900/1176 (صحيح) عن أبي قلابة قال: أخبرني أبو المليح قال: دخلت مع أبيك؛ زيد على عبد الله بن عمرو، فحدثنا: أن النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم ذُكر له صومي، فدخل عليه، فألقيت له وسادة من أدم حشوها ليف، فجلس على الأرض، وصارت الوسادة بيني وبينه، فقال لي: "أما يكفيك من كل شهر ثلاثة أيام؟". [قال: قلت: يا رسول الله!] قال: "خمساً". قلت: يا رسول الله! [قلت: يا رسول الله! قال: "سبعاً" قلت: يا رسول الله! قال: "تسعاً"، قلت: يا رسول الله!] قال: "إحدى عشرة". قلت: يا رسول الله! قال: "لا صوم فوق صوم داود؛ شطر الدهر، صيام يومٍ وإفطار يوم".
900/1176 (Sahih) From Abu Qilabah who said: Abu al-Malih informed me, he said: I entered with your father, Zayd, upon Abdullah ibn Amr, and he narrated to us: That the Prophet, peace be upon him, was told about my fasting, so he came to me, and a cushion made of leather stuffed with fibers was thrown for him, so he sat on the ground, and the cushion was between me and him, and he said to me: "Is it not sufficient for you to fast three days of every month?" [قال: قلت: يا رسول الله!] He said: "Five." I said: O Messenger of Allah! [قلت: يا رسول الله! قال: "سبعاً" قلت: يا رسول الله! قال: "تسعاً"، قلت: يا رسول الله!] He said: "Eleven." I said: O Messenger of Allah! He said: "There is no fasting above the fasting of Dawud; half of the time, fasting one day and breaking the fast one day."
