حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنْ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ يُسَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ سَهْلَ بْنَ حُنَيْفٍ ، هَلْ سَمِعْتَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَذْكُرُ الْخَوَارِجَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : " سَمِعْتُهُ وَأَشَارَ بِيَدِهِ نَحْوَ الْمَشْرِقِ ، قَوْمٌ يَقْرَءُونَ الْقُرْآنَ بِأَلْسِنَتِهِمْ ، لَا يَعْدُو تَرَاقِيَهُمْ ، يَمْرُقُونَ مِنَ الدِّينِ كَمَا يَمْرُقُ السَّهْمُ مِنَ الرَّمِيَّةِ " ،
Yusair bin 'Amr reported that he inquired of Sahl bin Hunaif: Did you hear the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) making a mention of the Khwarij? He said: I heard him say (and he pointed with his hand towards the east) that these would be a people who would recite the Qur'an with their tongues and it would not go beyond their collar bones. They would pass clean through their religion just as the arrow passes through the prey.

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ ، جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، عَنْ الْعَوَّامِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو إسحاق الشَّيْبَانِيُّ ، عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يَتِيهُ قَوْمٌ قِبَلَ الْمَشْرِقِ ، مُحَلَّقَةٌ رُءُوسُهُمْ " .
Sahl bin Hunaif reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: There would arise from the east a people with shaven heads.

وحدثنا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حدثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنِ الشَّيْبَانِيِّ ، عَنْ يُسَيْرِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ ، قَالَ : " أَهْوَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِيَدِهِ إِلَى الْمَدِينَةِ ، فقَالَ : إِنَّهَا حَرَمٌ آمِنٌ " .
Sahl bin Hunaif reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) pointed with his hands towards Madinah and said: That is a sacred territory and a place of safety.

حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَاشِمُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدٌ الْجُرَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ ، عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ : أَنَّ أَهْلَ الْكُوفَةِ وَفَدُوا إِلَى عُمَرَ ، وَفِيهِمْ رَجُلٌ مِمَّنْ كَانَ يَسْخَرُ بِأُوَيْسٍ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : هَلْ هَاهُنَا أَحَدٌ مِنَ الْقَرَنِيِّينَ ؟ فَجَاءَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلُ ، فَقَالَ عُمَرُ : إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَدْ قَالَ : إِنَّ رَجُلًا يَأْتِيكُمْ مِنْ الْيَمَنِ ، يُقَالُ لَهُ أُوَيْسٌ ، لَا يَدَعُ بِالْيَمَنِ غَيْرَ أُمٍّ لَهُ قَدْ كَانَ بِهِ بَيَاضٌ ، فَدَعَا اللَّهَ فَأَذْهَبَهُ عَنْهُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ الدِّينَارِ أَوِ الدِّرْهَمِ فَمَنْ لَقِيَهُ مِنْكُمْ فَلْيَسْتَغْفِرْ لَكُمْ " .
Usair bin Jabir reported that a delegation from Kufa came to 'Umar and there was a person amongst them who jeered at Uwais. Thereupon Umar said: Is there amongst us one from Qaran? That person came and Umar said: Verily Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) has said: There would come to you a person from Yemen who would be called Uwais and he would leave none in Yemen (behind him) except his mother, and he would have the whiteness (due to leprosy) and he supplicated Allah and it was cured except for the size of a dinar or dirham. He who amongst you meets him should ask him to supplicate for forgiveness (from Allah) for you.

حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الْحَنْظَلِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ زُرَارَةَ بْنِ أَوْفَى ، عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : كَانَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِذَا أَتَى عَلَيْهِ أَمْدَادُ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ سَأَلَهُمْ ، أَفِيكُمْ أُوَيْسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ؟ حَتَّى أَتَى عَلَى أُوَيْسٍ ، فَقَالَ : أَنْتَ أُوَيْسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : مِنْ مُرَادٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ قَرَن ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : فَكَانَ بِكَ بَرَصٌ ، فَبَرَأْتَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ دِرْهَمٍ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَال : لَكَ وَالِدَةٌ ؟ قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ أُوَيْسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ مَعَ أَمْدَادِ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ مِنْ مُرَادٍ ثُمَّ مِنْ قَرَنٍ ، كَانَ بِهِ بَرَصٌ ، فَبَرَأَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ دِرْهَمٍ ، لَهُ وَالِدَةٌ هُوَ بِهَا بَرٌّ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرَ لَكَ ، فَافْعَلْ فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، فَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ عُمَرُ : أَيْنَ تُرِيدُ ؟ قَالَ : الْكُوفَةَ ، قَالَ : أَلَا أَكْتُبُ لَكَ إِلَى عَامِلِهَا ؟ قَالَ : أَكُونُ فِي غَبْرَاءِ النَّاسِ أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ ، قَالَ : فَلَمَّا كَانَ مِنَ الْعَامِ الْمُقْبِلِ حَجَّ رَجُلٌ مِنْ أَشْرَافِهِمْ ، فَوَافَقَ عُمَرَ فَسَأَلَهُ عَنْ أُوَيْسٍ ، قَالَ : تَرَكْتُهُ رَثَّ الْبَيْتِ قَلِيلَ الْمَتَاعِ ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " يَأْتِي عَلَيْكُمْ أُوَيْسُ بْنُ عَامِرٍ مَعَ أَمْدَادِ أَهْلِ الْيَمَنِ مِنْ مُرَادٍ ، ثُمَّ مِنْ قَرَنٍ ، كَانَ بِهِ بَرَصٌ فَبَرَأَ مِنْهُ إِلَّا مَوْضِعَ دِرْهَمٍ ، لَهُ وَالِدَةٌ هُوَ بِهَا بَرٌّ لَوْ أَقْسَمَ عَلَى اللَّهِ لَأَبَرَّهُ ، فَإِنِ اسْتَطَعْتَ أَنْ يَسْتَغْفِرَ لَكَ فَافْعَلْ ، فَأَتَى أُوَيْسًا ، فَقَالَ : اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ أَحْدَثُ عَهْدًا بِسَفَرٍ صَالِحٍ ، فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : اسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : أَنْتَ أَحْدَثُ عَهْدًا بِسَفَرٍ صَالِحٍ فَاسْتَغْفِرْ لِي ، قَالَ : لَقِيتَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، فَاسْتَغْفَرَ لَهُ فَفَطِنَ لَهُ النَّاسُ ، فَانْطَلَقَ عَلَى وَجْهِهِ ، قَالَ : أُسَيْرٌ وَكَسَوْتُهُ بُرْدَةً ، فَكَانَ كُلَّمَا رَآهُ إِنْسَانٌ ، قَالَ : مِنْ أَيْنَ لِأُوَيْسٍ هَذِهِ الْبُرْدَةُ " .
Usair bin Jabir reported that when people from Yemen came to help (the Muslim army at the time of jihad) he asked them: Is there amongst you Uwais bin 'Amir? (He continued finding him out) until he met Uwais. He said: Are you Uwais bin , Amir? He said: Yes. He said: Are you from the tribe of Qaran? He said: Yes. He (Hadrat) 'Umar (again) said: Did you suffer from leprosy and then you were cured from it but for the space of a dirham? He said: Yes. He ('Umar) said: Is your mother (living)? He said: Yes. He ('Umar) said: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say: There would come to you Uwais bin Amir with the reinforcement from the people of Yemen. (He would be) from Qaran, (the branch) of Murid. He had been suffering from leprosy from which he was cured but for a spot of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been excellent. If he were to take an oath in the name of Allah, He would honour that. And if it is possible for you, then do ask him to beg forgiveness for you (from your Lord). So he (Uwais) begged forgiveness for him. Umar said: Where do you intend to go? He said: To Kufa. He ('Umar) said: Let me write a letter for you to its governor, whereupon he (Uwais) said: I love to live amongst the poor people. When it was the next year, a person from among the elite (of Kufa) performed Hajj and he met Umar. He asked him about Uwais. He said: I left him in a state with meagre means of sustenance. (Thereupon) Umar said: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There would come to you Uwais bin 'Amir, of Qaran, a branch (of the tribe) of Murid, along with the reinforcement of the people of Yemen. He had been suffering from leprosy which would have been cured but for the space of a dirham. His treatment with his mother would have been very kind. If he would take an oath in the name of Allah (for something) He would honour it. Ask him to beg forgiveness for you (from Allah) in case it is possible for you. So he came to Uwais and said.: Beg forgiveness (from Allah) for me. He (Uwais) said: You have just come from a sacred journey (Hajj) ; you, therefore, ask forgiveness for me. He (the person who had performed Hajj) said: Ask forgiveness for me (from Allah). He (Uwais again) said: You have just come from the sacred journey, so you ask forgiveness for me. (Uwais further) said: Did you meet Umar? He said: Yes. He (Uwais) then begged forgiveness for him (from Allah). So the people came to know about (the status of religious piety) of Uwais. He went away (from that place). Usair said: His clothing consisted of a mantle, and whosoever saw him said: From where did Uwais get this mantle?

