And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "A man was walking arrogantly in two garments, and he was overcome with self-conceit, so (by the command of Allah) he was caused to sink into the earth, and he will remain (in that state) until the Day of Resurrection."

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (or 'Abul Qasim) said, "While a man was walking, clad in a two-piece garment and proud of himself with his hair well-combed, suddenly Allah made him sink into the earth and he will go on sinking into it till the Day of Resurrection.

Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said that there was a person who used to walk with pride because of his thick hair and fine mantles. He was made to sink in the earth and he would go on sinking in the earth until the Last Hour would come.

Hadith Commentary: Vocabulary of the Hadith: (1) Jummah: Hair that falls from the head onto the shoulders. (2) Yatajajjal: He is sinking continuously with movement. Benefits and Issues: According to Imam Suhayli rahimahullah, the one who was swallowed up is the wild Persian Iranian animal called "Hayran," and according to an extremely weak narration, it is Qarun.
