Hadith 330
330/428 عن عياض بن حمار قال: قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم : " إن الله أوحي إليّ أن تواضعوا حتى لا يبغي أحدٌ على أحد، ولا يفخر أحد على أحد". فقلت: يا رسول الله! أرأيت لو أن رجلاً سبني في ملأ؛ هم أنقص مني، فرددت عليه، هل علي في ذلك جناح؟ قال: " المستبان شيطانان يتهاتران(1) ويتكاذبان".
Iyad bin Hamar said that the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: “Indeed, Allah has revealed to me that you should adopt humility, so that no one oppresses another and no one boasts over another.” Upon this I said: O Messenger of Allah, if someone abuses me in a large gathering and he is of a lower status than me, and I respond to him, will I also be sinful for that? He said: “Two people who abuse each other are both devils, who utter foul words and lie.”
Hadith 331
331/428م قال عياض: وكنت حرباً لرسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم فأهديت إليه ناقة، قبل أن أسلم، فلم يقبلها، وقال: " إني أكره زبد المشركين".
Iyad says: I used to defend the Prophet (ﷺ), so I sent him a she-camel as a gift before I became Muslim. The Prophet (ﷺ) did not accept it and said: "I dislike the gifts of the polytheists."
