Ruling on Jihad and Fighting Against Disbelievers
Hadith 51
قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لا أَزَالُ أُقَاتِلُ النَّاسَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ، فَإِذَا قَالُوا : لا إِلَهَ إِلا اللَّهُ، فَقَدْ عَصَمُوا مِنِّي دِمَاءَهُمْ وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ وَأَنْفُسَهُمْ إِلا بِحَقِّهَا وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ "
And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I will continue to fight the people until they declare «لا إله إلا اللہ» (there is no deity worthy of worship except Allah). So when they declare it, they have protected their wealth and their lives from me, except for its due right (i.e., retribution, apostasy, or any other prescribed legal punishment is excepted), and their reckoning is with Allah, the Mighty and Majestic."