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ حُجْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ الْعَدَوِيِّ ، عَنْ يُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : هَاجَتْ رِيحٌ حَمْرَاءُ بِالْكُوفَةِ ، فَجَاءَ رَجُلٌ لَيْسَ لَهُ هِجِّيرَى إِلَّا يَا عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ مَسْعُودٍ ، جَاءَتِ السَّاعَةُ ، قَالَ : فَقَعَدَ وَكَانَ مُتَّكِئًا ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ السَّاعَةَ لَا تَقُومُ حَتَّى لَا يُقْسَمَ مِيرَاثٌ ، وَلَا يُفْرَحَ بِغَنِيمَةٍ ، قَالَ بِيَدِهِ : هَكَذَا وَنَحَّاهَا نَحْوَ الشَّأْمِ ، فَقَالَ عَدُوٌّ : يَجْمَعُونَ لِأَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ ، وَيَجْمَعُ لَهُمْ أَهْلُ الْإِسْلَامِ ، قُلْتُ : الرُّومَ تَعْنِي ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَتَكُونُ عِنْدَ ذَاكُمُ الْقِتَالِ رَدَّةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ ، فَيَشْتَرِطُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرْطَةً لِلْمَوْتِ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَّا غَالِبَةً ، فَيَقْتَتِلُونَ حَتَّى يَحْجُزَ بَيْنَهُمُ اللَّيْلُ فَيَفِيءُ هَؤُلَاءِ وَهَؤُلَاءِ كُلٌّ غَيْرُ غَالِبٍ ، وَتَفْنَى الشُّرْطَةُ ثُمَّ يَشْتَرِطُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرْطَةً لِلْمَوْتِ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَّا غَالِبَةً ، فَيَقْتَتِلُونَ حَتَّى يَحْجُزَ بَيْنَهُمُ اللَّيْلُ فَيَفِيءُ هَؤُلَاءِ وَهَؤُلَاءِ كُلٌّ غَيْرُ غَالِبٍ ، وَتَفْنَى الشُّرْطَةُ ثُمَّ يَشْتَرِطُ الْمُسْلِمُونَ شُرْطَةً لِلْمَوْتِ لَا تَرْجِعُ إِلَّا غَالِبَةً ، فَيَقْتَتِلُونَ حَتَّى يُمْسُوا فَيَفِيءُ هَؤُلَاءِ وَهَؤُلَاءِ كُلٌّ غَيْرُ غَالِبٍ ، وَتَفْنَى الشُّرْطَةُ ، فَإِذَا كَانَ يَوْمُ الرَّابِعِ نَهَدَ إِلَيْهِمْ بَقِيَّةُ أَهْلِ الْإِسْلَامِ ، فَيَجْعَلُ اللَّهُ الدَّبْرَةَ عَلَيْهِمْ ، فَيَقْتُلُونَ مَقْتَلَةً إِمَّا ، قَالَ : لَا يُرَى مِثْلُهَا ، وَإِمَّا قَالَ : لَمْ يُرَ مِثْلُهَا حَتَّى إِنَّ الطَّائِرَ لَيَمُرُّ بِجَنَبَاتِهِمْ ، فَمَا يُخَلِّفُهُمْ حَتَّى يَخِرَّ مَيْتًا ، فَيَتَعَادُّ بَنُو الْأَبِ كَانُوا مِائَةً ، فَلَا يَجِدُونَهُ بَقِيَ مِنْهُمْ إِلَّا الرَّجُلُ الْوَاحِدُ ، فَبِأَيِّ غَنِيمَةٍ يُفْرَحُ أَوْ أَيُّ مِيرَاثٍ يُقَاسَمُ ، فَبَيْنَمَا هُمْ كَذَلِكَ إِذْ سَمِعُوا بِبَأْسٍ هُوَ أَكْبَرُ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، فَجَاءَهُمُ الصَّرِيخُ إِنَّ الدَّجَّالَ قَدْ خَلَفَهُمْ فِي ذَرَارِيِّهِمْ ، فَيَرْفُضُونَ مَا فِي أَيْدِيهِمْ وَيُقْبِلُونَ ، فَيَبْعَثُونَ عَشَرَةَ فَوَارِسَ طَلِيعَةً ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي لَأَعْرِفُ أَسْمَاءَهُمْ وَأَسْمَاءَ آبَائِهِمْ ، وَأَلْوَانَ خُيُولِهِمْ هُمْ خَيْرُ فَوَارِسَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ يَوْمَئِذٍ ، أَوْ مِنْ خَيْرِ فَوَارِسَ عَلَى ظَهْرِ الْأَرْضِ يَوْمَئِذٍ " ، قَالَ ابْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ فِي رِوَايَتِهِ ، عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ،
