It is narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Ayyub Ansari (may Allah be pleased with him) that during a journey of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), a Bedouin came before him and said, "Tell me of an action that will bring me near to Paradise and keep me far from Hell." The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Worship Allah, do not associate anything with Him, establish prayer, give zakat, and maintain the ties of kinship."
Narrated from Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "When Allah, the Mighty and Majestic, created the creation and finished with it, the bond of kinship stood up." Allah said: "What is the matter?" It said: "This is the place of one who seeks refuge with You from being cut off." Allah said: "Are you not pleased that I will keep ties with the one who keeps ties with you, and I will cut off the one who cuts you off?" The bond of kinship said: "Yes, O my Lord! I am pleased." He said: "This is for you." Then Sayyiduna Abu Hurairah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: If you wish, recite this verse: «فَهَلْعَسَيْتُمْإِنْتَوَلَّيْتُمْأَنْتُفْسِدُوافِيالأَرْضِوَتُقَطِّعُواأَرْحَامَكُمْ» "Then, would you perhaps, if you turned away, cause corruption on earth and sever your ties of kinship?"
