Hadith 110
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامِ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا قِلَابَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ ثَابِتَ بْنَ الضَّحَّاكِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ بَايَعَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَحْتَ الشَّجَرَةِ ، وَأَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينٍ بِمِلَّةٍ غَيْرِ الإِسْلَامِ كَاذِبًا ، فَهُوَ كَمَا قَالَ ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ ، عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَلَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِي شَيْءٍ لَا يَمْلِكُهُ " .
Thabit bin Dahhak reported that he pledged allegiance to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) under the Tree, and verily the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observed: He who took an oath of a religion other than Islam, in the state of being a liar, would became so, as he professed. He who killed himself with a thing would be tormented on the Day of Resurrection with that very thing. One is not obliged to offer votive offering of a thing which is not in his possession.
Hadith 110
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو غَسَّانَ الْمِسْمَعِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو قِلَابَةَ ، عَنْ ثَابِتِ بْنِ الضَّحَّاكِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ عَلَى رَجُلٍ نَذْرٌ فِيمَا لَا يَمْلِكُ ، وَلَعْنُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَقَتْلِهِ ، وَمَنْ قَتَلَ نَفْسَهُ بِشَيْءٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا ، عُذِّبَ بِهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنِ ادَّعَى دَعْوَى كَاذِبَةً لِيَتَكَثَّرَ بِهَا ، لَمْ يَزِدْهُ اللَّهُ إِلَّا قِلَّةً ، وَمَنْ حَلَفَ عَلَى يَمِينِ صَبْرٍ ، فَاجِرَةٍ " .

Hadith 135
وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الرُّومِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا النَّضْرُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : لَا يَزَالُونَ يَسْأَلُونَكَ يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : " هَذَا اللَّهُ ، فَمَنْ خَلَقَ اللَّهَ ؟ " ، قَالَ : فَبَيْنَا أَنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، إِذْ جَاءَنِي نَاسٌ مِنَ الأَعْرَابِ ، فَقَالُوا : يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، هَذَا اللَّهُ ، فَمَنْ خَلَقَ اللَّهَ ؟ قَالَ : فَأَخَذَ حَصًى بِكَفِّهِ فَرَمَاهُمْ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : قُومُوا قُومُوا ، صَدَقَ خَلِيلِي .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: they (the people) till constantly ask you, Abu Hurairah (RA) , (about different things pertaining to religion) the they would say: Well, there is Allah, but after all who created Allah? He ( Abu Hurairah (RA) ) narrated: Once we were in the mosque that some of the Bedouins came there and said: Well, there is Allah, but who created Allah? He (the narrator) said: I took hold of the pebbles in my fist and flung at them and remarked: Stand up, stand up (go away) my friend (the Holy Prophet) told the truth.
Hadith 161
وحَدَّثَنَا زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ يَحْيَى ، يَقُولُ : سَأَلْتُ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ : أَيُّ الْقُرْآنِ أُنْزِلَ قَبْلُ ؟ قَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَوِ اقْرَأْ ، فَقَالَ : سَأَلْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : أَيُّ الْقُرْآنِ أُنْزِلَ قَبْلُ ؟ قَالَ : يَا أَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَوِ اقْرَأْ ، قَالَ جَابِرٌ : أُحَدِّثُكُمْ مَا حَدَّثَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " جَاوَرْتُ بِحِرَاءٍ شَهْرًا ، فَلَمَّا قَضَيْتُ جِوَارِي ، نَزَلْتُ فَاسْتَبْطَنْتُ بَطْنَ الْوَادِي ، فَنُودِيتُ فَنَظَرْتُ أَمَامِي ، وَخَلْفِي ، وَعَنْ يَمِينِي ، وَعَنْ شِمَالِي ، فَلَمْ أَرَ أَحَدًا ، ثُمَّ نُودِيتُ فَنَظَرْتُ فَلَمْ أَرَ أَحَدًا ، ثُمَّ نُودِيتُ فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي ، فَإِذَا هُوَ عَلَى الْعَرْشِ فِي الْهَوَاءِ يَعْنِي جِبْرِيلَ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام ، فَأَخَذَتْنِي رَجْفَةٌ شَدِيدَةٌ فَأَتَيْتُ خَدِيجَةَ ، فَقُلْتُ : دَثِّرُونِي ، فَدَثَّرُونِي ، فَصَبُّوا عَلَيَّ مَاءً " ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : يَأَيُّهَا الْمُدَّثِّرُ { 1 } قُمْ فَأَنْذِرْ { 2 } وَرَبَّكَ فَكَبِّرْ { 3 } وَثِيَابَكَ فَطَهِّرْ { 4 } سورة المدثر آية 1-4 .
