Hadith 114
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abdullah bin Mas’ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Who among you is there who loves the wealth of his heir more than his own wealth?” The people said: O Messenger of Allah! There is none among us but that he loves his own wealth more than the wealth of his heir. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “Know that there is none among you but that he loves the wealth of his heir more than his own wealth. Your wealth is only that which you have spent and sent forward, and the wealth of your heir is that which you have accumulated and left behind.”

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Whom do you count as barren among you?" The people replied: The barren is the one who has no children. He said: "No, rather the barren is the one who has not sent anything ahead from his children." (That is, none of his children died in childhood.)

Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked, "Whom do you count as a strong man among you?" The people replied, "The one whom no one can overpower." He (peace be upon him) said, "No, rather the real strong man is the one who controls himself when he is angry."