Yusair bin Jabir reported: Once there blew a red storm in Kufah that there came a person who had nothing to say but (these words): 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud, the Last Hour has come. He (''Abdullah bin Mas'ud) was sitting reclining against something, and he said: The Last Hour would not come until the people divide inheritance and rejoice over booty, and then said pointing towards Syria, with the gesture of his hand like this: The enemy shall muster strength against Muslims and the Muslims will muster strength against them (Syrians). I said: You mean Rome? And he said: Yes, and there would be a terrible fight and the Muslims would prepare a detachment (for fighting unto death) which would not return but victorious. They will fight until night will intervene them; both the sides will return without being victorious and both will be wiped out. The Muslims will again prepare a detachment for fighting unto death so that they may not return but victorious. When it would be the fourth day, a new detachment out of the remnant of the Muslims would be prepared and Allah will decree that the enemy should be routed. And they would fight such a fight the like of which would not be seen, so much so that even if a bird were to pass their flanks, it would fall down dead before reaching the end of them. (There would be such a largescale massacre) that when counting would be done, (only) one out of a hundred men related to one another would be found alive. So what can be the joy at the spoils of such war and what inheritance would be divided! They would be in this very state that they would hear of a calamity more horrible than this. And a cry would reach them: The Dajjil has taken your place among your off- spring. They will, therefore, throw away what would be in their hands and go forward sending ten horsemen, as a scouting party. Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I know their names and the names of their forefathers and the colour of their horses. They will be best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day or amongst the best horsemen on the surface of the earth on that day.

Jabir reported: I was in the company of Ibn Mas'ud that there blew a red storm. The rest of the hadith is the same.

وحَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ بْنُ فَرُّوخَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُمَيْدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ هِلَالٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أُسَيْرِ بْنِ جَابِرٍ ، قَالَ : كُنْتُ فِي بَيْتِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مَسْعُودٍ ، وَالْبَيْتُ مَلْآنُ ، قَالَ : فَهَاجَتْ رِيحٌ حَمْرَاءُ بِالْكُوفَةِ ، فَذَكَرَ نَحْوَ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُلَيَّةَ .
Jabir reported: I was in the house of 'Abdullah bin Mas'ud and the house was fully packed that a red storm blew in Kufah.
