Prohibition of Continuous Fasting (Wisal)
Hadith 69
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ، إِيَّاكُمْ وَالْوِصَالَ "، قَالُوا : فَإِنَّكَ تُوَاصِلُ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ . قَالَ : " إِنِّي لَسْتُ فِي ذَاكُمْ مِثْلَكُمْ، إِنِّي أَبِيتُ يُطْعِمُنِي رَبِّي وَيَسْقِينِي، فَاكْلُفُوا مِنَ الْعَمَلِ مَا لَكُمْ بِهِ طَاقَةٌ "
The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "Refrain from continuous fasting (without breaking the fast), refrain from continuous fasting." The companions, may Allah be pleased with them, said: O Messenger of Allah! You yourself observe continuous fasting. The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am not like you in this matter. I spend the night in such a state that my Lord feeds me and gives me drink. So you should only bear as much hardship in deeds as you have strength for."
