Sahih Adab al-Mufrad

It is narrated from Sayyiduna Jabir (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "O Banu Salamah, who is your chief?" We replied: Jad bin Qais, although we consider him to be miserly. He said: "What disease can be more destructive than miserliness? Rather, your chief is 'Amr bin Jamuh." In the days of ignorance, 'Amr used to look after their idols, and when the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) would marry, he ('Amr) would arrange the wedding feast on his behalf.
