Hadith 136
And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "None among you will be saved by his deeds alone. Therefore, remain steadfast on the right path and stay as close to it as possible." The Companions, may Allah be pleased with them, asked: "O Messenger of Allah! Will your deeds also not be the cause of your salvation?" He, peace and blessings be upon him, replied: "I too will not attain salvation through my deeds, unless Allah, the Exalted, covers me with His grace and mercy (that is a different matter)."
