are two qualities in you which Allah loves: forbearance and patience."

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said to Ashajj (i.e., Ashajj Abdul Qais): "Indeed, there are two qualities in you which Allah loves: forbearance and deliberation in actions."