Yahya reported: I asked Abu Salama what was revealed first from the Qur'an. He said:" 0, the shrouded one." I said: Or" Recite." Jabir said: I am narrating to you what was narrated to us by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . He said: I stayed in Hira' for one month and when my stay was completed, I come down and went into the heart of the valley. Somebody called me aloud. I looked in front of me, behind me, on the right of my side and on my left, but I did not see any body. I was again called and I looked about but saw nothing. I was called again and raised my head, and there on the Throne in the open atmosphere he, i. e. Gabriel (ؑ) (peace be upon him) was sitting. I began to tremble on account of fear. I came to Khadija (RA) and said: Wrap me up. They wrapped me up and threw water on me and Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, sent down this: you who are shrouded! arise and deliver warning, your Lord magnify, your clothes cleanse."
Hadith 161
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَالَ : فَإِذَا هُوَ جَالِسٌ عَلَى عَرْشٍ بَيْنَ السَّمَاءِ وَالأَرْضِ .
Yahya b Abi Kathir has reported this hadith with the same chain of transmitters and narrated: And there he was sitting on the Throne between the heaven and the earth.
Hadith 223
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبَّانُ بْنُ هِلَالٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبَانٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، أَنَّ زَيْدًا حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَّامٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الأَشْعَرِيِّ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " الطُّهُورُ شَطْرُ الإِيمَانِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ تَمْلَأُ الْمِيزَانَ ، وَسُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ تَمْلَآَنِ أَوْ تَمْلَأُ مَا بَيْنَ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالأَرْضِ ، وَالصَّلَاةُ نُورٌ ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ بُرْهَانٌ ، وَالصَّبْرُ ضِيَاءٌ ، وَالْقُرْآنُ حُجَّةٌ لَكَ أَوْ عَلَيْكَ ، كُلُّ النَّاسِ يَغْدُو ، فَبَائِعٌ نَفْسَهُ فَمُعْتِقُهَا أَوْ مُوبِقُهَا " .
Abu Malik at-Ash'ari reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Cleanliness is half of faith and al-Hamdu Lillah (Praise be to Allah) fills the scale, and Subhan Allah (Glory be to Allah) and al-Hamdu Lillah (Praise be to Allah) fill up what is between the heavens and the earth, and prayer is a light, and charity is proof (of one's faith) and endurance is a brightness and the Holy Qur'an is a proof on your behalf or against you. All men go out early in the morning and sell themselves, thereby setting themselves free or destroying themselves.
Hadith 240
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، وَأَبُو مَعْنٍ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عِكْرِمَةُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ، أَوْ حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَالِمٌ مَوْلَى الْمَهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : خَرَجْتُ أَنَا وَعَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ أَبِي بَكْرٍ فِي جَنَازَةِ سَعْدِ بْنِ أَبِي وَقَّاصٍ ، فَمَرَرْنَا عَلَى بَابِ حُجْرَةِ عَائِشَةَ ، فَذَكَرَ عَنْهَا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِثْلَهُ .
Salim, the freed slave of Mahri, reported: I and 'Abdul Rahman bin Abu Bakr (RA) went out in order to join the funeral procession of Sa'd bin Abi Waqqas and passed by the door of the residence of 'A'isha, and then he transmitted a hadith like this from her who (narrated it) from the Holy Prophet (ﷺ) .
Hadith 267
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا يُمْسِكَنَّ أَحَدُكُمْ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ وَهُوَ يَبُولُ ، وَلَا يَتَمَسَّحْ مِنَ الْخَلَاءِ بِيَمِينِهِ ، وَلَا يَتَنَفَّسْ فِي الإِنَاءِ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported it from his father: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: None of you should hold penis with his right hand while urinating, or wipe himself with his right hand in privy and should not breathe into the vessel (from which he drinks).
Hadith 267
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ الدَّسْتَوَائِيِّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا دَخَلَ أَحَدُكُمُ الْخَلَاءَ ، فَلَا يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported it from his father that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When anyone amongst you enters the privy he should not touch his penis with his right hand.
