518/666 عن محمد بن كعب القرظي : قال معاوية بن أبي سفيان على المنبر: "إنه لا مانع لما أعطيت، ولا معطي لما منع الله، ولا ينفع ذا الجد منه الجد. ومن يرد الله به خيراً يفقهه في الدين". سمعت هؤلاء الكلمات من النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم، على هذه الأعواد.
It is narrated from Muhammad bin Ka'b Qurazi, he said: Sayyiduna Muawiyah bin Abi Sufyan (may Allah be pleased with them both) said from the pulpit: Surely, whatever you give, no one can withhold it, and whatever Allah withholds, no one can give it, and no person of wealth can benefit you with his wealth. Whomever Allah intends good for, He grants him understanding of the religion. I heard these words from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) on these very planks (of the pulpit).
