6/8 - (صحيح الإسناد.) عن طَيْسَلَةُ بْنُ مَيَّاسٍ (1) قَالَ: كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّجَدَاتِ (2) ، فَأَصَبْتُ ذُنُوبًا لَا أَرَاهَا إِلَّا مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِابْنِ عُمَرَ. قَالَ: مَا هِيَ؟ قُلْتُ: كَذَا وَكَذَا. قَالَ: لَيْسَتْ هَذِهِ مِنَ الْكَبَائِرِ، هُنَّ تِسْعٌ: الْإِشْرَاكُ بِاللَّهِ، وَقَتْلُ نَسَمَةٍ، وَالْفِرَارُ مِنَ الزَّحْفِ، وَقَذْفُ الْمُحْصَنَةِ، وَأَكْلُ الرِّبَا، وَأَكْلُ مَالِ الْيَتِيمِ، وَإِلْحَادٌ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ، وَالَّذِي يَسْتَسْخِرُ (3) ، وَبُكَاءُ الْوَالِدَيْنِ مِنَ الْعُقُوقِ، قَالَ: لِي ابْنُ عُمَرَ: أَتَفْرَقُ (4) النَّارَ، وَتُحِبُّ أَنْ تَدْخُلَ الْجَنَّةَ؟ قُلْتُ: إي، والله! قال: أحيٌّ والداك؟ قُلْتُ: عِنْدِي أُمِّي. قَالَ: فَوَاللَّهِ! لَوْ أَلَنْتَ لَهَا الْكَلَامَ، وَأَطْعَمْتَهَا الطَّعَامَ، لَتَدْخُلَنَّ الْجَنَّةَ مَا اجْتَنَبْتَ الكبائر.
It is narrated from Taysalah bin Miyaas, he says: I was with Najdah bin Aamir, a follower of the Khawarij (this is a group of Khawarij). I committed such sins which I considered to be major sins, so I mentioned this to Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them). He asked: Which sins are those? I said: Such and such. He said: These are not major sins. The major sins are nine: associating partners with Allah, killing a soul, fleeing from battle, accusing a chaste woman of adultery, consuming usury, consuming the wealth of an orphan, committing disbelief (irreligion) in the mosque, the person who mocks (the religion), and making the parents weep due to disobedience (of the son). Sayyiduna Ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them) said to me: Do you fear Hell and wish to enter Paradise? I said: Yes, by Allah. He asked: Are your parents alive? I said: My mother is with me. He said: By Allah! If you speak gently to her and feed her, you will enter Paradise as long as you avoid major sins.
