Hadith 19

It is narrated from Sayyida Asma bint Abu Bakr (may Allah be pleased with her) that she said: In the time of the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him), my mother came to me, inclined towards Islam. I asked the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him): Should I maintain ties of kinship with her? He (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him) said: "Yes." Ibn Uyaynah says that Allah the Exalted then revealed this verse: «‏لاَ يَنْهَاكُمُ اللَّهُ عَنِ الَّذِينَ لَمْ يُقَاتِلُوكُمْ فِي الدِّينِ» "Allah does not forbid you from those who have not fought you because of religion, to deal kindly and justly with them."
