Hadith 586

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Ibn Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) that when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) distributed the spoils of the Battle of Hunayn at the place of Ji'ranah, people crowded around him. Upon this, the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Allah sent one of His servants to a people, but they denied him and wounded him. So he kept wiping the blood from his forehead and kept saying: 'O Allah! Forgive my people, for they do not know.'" Abdullah bin Mas'ud (may Allah be pleased with him) says: It is as if I am seeing the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) describing a person who is wiping his forehead.
