Hadith 76
It is narrated from Sayyiduna Miqdad bin Aswad (may Allah be pleased with him), he said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) asked his companions about adultery. The people replied: It is forbidden; Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have declared it forbidden. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “If a man commits adultery with ten women, it is a lesser sin than committing adultery with his neighbor’s wife.” And he asked them: “What is your opinion about theft?” They said: It is forbidden; Allah the Exalted and His Messenger (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) have forbidden it. He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: “For a person to steal from ten houses is a lesser sin than to steal from the house of his neighbor.”
