Hadith 1963
أَخْبَرَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، قال : حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ ، قال : أُتِيَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِجَنَازَةٍ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , صَلِّ عَلَيْهَا , قَالَ : " هَلْ تَرَكَ عَلَيْهِ دَيْنًا ؟ " , قَالُوا : نَعَمْ , قَالَ : " هَلْ تَرَكَ مِنْ شَيْءٍ ؟ " , قَالُوا : لَا , قَالَ : " صَلُّوا عَلَى صَاحِبِكُمْ " , قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ يُقَالُ لَهُ أَبُو قَتَادَةَ : صَلِّ عَلَيْهِ وَعَلَيَّ دَيْنُهُ ، فَصَلَّى عَلَيْهِ .
´Salamah - meaning, bin Al-Akwa' - said:` "A Janazah was brought to the Prophet and they said: " O Prophet of Allah, pray for him.' He said: "Did he leave any debt behind?' They said: "Yes.' He said 'Did he leave anything?' They said: No. He said; 'Pray fro your companion.' A man among the Ansar who was called Abu Qatadah said: 'Pray for him and I will pay off his debt.' So he prayed for him."
Hadith 2318
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : أَنْبَأَنَا بَكْرٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ مُضَرَ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ بُكَيْرٍ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ مَوْلَى سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ، قَالَ : " لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ وَعَلَى الَّذِينَ يُطِيقُونَهُ فِدْيَةٌ طَعَامُ مِسْكِينٍ سورة البقرة آية 184 , كَانَ مَنْ أَرَادَ مِنَّا أَنْ يُفْطِرَ ، وَيَفْتَدِيَ حَتَّى نَزَلَتِ الْآيَةُ الَّتِي بَعْدَهَا فَنَسَخَتْهَا " .
´It was narrated that salamah bin Al-Akwa said:` "When this verse was revealed 'And as for those who can fast with difficulty, (e.g. an old man), they have (a choice either to fast or) to feed a miskin (poor person) (for every day). Those among us who did not want to fast would pay the fidyah, until the verse after it was revealed and abrogated this."
Hadith 2323
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ ، أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ لِرَجُلٍ : " أَذِّنْ يَوْمَ عَاشُورَاءَ مَنْ كَانَ أَكَلَ فَلْيُتِمَّ بَقِيَّةَ يَوْمِهِ ، وَمَنْ لَمْ يَكُنْ أَكَلَ فَلْيَصُمْ " .
´It was narrated that Yazid said:` "Salamah told us that the Messenger of Allah said to a man: 'Announce the day of Ashura. Whoever has eaten let him not eat for the rest of the day, and whoever has not eaten, let him fast."'
Hadith 2538
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمٌ ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ عُمَيْرًا مَوْلَى آبِي اللَّحْمِ ، قَالَ : أَمَرَنِي مَوْلَايَ أَنْ أُقَدِّدَ لَحْمًا فَجَاءَ مِسْكِينٌ فَأَطْعَمْتُهُ مِنْهُ ، فَعَلِمَ بِذَلِكَ مَوْلَايَ فَضَرَبَنِي ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَدَعَاهُ فَقَالَ : " لِمَ ضَرَبْتَهُ ؟ " فَقَالَ : يُطْعِمُ طَعَامِي بِغَيْرِ أَنْ آمُرَهُ ، وَقَالَ : مَرَّةً أُخْرَى بِغَيْرِ أَمْرِي , قَالَ : " الْأَجْرُ بَيْنَكُمَا " .
´Narrated:` 'Umair, the freed slave of commanded me to cut up some meat, then a poor man came so I gave him some. When my master fund out about that, he beat me, so I went to the Messenger of Allah and he came to him and said: 'Do not beat him.' He said: 'He gave away my food without me telling him to.' He said: 'The reward will be shared between you both."'
Hadith 4164
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ لِسَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ : عَلَى أَيِّ شَيْءٍ بَايَعْتُمُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَوْمَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، قَالَ : " عَلَى الْمَوْتِ " .
´It was narrated that Yazid bin Abi 'Ubaid said:` "I said to Salamah bin Al-Akwa': 'What pledge did you make to the Prophet on the Day of Al-Hudaibiyyah?' He said: 'For death."'
Hadith 4191
أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا حَاتِمُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ، أَنَّهُ دَخَلَ عَلَى الْحَجَّاجِ ، فَقَالَ : يَا ابْنَ الْأَكْوَعِ ، ارْتَدَدْتَ عَلَى عَقِبَيْكَ ، وَذَكَرَ كَلِمَةً مَعْنَاهَا , وَبَدَوْتَ . قَالَ : لَا , وَلَكِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " أَذِنَ لِي فِي الْبُدُوِّ " .
´It was narrated from Salamah bin Al-Akwa ' that he entered upon Al-Hajjaj who said:` O son of Al-Akwa, you have turned on your heels (i.e., deserted Islam) by staying in the desert with the Bedouins." He said: "No; the Messenger of Allah gave me permission to stay in the desert with the Bedouins.