Hadith 267
حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " نَهَى أَنْ يَتَنَفَّسَ فِي الإِنَاءِ ، وَأَنْ يَمَسَّ ذَكَرَهُ بِيَمِينِهِ ، وَأَنْ يَسْتَطِيبَ بِيَمِينِهِ " .
Aba Qatada reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade (us) to breathe into the vessel, to touch the penis with the right hand and to wipe after relieving with right hand.
Hadith 296
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهَا ، قَالَتْ : " بَيْنَمَا أَنَا مُضْطَجِعَةٌ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْخَمِيلَةِ ، إِذْ حِضْتُ ، فَانْسَلَلْتُ ، فَأَخَذْتُ ثِيَابَ حِيضَتِي ، فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : أَنَفِسْتِ ؟ قُلْتُ : نَعَمْ ، فَدَعَانِي ، فَاضْطَجَعْتُ مَعَهُ فِي الْخَمِيلَةِ ، قَالَتْ : وَكَانَتْ هِيَ ، وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَغْتَسِلَانِ فِي الإِنَاءِ الْوَاحِدِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ " .
Umm Salamah reported: While I was lying with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in a bed cover I menstruated, so I slipped away and I took up the clothes (which I wore) in menses. Upon this the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Have you menstruated? I said: Yes. He called me and I lay down.
Hadith 324
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ زَيْنَبَ بِنْتَ أُمِّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ حَدَّثَتْهَا ، قَالْ : " كَانَتْ هِيَ وَرَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَغْتَسِلَانِ فِي الإِنَاءِ الْوَاحِدِ مِنَ الْجَنَابَةِ " .
Zainab bint Umm Salamah (the wife of the Holy Prophet) reported that Umm Salamah and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) took a bath from the same vessel.
Hadith 347
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، عَنِ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ ذَكْوَانَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ عَطَاءَ بْنَ يَسَارٍ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ زَيْدَ بْنَ خَالِدٍ الْجُهَنِيَّ أَخْبَرَهُ ، " أَنَّهُ سَأَلَ عُثْمَانَ بْنَ عَفَّانَ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِذَا جَامَعَ الرَّجُلُ امْرَأَتَهُ ، وَلَمْ يُمْنِ ؟ قَالَ عُثْمَانُ : " يَتَوَضَّأُ كَمَا يَتَوَضَّأُ لِلصَّلَاةِ وَيَغْسِلُ ذَكَرَهُ " ، قَالَ عُثْمَانُ : سَمِعْتُهُ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Zaid bin Khalid al-Jubani reported that he askad 'Uthman bin 'Affan: What is your opinion about the man who has sexual intercourse with his wife, but does not experience orgasm? 'Uthman said: He should perform ablution as he does for prayer, and wash his organ. 'Uthmin also said: I have heard it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 347
وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَارِثِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الصَّمَدِ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، عَنْ الْحُسَيْنِ ، قَالَ يَحْيَى : وَأَخْبَرَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ عُرْوَةَ بْنَ الزُّبَيْرِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا أَيُّوبَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
Abu Ayyub reported that he had heard like this from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 392
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الرَّازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ : " كَانَ يُكَبِّرُ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، كُلَّمَا رَفَعَ ، وَوَضَعَ ، فَقُلْنَا : يَا أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، مَا هَذَا التَّكْبِيرُ ؟ قَالَ : إِنَّهَا لَصَلَاةُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ " .
Abu Salama reported that Abu Hurairah (RA) recited takbir in prayer on all occasions of rising and kneeling. We said: O Abu Hurairah (RA) , what is this takbir? He said: Verily it is the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .
Hadith 451
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى الْعَنَزِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ الْحَجَّاجِ يَعْنِي الصَّوَّافَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى وَهُوَ ابْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، وَأَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي بِنَا ، فَيَقْرَأُ فِي الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ، فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُولَيَيْنِ ، بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَتَيْنِ ، وَيُسْمِعُنَا الآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا ، وَكَانَ يُطَوِّلُ الرَّكْعَةَ الأُولَى مِنَ الظُّهْرِ ، وَيُقَصِّرُ الثَّانِيَةَ ، وَكَذَلِكَ فِي الصُّبْحِ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) led us in prayer and recited in the first two rak'ahs of the noon and afternoon prayers Surat al-Fatiha and two (other) surahs. And he would sometimes recite loud enough for us to hear the verses. He would prolong the first rak'ah more than the second. And he acted similarly in the morning prayer.
