Hadith 280
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ شَابُورَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ أَخِيهِ ، أَنَّهُ أَخْبَرَهُ ، عَنْ جَدِّهِ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ غَنْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَالِكٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِسْبَاغُ الْوُضُوءِ شَطْرُ الْإِيمَانِ ، وَالْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ تَمْلأُ الْمِيزَانِ ، وَالتَّسْبِيحُ وَالتَّكْبِيرُ مِلْءُ السَّمَاوَاتِ وَالْأَرْضِ ، وَالصَّلَاةُ نُورٌ ، وَالزَّكَاةُ بُرْهَانٌ ، وَالصَّبْرُ ضِيَاءٌ ، وَالْقُرْآنُ حُجَّةٌ لَكَ أَوْ عَلَيْكَ ، كُلُّ النَّاسِ يَغْدُو فَبَائِعٌ نَفْسَهُ فَمُعْتِقُهَا ، أَوْ مُوبِقُهَا " .
´It was narrated from Abu Malik Ash'ari that:` The Messenger of Allah said: "Performing ablution properly is half of faith, saying Al-Hamdu Lillah fills the Scale (of good deeds), saying Subhan-Allah and Allahu Akbar fills the heavens and the earth, prayer is light, Zakat is proof, patience is brightness and the Qur'an is proof for you or against you. Every person goes out in the morning to sell his soul, so he either frees it or destroys it.'"
Hadith 455
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل الدِّمَشْقِيَّانِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا الْوَلِيدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شَيْبَةُ بْنُ الْأَحْنَفِ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي صَالِحٍ الْأَشْعَرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الْأَشْعَرِيُّ ، عَنْ خَالِدِ بْنِ الْوَلِيدِ ، وَيَزِيدَ بْنِ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، وَشُرَحْبِيلَ بْنِ حَسَنَةَ وَعَمْرَو بْنِ الْعَاصِ ، كُلُّ هَؤُلاءِ سَمِعُوا مِنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " أَتِمُّوا الْوُضُوءَ ، وَيْلٌ لِلْأَعْقَابِ مِنَ النَّارِ " .
´It was narrated from Khalid bin Walid, Yazid bin Abu Sufyan, Shurahbil bin Hasanah and 'Amr bin 'As that:` They all heard the Messenger of Allah say: 'Complete the ablution. Woe to the heels because of Hell-fire."
Hadith 2811
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ هَارُونَ ، أَنْبَأَنَا هِشَامٌ الدَّسْتُوَائِيُّ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ الْأَزْرَقِ ، عَنْ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ عَامِرٍ الْجُهَنِيِّ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَالَ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ لَيُدْخِلُ بِالسَّهْمِ الْوَاحِدِ الثَّلَاثَةَ الْجَنَّةَ : صَانِعَهُ يَحْتَسِبُ فِي صَنْعَتِهِ الْخَيْرَ ، وَالرَّامِيَ بِهِ ، وَالْمُمِدَّ بِهِ " . (حديث مرفوع) (حديث موقوف) وَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ارْمُوا ، وَارْكَبُوا ، وَأَنْ تَرْمُوا ، أَحَبُّ إِلَيَّ مِنْ أَنْ تَرْكَبُوا ، وَكُلُّ مَا يَلْهُو بِهِ الْمَرْءُ الْمُسْلِمُ بَاطِلٌ ، إِلَّا رَمْيَهُ بِقَوْسِهِ وَتَأْدِيبَهُ فَرَسَهُ ، وَمُلَاعَبَتَهُ امْرَأَتَهُ ، فَإِنَّهُنَّ مِنَ الْحَقِّ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Uqbah bin ‘Amir Al-Juhani that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “Allah will admit three people to Paradise by virtue of one arrow: The one who makes it, seeking reward by making it well; the one who shoots it; and the one who hands it to him.” And the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Shoot and ride, and if you shoot that is dearer to me than if you ride. All things that a Muslim man does for entertainment are in vain except for shooting arrows, training his horse and playing with his wife, for these are things that bring reward.”
Hadith 2852
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ الزُّرَقِيِّ ، عَنْ سُلَيْمَانَ بْنِ مُوسَى ، عَنْ مَكْحُولٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْأَعْرَجِ ، عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ ، عَنْ عُبَادَةَ بْنِ الصَّامِتِ ، أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " نَفَّلَ فِي الْبَدْأَةِ الرُّبُعَ ، وَفِي الرَّجْعَةِ الثُّلُثَ " .
It was narrated from ‘Ubadah bin Samit that the Prophet (ﷺ) awarded one quarter of the spoils to those who attacked the enemy at the beginning and one third to those who attacked at the end.
