Hadith 1018
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا غُنْدَرٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ . ح وحَدَّثَنِيهِ بِشْرُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ جَعْفَرٍ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَسْعُودٍ ، قَالَ : " أُمِرْنَا بِالصَّدَقَةِ ، قَالَ : كُنَّا نُحَامِلُ ، قَالَ : فَتَصَدَّقَ أَبُو عَقِيلٍ بِنِصْفِ صَاعٍ ، قَالَ : وَجَاءَ إِنْسَانٌ بِشَيْءٍ أَكْثَرَ مِنْهُ ، فَقَالَ الْمُنَافِقُونَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَغَنِيٌّ عَنْ صَدَقَةِ هَذَا وَمَا فَعَلَ هَذَا الْآخَرُ إِلَّا رِيَاءً ، فَنَزَلَتْ الَّذِينَ يَلْمِزُونَ الْمُطَّوِّعِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ فِي الصَّدَقَاتِ وَالَّذِينَ لا يَجِدُونَ إِلا جُهْدَهُمْ سورة التوبة آية 79 ، وَلَمْ يَلْفِظْ بِشْرٌ بِالْمُطَّوِّعِينَ ،
Abu Mas'ud reported: We were commanded to give charity (despite the fact) that we were coolies. Abu 'Aqil donated half a sa'. And there came another man with more than this. The hypocrites said: Verily Allah does not stand in need of the charity of this, and the second one has done nothing but only made a show (of his charity). Then this verse was revealed. "Those who scoff at the voluntary givers of charity among the believers as well as those who cannot find anything (to give) but with their hard labour" (ix. 80). And Bishr did not utter the word Muttawwi'in.
Hadith 1424
وحَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، حدثنا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُعَاوِيَةَ الْفَزَارِيُّ ، حدثنا يَزِيدُ بْنُ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فقَالَ : إِنِّي تَزَوَّجْتُ امْرَأَةً مِنَ الْأَنْصَارِ ، فقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " هَلْ نَظَرْتَ إِلَيْهَا ؟ فَإِنَّ فِي عُيُونِ الْأَنْصَارِ شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ : قَدْ نَظَرْتُ إِلَيْهَا ، قَالَ : " عَلَى كَمْ تَزَوَّجْتَهَا ؟ " ، قَالَ : عَلَى أَرْبَعِ أَوَاقٍ ، فقَالَ لَهُ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " عَلَى أَرْبَعِ أَوَاقٍ ، كَأَنَّمَا تَنْحِتُونَ الْفِضَّةَ مِنْ عُرْضِ هَذَا الْجَبَلِ ، مَا عَنْدَنَا مَا نُعْطِيكَ وَلَكِنْ عَسَى أَنْ نَبْعَثَكَ فِي بَعْثٍ تُصِيبُ مِنْهُ " ، قَالَ : فَبَعَثَ بَعْثًا إِلَى بَنِي عَبْسٍ بَعَثَ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ فِيهِمْ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: A man came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: I have contracted marriage with a woman of the Ansar, whereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: Did you cast a glance at her, for there is something in the eyes of the Ansar? He said: I did cast a glance at her, whereupon he said: For what (dower) did you marry her? He said: For four 'uqiyas. Thereupon Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: For four 'uqiyas; it seems as if you dig out silver from the side of this mountain (and that is why you are prepared to pay such a large amount of dower). We have nothing which we should give you. There is a possibility that we may send you to an (expedition) where you may get (booty). So he sent that man (in the expedition) which was despatched to Banu 'Abs.
Hadith 1542
حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ مَعِينٍ ، وَهَارُونُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، وَحُسَيْنُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنِ الْمُزَابَنَةِ ، وَالْمُزَابَنَةُ : بَيْعُ ثَمَرِ النَّخْلِ بِالتَّمْرِ كَيْلًا ، وَبَيْعُ الزَّبِيبِ بِالْعِنَبِ كَيْلًا ، وَعَنْ كُلِّ ثَمَرٍ بِخَرْصِهِ " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having forbidden Muzabana, and Muzabana is the selling of dry dates by measure for fresh dates and the selling of raisins by measure for grapes and selling of all Ports of fruits on the basis of calculation.
