Hadith 144
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَعَمْرُو بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، وَعُقْبَةُ بْنُ مُكْرَمٍ الْعَمِّيُّ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عَدِيٍّ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ التَّيْمِيِّ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، عَنْ حُذَيْفَةَ أَنَّ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : مَنْ يُحَدِّثُنَا ؟ أَوَ قَالَ : أَيُّكُمْ يُحَدِّثُنَا ، وَفِيهِمْ حُذَيْفَةُ ، مَا قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْفِتْنَةِ ، قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ : أَنَا ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ كَنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ أَبِي مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيٍّ ، وَقَالَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ، قَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ : حَدَّثْتُهُ حَدِيثًا لَيْسَ بِالأَغَالِيطِ ، وَقَالَ : يَعْنِي أَنَّهُ عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ .
It is transmitted by Rib'i bin Hirash. who narrated it on the authority of Hudhaifa that verily 'Umar said: Who would narrate to us or who amongst you would narrate to us (and Hudhaifa was one amongst them) what the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) had said about the turmoil? Hudhaifa said: I will, and recited the hadith like that transmitted by Abu Malik on the authority of Rib'i and he observed in connection with this hadith that Hudhaifa remarked: I am narrating to you a hadith and it has no mistake, and said: That it is transmitted from he Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) .

Hadith 1560
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، قَالَ : اجْتَمَعَ حُذَيْفَةُ ، وَأَبُو مَسْعُودٍ ، فَقَالَ حُذَيْفَةُ : " رَجُلٌ لَقِيَ رَبَّهُ ، فَقَالَ : مَا عَمِلْتَ ؟ قَالَ : مَا عَمِلْتُ مِنَ الْخَيْرِ ، إِلَّا أَنِّي كُنْتُ رَجُلًا ذَا مَالٍ ، فَكُنْتُ أُطَالِبُ بِهِ النَّاسَ ، فَكُنْتُ أَقْبَلُ الْمَيْسُورَ ، وَأَتَجَاوَزُ عَنِ الْمَعْسُورِ ، فَقَالَ : تَجَاوَزُوا عَنْ عَبْدِي " ، قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ : هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ .
Hudhaifa reported: A person met his Lord (after death) and He said: What (good) did you do? He said: I did no good except this that I was a rich man, and I demanded from the people (the repayment of debt that I advanced to them). I, however, accepted that which the solvent gave and remitted (the debt) of the insolvent, whereupon He (the Lord) said: You should ignore (the faults) of My servant. Abu Mas'ud (RA) said: This is what I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying.