Hadith 451
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا هَمَّامٌ ، وَأَبَانُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُولَيَيْنِ مِنَ الظُّهْرِ وَالْعَصْرِ ، بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ وَسُورَةٍ ، وَيُسْمِعُنَا الآيَةَ أَحْيَانًا ، وَيَقْرَأُ فِي الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ الأُخْرَيَيْنِ بِفَاتِحَةِ الْكِتَابِ " .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported it on the authority of his father: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would recite in the first two rak'ahs of the noon and afternoon prayers the opening chapter of the Book and another surah. He would sometimes recite loud enough to make audible to us the verse and would recite in the last two rak'ahs Surat al-Fatiha (only).
Hadith 489
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى أَبُو صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِقْلُ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ الأَوْزَاعِيَّ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي رَبِيعَةُ بْنُ كَعْبٍ الأَسْلَمِيُّ ، قَالَ : " كُنْتُ أَبِيتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِوَضُوئِهِ وَحَاجَتِهِ ، فَقَالَ لِي : سَلْ ، فَقُلْتُ : أَسْأَلُكَ مُرَافَقَتَكَ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ؟ قَالَ : أَوْ غَيْرَ ذَلِكَ ، قُلْتُ : هُوَ ذَاكَ ، قَالَ : فَأَعِنِّي عَلَى نَفْسِكَ ، بِكَثْرَةِ السُّجُودِ " .
Rabi'a bin Ka'b said: I was with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) one night and I brought him water and what he required. He said to me: Ask (anything you like). I said: I ask your company in Paradise. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Or anything else besides it. I said: That is all (what I require). He said: Then help me to achieve this for you by devoting yourself often to prostration.
Hadith 537
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَتَقَارَبَا فِي لَفْظِ الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ هِلَالِ بْنِ أَبِي مَيْمُونَةَ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَسَارٍ ، عَنْ مُعَاوِيَةَ بْنِ الْحَكَمِ السُّلَمِيِّ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، إِذْ عَطَسَ رَجُلٌ مِنَ الْقَوْمِ ، فَقُلْتُ : يَرْحَمُكَ اللَّهُ ، فَرَمَانِي الْقَوْمُ بِأَبْصَارِهِمْ ، فَقُلْتُ : وَا ثُكْلَ أُمِّيَاهْ ، مَا شَأْنُكُمْ تَنْظُرُونَ إِلَيَّ ؟ فَجَعَلُوا يَضْرِبُونَ بِأَيْدِيهِمْ عَلَى أَفْخَاذِهِمْ ، فَلَمَّا رَأَيْتُهُمْ يُصَمِّتُونَنِي ، لَكِنِّي سَكَتُّ ، فَلَمَّا صَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَبِأَبِي هُوَ وَأُمِّي ، مَا رَأَيْتُ مُعَلِّمًا قَبْلَهُ ، وَلَا بَعْدَهُ أَحْسَنَ تَعْلِيمًا مِنْهُ ، فَوَاللَّهِ مَا كَهَرَنِي وَلَا ضَرَبَنِي وَلَا شَتَمَنِي ، قَالَ : " إِنَّ هَذِهِ الصَّلَاةَ ، لَا يَصْلُحُ فِيهَا شَيْءٌ مِنْ كَلَامِ النَّاسِ ، إِنَّمَا هُوَ التَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ وَقِرَاءَةُ الْقُرْآنِ " ، أَوْ كَمَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، إِنِّي حَدِيثُ عَهْدٍ بِجَاهِلِيَّةٍ ، وَقَدْ جَاءَ اللَّهُ بِالإِسْلَامِ ، وَإِنَّ مِنَّا رِجَالًا يَأْتُونَ الْكُهَّانَ ، قَالَ : فَلَا تَأْتِهِمْ ، قَالَ : وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَتَطَيَّرُونَ ، قَالَ : ذَاكَ شَيْءٌ يَجِدُونَهُ فِي صُدُورِهِمْ ، فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّهُمْ ، قَالَ ابْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ : فَلَا يَصُدَّنَّكُمْ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : وَمِنَّا رِجَالٌ يَخُطُّونَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ يَخُطُّ ، فَمَنْ وَافَقَ خَطَّهُ ، فَذَاكَ ، قَالَ : وَكَانَتْ لِي جَارِيَةٌ ، تَرْعَى غَنَمًا لِي قِبَلَ أُحُدٍ وَالْجَوَّانِيَّةِ ، فَاطَّلَعْتُ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ، فَإِذَا الذِّيبُ قَدْ ذَهَبَ بِشَاةٍ مِنْ غَنَمِهَا ، وَأَنَا رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي آدَمَ ، آسَفُ كَمَا يَأْسَفُونَ ، لَكِنِّي صَكَكْتُهَا صَكَّةً ، فَأَتَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَعَظَّمَ ذَلِكَ عَلَيَّ ، قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَفَلَا أُعْتِقُهَا ؟ قَالَ : ائْتِنِي بِهَا ، فَأَتَيْتُهُ بِهَا ، فَقَالَ لَهَا : أَيْنَ اللَّهُ ؟ قَالَتْ : فِي السَّمَاءِ ، قَالَ : مَنْ أَنَا ؟ قَالَتْ : أَنْتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : أَعْتِقْهَا ، فَإِنَّهَا مُؤْمِنَةٌ .
