قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلِي وَمَثَلُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ مِنْ قَبْلِي كَمَثَلِ رَجُلٍ ابْتَنَى بُيُوتًا، فَأَحْسَنَهَا وَأَجْمَلَهَا وَأَكْمَلَهَا، إِلا مَوْضِعَ لَبِنَةٍ مِنْ زَاوِيَةٍ مِنْ زَوَايَاهَا، فَجَعَلَ النَّاسُ يَطُوفُونَ وَيُعْجِبُهُمُ الْبُنْيَانُ، فَيَقُولُونَ : أَلا وُضِعَتْ هَاهُنَا لَبِنَةٌ فَتَمَّ بِنَاؤُهُ، فَقَالَ مُحَمَّدٌ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَأَنَا اللَّبِنَةُ "
And the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The example of me and the other prophets is like that of a person who built houses, and adorned and perfected them beautifully, but left a space for a brick at one of the corners of the houses. Now all the people come and walk around the building from all sides, and the building amazes them, but they also say: Why was a brick not placed here? By which the construction (of the building) would have been completed." Then the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "I am that brick."