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى الْقَيْسِيُّ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي نُعَيْمُ بْنُ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي حَازِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَبُو جَهْلٍ : هَلْ يُعَفِّرُ مُحَمَّدٌ وَجْهَهُ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِكُمْ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَقِيلَ : نَعَمْ ، فَقَالَ : وَاللَّاتِ وَالْعُزَّى لَئِنْ رَأَيْتُهُ يَفْعَلُ ذَلِكَ لَأَطَأَنَّ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ ، أَوْ لَأُعَفِّرَنَّ وَجْهَهُ فِي التُّرَابِ ، قَالَ : فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يُصَلِّي زَعَمَ لِيَطَأَ عَلَى رَقَبَتِهِ ، قَالَ : فَمَا فَجِئَهُمْ مِنْهُ إِلَّا وَهُوَ يَنْكُصُ عَلَى عَقِبَيْهِ ، وَيَتَّقِي بِيَدَيْهِ ، قَالَ : فَقِيلَ لَهُ : مَا لَكَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ بَيْنِي وَبَيْنَهُ لَخَنْدَقًا مِنْ نَارٍ وَهَوْلًا وَأَجْنِحَةً ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ دَنَا مِنِّي لَاخْتَطَفَتْهُ الْمَلَائِكَةُ عُضْوًا عُضْوًا ، قَالَ : فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ لَا نَدْرِي فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ أَوْ شَيْءٌ بَلَغَهُ كَلَّا إِنَّ الإِنْسَانَ لَيَطْغَى { 6 } أَنْ رَآهُ اسْتَغْنَى { 7 } إِنَّ إِلَى رَبِّكَ الرُّجْعَى { 8 } أَرَأَيْتَ الَّذِي يَنْهَى { 9 } عَبْدًا إِذَا صَلَّى { 10 } أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَانَ عَلَى الْهُدَى { 11 } أَوْ أَمَرَ بِالتَّقْوَى { 12 } أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ كَذَّبَ وَتَوَلَّى { 13 } سورة العلق آية 6-13 يَعْنِي أَبَا جَهْلٍ أَلَمْ يَعْلَمْ بِأَنَّ اللَّهَ يَرَى { 14 } كَلَّا لَئِنْ لَمْ يَنْتَهِ لَنَسْفَعًا بِالنَّاصِيَةِ { 15 } نَاصِيَةٍ كَاذِبَةٍ خَاطِئَةٍ { 16 } فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ { 17 } سَنَدْعُ الزَّبَانِيَةَ { 18 } كَلَّا لا تُطِعْهُ سورة العلق آية 14-19 زَادَ عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ فِي حَدِيثِهِ ، قَالَ : وَأَمَرَهُ بِمَا أَمَرَهُ بِهِ ، وَزَادَ ابْنُ عَبْدِ الْأَعْلَى ، فَلْيَدْعُ نَادِيَهُ : يَعْنِي قَوْمَهُ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Abu Jahl asked (people) whether Muhammad placed his face (on the ground) in their presence. It was said to him: Yes. He said: By Lat and Uzza. If I were to see him do that, I would trample his neck, or I would besmear his face with dust. He came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as he was engaged in prayer and thought of trampling his neck and the people said that he came near him but turned upon his heels and tried to repulse something with his hands. It was said to him: What is the matter with you? He said: There is between me and him a ditch of fire and terror and wings. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (may peace he upon him) said: If he were to come near me the angels would have torn him to pieces. Then Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, revealed this verse- (the narrator) said: We do not whether it is the hadith transmitted to Abu Hurairah (RA) or something conveyed to him from another source: "Nay, man is surely inordinate, because he looks upon himself as self-sufficient. Surely to thy Lord is the return. Hast thou seen him who forbids a servant when he prays? Seest thou if he is on the right way, or enjoins observance of piety? Seest thou if he [Abu Jah]] denies and turns away? Knowest he not that Allah sees? Nay. if he desists not, We will seize him by the forelock-a lying, sinful forelock. Then let him summon his council. We will summon the guards of the Hell. Nay! Obey not thou him" (Icvi. 6-19). (Rather prostrate thyself.) Ubaidullah made this addition: It was after this that (prostration) was enjoined upon and Ibn Abdul Ala made this addition that by Nadia he meant his people.

Hadith 2935
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، وَإِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ وَاللَّفْظُ لِابْنِ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَ إِسْحَاقُ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ حُجْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ نُعَيْمِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ رِبْعِيِّ بْنِ حِرَاشٍ ، قَالَ : اجْتَمَعَ حُذَيْفَةُ وَأَبُو مَسْعُودٍ ، فقال حذيفة " لَأَنَا بِمَا مَعَ الدَّجَّالِ أَعْلَمُ مِنْهُ إِنَّ مَعَهُ نَهْرًا مِنْ مَاءٍ وَنَهْرًا مِنْ نَارٍ ، فَأَمَّا الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ نَارٌ مَاءٌ ، وَأَمَّا الَّذِي تَرَوْنَ أَنَّهُ مَاءٌ نَارٌ ، فَمَنْ أَدْرَكَ ذَلِكَ مِنْكُمْ فَأَرَادَ الْمَاءَ ، فَلْيَشْرَبْ مِنَ الَّذِي يَرَاهُ أَنَّهُ نَارٌ ، فَإِنَّهُ سَيَجِدُهُ مَاءً " ، قَالَ أَبُو مَسْعُودٍ : هَكَذَا سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ .
Hudhaifa and Ibn Mas'ud met together. Hudhaifa said: I know more than you as to what there would be along with the Dajjal. There would be along with him two canals (one flowing with water) and the other one (having) fire (within it), and what you would see as fire would be water and what you would see as water would be fire. So he who amongst you is able to see that and is desirous of water should drink out of that which he sees as fire.
