Hadith 647
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَنْبَأَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنِ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : " لَمْ نَكُنْ نَرَى الصُّفْرَةَ ، وَالْكُدْرَةَ شَيْئًا " .
´It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said:` "We did not think anything of the yellowish or brownish discharge." (Sahih) (Another chain) It was narrated that Umm 'Atiyyah said: "We did not think that the yellowish or brownish discharge counted for anything." Muhammad bin Yahya said: "Wuhaib (who narrated the second version) is the better of them with this according to us."
Hadith 647M
قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : " كُنَّا لَا نَعُدُّ الصُّفْرَةَ ، وَالْكُدْرَةَ شَيْئًا " ، قَالَ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى : وُهَيْبٌ أَوْلَاهُمَا عِنْدَنَا بِهَذَا .
With this chain also, Umm Atiyyah (may Allah be pleased with her) says: (After attaining purity) we did not consider yellowish and brownish discharge to be of any significance 1. Muhammad bin Yahya says: In this regard, from our perspective, Wahib is preferred over both of them.
Hadith 1307
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : " أَمَرَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ نُخْرِجَهُنَّ فِي يَوْمِ الْفِطْرِ ، وَالنَّحْرِ " ، قَالَ : قَالَتْ أُمُّ عَطِيَّةَ : فَقُلْنَا : أَرَأَيْتَ إِحْدَاهُنَّ لَا يَكُونُ لَهَا جِلْبَابٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : " فَلْتُلْبِسْهَا أُخْتُهَا مِنْ جِلْبَابِهَا " .
´It was narrated that Umm ‘Atiyyah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) commanded us to bring them (the women) out on the day of Fitr and the day of Nahr.” Umm ‘Atiyyah said: “We said: ‘What if one of them does not have an outer covering?’ He said: ‘Let her sister share her own outer covering with her.’”
Hadith 1308
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الصَّبَّاحِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَخْرِجُوا الْعَوَاتِقَ ، وَذَوَاتِ الْخُدُورِ لِيَشْهَدْنَ الْعِيدَ ، وَدَعْوَةَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ، وَلْيَجْتَنِبَنَّ الْحُيَّضُ مُصَلَّى النَّاسِ " .
´It was narrated that Umm ‘Atiyyah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Bring out the women who have attained puberty and those who are in seclusion so that they may attend the ‘Eid prayer and (join in) the supplication of the Muslims. But let the women who are menstruating avoid the prayer place.”
Hadith 1458
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : دَخَلَ عَلَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَنَحْنُ نُغَسِّلُ ابْنَتَهُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ ، فَقَالَ : " اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا أَوْ خَمْسًا أَوْ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ ذَلِكَ ، إِنْ رَأَيْتُنَّ ذَلِكَ بِمَاءٍ وَسِدْرٍ ، وَاجْعَلْنَ فِي الْآخِرَةِ كَافُورًا أَوْ شَيْئًا مِنْ كَافُورٍ ، فَإِذَا فَرَغْتُنَّ فَآذِنَّنِي " ، فَلَمَّا فَرَغْنَا آذَنَّاهُ ، " فَأَلْقَى إِلَيْنَا حَقْوَهُ ، وَقَالَ : أَشْعِرْنَهَا إِيَّاهُ " .
´Muhammad bin Sirin narrated that Umm ‘Atiyyah said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) entered upon us when we were washing his daughter Umm Kulthum. He said: ‘Wash her three or five times, or more than that if you think you need to, with water and lote leaves, and put camphor or a little camphor in (the water) for the last washing. When you have finished, call for me.’ When we finished, we called him, and he gave his waist-wrapper to us and said: ‘Shroud her with it.’”
Hadith 1459
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَهَّابِ الثَّقَفِيُّ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، حَدَّثَتْنِي حَفْصَةُ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، وَكَانَ فِي حَدِيثِ حَفْصَةَ " اغْسِلْنَهَا وِتْرًا ، وَكَانَ فِيهِ اغْسِلْنَهَا ثَلَاثًا ، أَوْ خَمْسًا ، وَكَانَ فِيهِ ابْدَءُوا بِمَيَامِنِهَا ، وَمَوَاضِعِ الْوُضُوءِ مِنْهَا ، وَكَانَ فِيهِ أَنَّ أُمَّ عَطِيَّةَ قَالَتْ : وَامْشِطْنَهَا ثَلَاثَةَ قُرُونٍ " .
´It was narrated from Ayyub who said:` “Hafsah narrated to me, from Umm ‘Atiyyah” and it is similar to the Hadith of Muhammad. And in the narration of Hafsah it says: “Wash her an odd number of times.” And: “Wash her face three or five times.” And “Start on her right, with the places washed in ablution.” And it says that Umm ‘Atiyyah said: “And we combed her hair into three braids.”
Hadith 1577
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : " نُهِينَا عَنِ اتِّبَاعِ الْجَنَائِزِ وَلَمْ يُعْزَمْ عَلَيْنَا " .
´It was narrated that Umm ‘Atiyyah said:` “We were prevented from following the funeral, but that was not made binding on us.”
Hadith 2087
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ حَسَّانَ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ ، قَالَتْ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَا تُحِدُّ عَلَى مَيِّتٍ فَوْقَ ثَلَاثٍ إِلَّا امْرَأَةٌ تُحِدُّ عَلَى زَوْجِهَا أَرْبَعَةَ أَشْهُرٍ وَعَشْرًا وَلَا تَلْبَسُ ثَوْبًا مَصْبُوغًا إِلَّا ثَوْبَ عَصْبٍ ، وَلَا تَكْتَحِلُ وَلَا تَطَيَّبُ إِلَّا عِنْدَ أَدْنَى طُهْرِهَا بِنُبْذَةٍ مِنْ قُسْطٍ أَوْ أَظْفَارٍ " .
´It was narrated from Umm 'Atiyyah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` 'No deceased person should be mourned for more than three days, except a woman should mourn for her husband for four months and ten days, and she should not wear dyed clothes, except for a garment of 'Asb, and she should not wear kohl or perfume, except at the beginning of her purity, when she may apply a little Qust and Azfar.’”
Hadith 2856
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحِيمِ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ، عَنْ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ حَفْصَةَ بِنْتِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أُمِّ عَطِيَّةَ الْأَنْصَارِيَّةِ ، قَالَتْ : " غَزَوْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سَبْعَ غَزَوَاتٍ ، أَخْلُفُهُمْ فِي رِحَالِهِمْ ، وَأَصْنَعُ لَهُمُ الطَّعَامَ ، وَأُدَاوِي الْجَرْحَى ، وَأَقُومُ عَلَى الْمَرْضَى " .
´It was narrated that Umm ‘Atiyyah Al-Ansariyyah said:` “I fought alongside the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) in seven campaigns, looking after their goods, making food for them, tending the wounded and looking after the sick.”