Mu'awiyah bin al-Hakam said: While I was praying with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) , a man in the company sneezed. I said: Allah have mercy on you! The people stared at me with disapproving looks, so I said: Woe be upon me, why is it that you stare at me? They began to strike their hands on their thighs, and when I saw them urging me to observe silence (I became angry) but I said nothing. When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had said the prayer (and I declare that neither before him nor after him have I seen a leader who gave better instruction than he for whom I would give my father and mother as ransom). I swear that he did not scold, beat or revile me but said: Talking to persons is not fitting during the prayer, for it consists of glorifying Allah, declaring his Greatness. and recitation of the Qur'an or words to that effect. I said: Messenger of Allah. I was till recently a pagan, but Allah has brought Islam to us; among us there are men who have recourse to Kahins. He said, Do not have recourse to them. I said. There are men who take omens. That is something which they find in their breasts, but let it not turn their way (from freedom of action). I said: Among us there are men who draw lines. He said: There was a prophet who drew lines, so if they do it as they did, that is allowable. I had a maid-servant who tended goats by the side of Uhud and Jawwaniya. One day I happened to pass that way and found that a wolf had carried a goat from her flock. I am after all a man from the posterity of Adam. I felt sorry as they (human beings) feel sorry. So I slapped her. I came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and felt (this act of mine) as something grievous I said: Messenger of Allah, should I not grant her freedom? He (the Holy Prophet) said: Bring her to me. So I brought her to him. He said to her: Where is Allah? She said: He is in the heaven. He said: Who am I? She said: Thou art the Messenger of Allah. He said: Grant her freedom, she is a believing woman.
Hadith 537
حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، بِهَذَا الإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated by Yahya bin Abu Kathir with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 546
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتَوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُعَيْقِيبٍ ، قَالَ : ذَكَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْمَسْحَ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ يَعْنِي الْحَصَى ، قَالَ : " إِنْ كُنْتَ لَا بُدَّ فَاعِلًا ، فَوَاحِدَةً " .
Mu'aiqib quoted the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) mentioning the removal of pebbles from the ground where he prostrated himself. He (the Prophet) said: It you must do so, do it only once.
Hadith 546
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ مُعَيْقِيبٍ ، " أَنَّهُمْ سَأَلُوا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، عَنِ الْمَسْحِ فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، فَقَالَ : " وَاحِدَةً " .
Mu'aiqib said: They asked the Apostle (ﷺ) about the removal of (pebbles) in prayer, whereupon he said: If you do it, do it only once.
Hadith 546
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي مُعَيْقِيبٌ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فِي الرَّجُلِ يُسَوِّي التُّرَابَ حَيْثُ يَسْجُدُ ، قَالَ : " إِنْ كُنْتَ فَاعِلًا ، فَوَاحِدَةً " .
Mu'aiqib said: They asked the Apostle (صَلَّی اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ) about the removal of (pebbles) in prayer, whereupon he said: If you do it, do it only once.