Hadith 3870
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ بِشْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مِسْعَرٌ , حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَقِيلٍ , عَنْ سَابِقٍ , عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ , خَادِمِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مُسْلِمٍ , أَوْ إِنْسَانٍ , أَوْ عَبْدٍ , يَقُولُ حِينَ يُمْسِي وَحِينَ يُصْبِحُ : رَضِيتُ بِاللَّهِ رَبًّا , وَبِالْإِسْلَامِ دِينًا , وَبِمُحَمَّدٍ نَبِيًّا , إِلَّا كَانَ حَقًّا عَلَى اللَّهِ أَنْ يُرْضِيَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Salam, the servant of the Prophet (saas), that :` the Prophet (saas) said: "There is no Muslim - or no person, or slave (of Allah) - who says, in the morning and evening: 'Radaytu billahi Rabban wa bil-Islami dinan wa bi Muhammadin nabiyyan (I am content with Allah as my Lord, Islam as my religion and Muhammad as my Prophet),' but he will have a promise from Allah to make him pleased on the Day of Resurrection."
Hadith 4303
حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا مَرْوَانُ بْنُ مُحَمَّدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُهَاجِرٍ , حَدَّثَنِي الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ سَالِمٍ الدِّمَشْقِيُّ , نُبِّئْتُ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَّامٍ الْحَبَشِيِّ , قَالَ : بَعَثَ إِلَيَّ عُمَرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَزِيزِ فَأَتَيْتُهُ عَلَى بَرِيدٍ , فَلَمَّا قَدِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ , قَالَ : لَقَدْ شَقَقْنَا عَلَيْكَ يَا أَبَا سَلَّامٍ فِي مَرْكَبِكَ , قَالَ : أَجَلْ وَاللَّهِ يَا أَمِيرَ الْمُؤْمِنِينَ , قَالَ : وَاللَّهِ مَا أَرَدْتُ الْمَشَقَّةَ عَلَيْكَ , وَلَكِنْ حَدِيثٌ بَلَغَنِي أَنَّكَ تُحَدِّثُ بِهِ عَنْ ثَوْبَانَ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي الْحَوْضِ , فَأَحْبَبْتُ أَنْ تُشَافِهَنِي بِهِ , قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ : حَدَّثَنِي ثَوْبَانُ مَوْلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " إِنَّ حَوْضِي مَا بَيْنَ عَدَنَ إِلَى أَيْلَةَ , أَشَدُّ بَيَاضًا مِنَ اللَّبَنِ , وَأَحْلَى مِنَ الْعَسَلِ , أَوانيِهُ كَعَدَدِ نُجُومِ السَّمَاءِ , مَنْ شَرِبَ مِنْهُ شَرْبَةً لَمْ يَظْمَأْ بَعْدَهَا أَبَدًا , وَأَوَّلُ مَنْ يَرِدُهُ عَلَيَّ فُقَرَاءُ الْمُهَاجِرِينَ , الدُّنْسُ ثِيَابًا وَالشُّعْثُ رُءُوسًا , الَّذِينَ لَا يَنْكِحُونَ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ , وَلَا يُفْتَحُ لَهُمُ السُّدَدُ " , قَالَ : فَبَكَى عُمَرُ حَتَّى اخْضَلَّتْ لِحْيَتُهُ , ثُمَّ قَالَ : لَكِنِّي قَدْ نَكَحْتُ الْمُنَعَّمَاتِ , وَفُتِحَتْ لِي السُّدَدُ , لَا جَرَمَ أَنِّي لَا أَغْسِلُ ثَوْبِي الَّذِي عَلَى جَسَدِي حَتَّى يَتَّسِخَ , وَلَا أَدْهُنُ رَأْسِي حَتَّى يَشْعَثَ .
´It was narrated that Abu Sallam Al-Habashi said:` “Umar bin ‘Abdul-‘Aziz sent for me and I came to him upon the riding animal prepared for swift mail delivery. When I came to him, he said: ‘We have caused you some trouble O Abu Sallam.’ He said: ‘Yes, by Allah, O Commander of the Believers!’ He said: ‘By Allah, we did not want to cause you any hardship, but there is a Hadith which I have heard that you narrate from Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), concerning the Cistern, and I wanted to hear it directly from you.’ He said: “I said: ‘Thawban, the freed slave of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), told me that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “My Cistern is (wider than) the distance between Ailah and ‘Aden. It is whiter than milk and sweeter than honey, and its cups are as many as the stars in the sky. Whoever drinks from it will never feel thirst again. The first ones who come to drink from it will be the poor Muhajirin, with dirty clothes and disheveled hair, who do not marry refined women and for whom no doors are opened.” ‘Umar wept until his beard became wet, then he said: ‘But I have married refined women and doors have been opened for me. Certainly I will not wash the clothes that are on my body until they become dirt, and I will not comb my hair until it becomes disheveled.’”
