Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

Sayyiduna Uqbah bin Amir (may Allah be pleased with him) narrates that I said to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), "O Messenger of Allah! You send us (for jihad), and we camp near a people, but they do not host us. What do you think about this?" The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said to us: "If you camp near a people and an order is issued for you for what is due to a guest, then accept it. If they do not do so, then take from them the right of the guest which was permissible for them." (When you go to a people, I will tell you what a guest should do. Draw their attention. If they do not show hospitality, then take as much as is due to a guest.)