Hadith 569
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالأَذَانِ ، أَدْبَرَ الشَّيْطَانُ لَهُ ضُرَاطٌ ، حَتَّى لَا يَسْمَعَ الأَذَانَ ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ الأَذَانُ أَقْبَلَ ، فَإِذَا ثُوِّبَ بِهَا أَدْبَرَ ، فَإِذَا قُضِيَ التَّثْوِيبُ أَقْبَلَ ، يَخْطُرُ بَيْنَ الْمَرْءِ وَنَفْسِهِ ، يَقُولُ : اذْكُرْ كَذَا ، اذْكُرْ كَذَا ، لِمَا لَمْ يَكُنْ يَذْكُرُ ، حَتَّى يَظَلَّ الرَّجُلُ إِنْ يَدْرِي كَمْ صَلَّى ، فَإِذَا لَمْ يَدْرِ أَحَدُكُمْ كَمْ صَلَّى ، فَلْيَسْجُدْ سَجْدَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ " ,
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When there is a call to prayer the devil runs back breaking the wind so that he may not hear the call, and when the call is complete he comes back. And when the takbir is pronounced he again runs back, and when takbir is over he comes back and distracts a man saying: Remember such and such, remember such and such, referring to something the man did not have in his mind. with the result that he does not know how much he has prayed; so when any one of you is not sure how much he has prayed. he should perform two prostrations while sitting (qa'da).
Hadith 573
وَحَدَّثَنِي حَجَّاجُ بْنُ الشَّاعِرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا هَارُونُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل الْخَزَّازُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيٌّ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، صَلَّى رَكْعَتَيْنِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الظُّهْرِ ، ثُمَّ سَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَاهُ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ ، فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَقُصِرَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، أَمْ نَسِيتَ ؟ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said two rak'ahs of the noon prayer and then gave salutation when a man from Bani Sulaim came to him and said: Messenger of Allah. has the prayer been shortened, or have you forgotten? -and the rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 573
وحَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَا أَنَا أُصَلِّي مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، صَلَاةَ الظُّهْرِ ، سَلَّمَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مِنَ الرَّكْعَتَيْنِ ، فَقَامَ رَجُلٌ مِنْ بَنِي سُلَيْمٍ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: I offered with the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) the noon prayer and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) gave salutation after two rak'ahs. A person from Bani Sulaim stood up, and the rest of the hadith was narrated as mentioned above.
Hadith 578
وحَدَّثَنِي إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى ، عَنِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ . ح ، قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
A hadith like this has been narrated by AbuSalama on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) .
Hadith 588
وحَدَّثَنَا نَصْرُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْجَهْضَمِيُّ ، وَابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ وَكِيعٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ : حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ حَسَّانَ بْنِ عَطِيَّةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ أَبِي عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، وَعَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا تَشَهَّدَ أَحَدُكُمْ ، فَلْيَسْتَعِذْ بِاللَّهِ مِنْ أَرْبَعٍ ، يَقُولُ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ جَهَنَّمَ ، وَمِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَمِنْ فِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ ، وَمِنْ شَرِّ فِتْنَةِ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When any one of you utters tashahhud (in prayer) he must seek refuge with Allah from four (trials) and should thus say:" O Allah! I seek refuge with Thee from the torment of the Hell, from the torment of the grave, from the trial of life and death and from the evil of the trial of Masih al-Dajjal" (Antichrist).
Hadith 588
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ نَبِيُّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي أَعُوذُ بِكَ مِنْ عَذَابِ الْقَبْرِ ، وَعَذَابِ النَّارِ ، وَفِتْنَةِ الْمَحْيَا وَالْمَمَاتِ ، وَشَرِّ الْمَسِيحِ الدَّجَّالِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: O Allah! I seek refuge with Thee from the torment of the grave, and the torment of Hell, and the trial of life and death and the mischief of Masih al-Dajjal.
Hadith 603
حَدَّثَنِي إِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُبَارَكِ الصُّورِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَاهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، قَالَ : بَيْنَمَا نَحْنُ نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَسَمِعَ جَلَبَةً ، فَقَالَ : " مَا شَأْنُكُمْ " ؟ قَالُوا : اسْتَعْجَلْنَا إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، قَالَ : فَلَا تَفْعَلُوا ، " إِذَا أَتَيْتُمُ الصَّلَاةَ ، فَعَلَيْكُمُ السَّكِينَةُ ، فَمَا أَدْرَكْتُمْ فَصَلُّوا ، وَمَا سَبَقَكُمْ فَأَتِمُّوا " .
'Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah (RA) reported on the authority of his father: While we said our prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) he heard tumult. (At the end of the prayer) he (the Holy Prophet) said: What is the matter with you? They said: We hastened to prayer. He (the Holy Prophet) said: Don't do that; when you come for prayer, there should be tranquility upon you. Pray (along with the Imam) what you can find and complete what preceded you.
Hadith 604
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، وَعُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجٍ الصَّوَّافِ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، وَعَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا أُقِيمَتِ الصَّلَاةُ ، فَلَا تَقُومُوا ، حَتَّى تَرَوْنِي " . وقَالَ ابْنُ حَاتِمٍ : إِذَا أُقِيمَتْ أَوْ نُودِيَ .
Abu Qatadah (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: When when he hears the Iqamah is pronounced do not get up till you see me Ibn Hatim was in doubt whether it was said:" When when he hears the Iqamah is pronounced" or" When call is made".
Hadith 604
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ ، وَحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُلَيَّةَ ، عَنْ حَجَّاجِ بْنِ أَبِي عُثْمَانَ . ح قَالَ : وحَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ ، وَعَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، وَقَالَ إِسْحَاق ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، عَنْ شَيْبَانَ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَزَادَ إِسْحَاق فِي رِوَايَتِهِ حَدِيثَ مَعْمَرٍ وَشَيْبَانَ : حَتَّى تَرَوْنِي قَدْ خَرَجْتُ .

Hadith 612
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى التَّمِيمِيُّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي ، يَقُولُ : " لَا يُسْتَطَاعُ الْعِلْمُ بِرَاحَةِ الْجِسْمِ " .
'Abdullah narrated it on the authority of his father Yahya: Knowledge cannot be acquired with sloth.
Hadith 631
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو غَسَّانَ الْمِسْمَعِيُّ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ هِشَامٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو غَسَّانَ : حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عُمَرَ بْنَ الْخَطَّابِ ، يَوْمَ الْخَنْدَقِ ، جَعَلَ يَسُبُّ كُفَّارَ قُرَيْشٍ ، وَقَالَ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، وَاللَّهِ مَا كِدْتُ أَنْ أُصَلِّيَ الْعَصْرَ ، حَتَّى كَادَتْ أَنْ تَغْرُبَ الشَّمْسُ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : فَوَاللَّهِ إِنْ صَلَّيْتُهَا ، فَنَزَلْنَا إِلَى بُطْحَانَ ، فَتَوَضَّأَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَتَوَضَّأْنَا ، " فَصَلَّى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الْعَصْرَ ، بَعْدَ مَا غَرَبَتِ الشَّمْسُ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بَعْدَهَا الْمَغْرِبَ " .
Jabir bin 'Abdullah reported that Umar bin al-Khattab had been cursing the pagans of the Quraish on the day (of the Battle) of Khandaq (Ditch). (He came to the Holy Prophet (ﷺ)) and said: Messenger of Allah, by God, I could not say. the 'Asr prayer till the sun set. Upon this the Messenger (ﷺ) said: By Allah I, too, have not observed it. So we went to a valley. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) performed ablution and we too performed ablution, and then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said the 'Asr prayer after the sun had set and then said the evening prayer after it.
Hadith 631
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا وَقَالَ إِسْحَاق أَخْبَرَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْمُبَارَكِ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، فِي هَذَا الإِسْنَادِ بِمِثْلِهِ .
This hadith has been reported by Yahya bin Abd Kathir with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 675
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِهْرَانَ الرَّازِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الأَوْزَاعِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ حَدَّثَهُمْ ، " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَنَتَ بَعْدَ الرَّكْعَةِ فِي صَلَاةٍ شَهْرًا ، إِذَا قَالَ : سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ، يَقُولُ فِي قُنُوتِهِ : اللَّهُمَّ أَنْجِ الْوَلِيدَ بْنَ الْوَلِيدِ ، اللَّهُمَّ نَجِّ سَلَمَةَ بْنَ هِشَامٍ ، اللَّهُمَّ نَجِّ عَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ ، اللَّهُمَّ نَجِّ الْمُسْتَضْعَفِينَ مِنَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، اللَّهُمَّ اشْدُدْ وَطْأَتَكَ عَلَى مُضَرَ ، اللَّهُمَّ اجْعَلْهَا عَلَيْهِمْ سِنِينَ كَسِنِي يُوسُفَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : ثُمَّ رَأَيْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، تَرَكَ الدُّعَاءَ بَعْدُ ، فَقُلْتُ : أُرَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَدْ تَرَكَ الدُّعَاءَ لَهُمْ ، قَالَ : فَقِيلَ : وَمَا تُرَاهُمْ قَدْ قَدِمُوا .
Abu Salama reported it on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) recited Qunut after ruku' in prayer for one month at the time of reciting (these words): "Allah listened to him who praised Him," and he said in Qunut: "O Allah! rescue al-Walid bin al-Walid; O Allah! rescue Salama bin Hisham; O Allah! rescue 'Ayyash bin Abu Rabi'a; O Allah! rescue the helpless amongst the Muslims; O Allah! trample Mudar severely; O Allah! cause them a famine like that (which was caused at the time) of Joseph." Abu Hurairah (RA) (further) said: I saw that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) afterwards abandoned this supplication. I, therefore said: I see the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) abandoning this blessing upon them. It was said to him ( Abu Hurairah (RA) ): Don't you see that (those for whom was blessing invoked by the Holy Prophet) have come (i. e. they have been rescued)?
Hadith 675
وحَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَانُ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بَيْنَمَا هُوَ يُصَلِّي الْعِشَاءَ ، إِذْ قَالَ : سَمِعَ اللَّهُ لِمَنْ حَمِدَهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ قَبْلَ أَنْ يَسْجُدَ : اللَّهُمَّ نَجِّ عَيَّاشَ بْنَ أَبِي رَبِيعَةَ ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ الأَوْزَاعِيِّ ، إِلَى قَوْلِهِ : كَسِنِي يُوسُفَ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ مَا بَعْدَهُ .
Abu Salama narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) told him that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) pronounced: "Allah listened to him who praised Him." and before prostration, he would recite this in the 'Isha' prayer: O Allah! rescue 'Ayyash bin Abu Rabi'a, and the rest of the hadith is the same as narrated by Auza'i to the words: "Like the famine (at the time) if Joseph." but he made no mention of that which follows afterwards.
Hadith 676
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاذُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو سَلَمَةَ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : وَاللَّهِ لَأُقَرِّبَنَّ بِكُمْ صَلَاةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَكَانَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، " يَقْنُتُ فِي الظُّهْرِ ، وَالْعِشَاءِ الآخِرَةِ ، وَصَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ ، وَيَدْعُو لِلْمُؤْمِنِينَ ، وَيَلْعَنُ الْكُفَّارَ " .
Abu Salama bin 'Abdul Rahman is reported to have said that he had heard Abu Hurairah (RA) saying: I would say prayer along with you which is near to the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) . and Abu Hurairah (RA) recited Qunut in the noon and in the 'Isha' and in the morning prayer, and invoked blessing (of Allah) upon Muslims-and curse upon the unbelievers.
Hadith 724
وحَدَّثَنَاه مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنَّ نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، " كَانَ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَيْنَ النِّدَاءِ وَالإِقَامَةِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ " .
'A'isha reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) used to observe two rak'ahs of Sunnah (prayer) when he heard the Adhan and shortened them. (This hadith has been narrated by the same chain of transmitters and in the hadith narrated by Usama the words are:" When it was dawn".)
Hadith 738
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ ، عَنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَتْ : " كَانَ يُصَلِّي ثَلَاثَ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً ، يُصَلِّي ثَمَانَ رَكَعَاتٍ ، ثُمَّ يُوتِرُ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ وَهُوَ جَالِسٌ ، فَإِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَرْكَعَ قَامَ فَرَكَعَ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَيْنَ النِّدَاءِ وَالإِقَامَةِ مِنَ صَلَاةِ الصُّبْحِ " .
Abu Salama asked 'A'isha about the prayer of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) She said: He observed thirteen rak'ahs (in the night prayer). He observed eight rak'ahs and would then observe Witr and then observe two rak'ahs sitting, and when he wanted to bow he stood up and then bowed down, and then observed two rak'ahs in between the Adhan and lqama of the dawn prayer.
