Hadith 2347
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَمَانٍ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ " أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَافَرَ أَقْرَعَ بَيْنَ نِسَائِهِ " .
´It was narrated from 'Aishah that :` when the Prophet (ﷺ) traveled, he would cast lots among his wives (to decide which one would accompany him).
Hadith 2457
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَأَنْ يَمْنَحَ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ أَرْضَهُ خَيْرٌ لَهُ مِنْ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ عَلَيْهَا كَذَا وَكَذَا " لِشَيْءٍ مَعْلُومٍ . قَالَ ابْنُ عَبَّاسٍ : هُوَ الْحَقْلُ وَهُوَ بِلِسَانِ الْأَنْصَارِ الْمُحَاقَلَةُ .
´It was narrated from Ibn 'Abbas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “If one of you were to lend his brother his land, it would be better for him than taking such and such rent for it.”
Hadith 2499
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّمَا جَعَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ الشُّفْعَةَ فِي كُلِّ مَا لَمْ يُقْسَمْ ، فَإِذَا وَقَعَتِ الْحُدُودُ ، وَصُرِّفَتِ الطُّرُقُ فَلَا شُفْعَةَ " .
´It was narrated from Jabir bin Abdullah that:` the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) ruled that preemption takes effect in all cases where land has not been divided. But if the boundaries have been set and the roads laid out, then there is no preemption.”
Hadith 2638
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَعَثَ أَبَا جَهْمِ بْنَ حُذَيْفَةَ مُصَدِّقًا فَلَاجَّهُ رَجُلٌ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ فَضَرَبَهُ أَبُو جَهْمٍ فَشَجَّهُ ، فَأَتَوْا النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالُوا : الْقَوَدَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَكُمْ كَذَا وَكَذَا " فَلَمْ يَرْضَوْا ، فَقَالَ : " لَكُمْ كَذَا وَكَذَا " فَرَضُوا ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنِّي خَاطِبٌ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَمُخْبِرُهُمْ بِرِضَاكُمْ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، فَخَطَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقَالَ :" إِنَّ هَؤُلَاءِ اللَّيْثِيِّينَ أَتَوْنِي يُرِيدُونَ الْقَوَدَ ، فَعَرَضْتُ عَلَيْهِمْ كَذَا وَكَذَا أَرَضِيتُمْ " ، قَالُوا : لَا ، فَهَمَّ بِهِمْ الْمُهَاجِرُونَ فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يَكُفُّوا فَكَفُّوا ثُمَّ دَعَاهُمْ فَزَادَهُمْ ، فَقَالَ : " أَرَضِيتُمْ ؟ " قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، قَالَ : " إِنِّي خَاطِبٌ عَلَى النَّاسِ وَمُخْبِرُهُمْ بِرِضَاكُمْ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ ، فَخَطَبَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَرَضِيتُمْ " ، قَالُوا : نَعَمْ . قَالَ ابْن مَاجَةَ : سَمِعْت مُحَمَّدَ بْنَ يَحْيَى يَقُولُ : تَفَرَّدَ بِهَذَا مَعْمَرٌ لَا أَعْلَمُ رَوَاهُ غَيْرُهُ .
´It was narrated from 'Aishah that :` the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Abu Jahm bin Hudhaifah to collect Sadaqah. A man disputed with him concerning his Sadaqah, and Abu Jahm struck him and wounded his head. They came to Prophet (ﷺ) and said: “Compensatory money, O Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)!” The Prophet (ﷺ) said: “You will have such and such,” but they did not accept that. He said: “You will have such and such,” and they agreed. Then the Prophet (ﷺ) said: “I am going to address the people and tell them that you agreed.” They said: “Yes.” So the Prophet (ﷺ) addressed (the people) and said: “These people of Laith came to me seeking compensatory money, and I have offered them such and such. Do you agree?” They said: “No.” The Emigrants wanted to attack them, but the Prophet (ﷺ) told them not to, so they refrained. Then he called them and offered them more and said: “Do you agree?” They said: “Yes.” He said: “I am going to address the people and tell them that you agreed.” They said: “Yes.” So the Prophet (ﷺ) addressed (the people) then said: “Do you Agree?” They said: “Yes.”
Hadith 2676
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْأَزْهَرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ هَمَّامٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " النَّارُ جُبَارٌ ، وَالْبِئْرُ جَبَارٌ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “(The injuries caused by) a fire are without liability, and by falling into a well.”
Hadith 2704
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْأَزْهَرِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ بْنُ هَمَّامٍ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَشْعَثَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ شَهْرِ بْنِ حَوْشَبٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الْخَيْرِ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً ، فَإِذَا أَوْصَى حَافَ فِي وَصِيَّتِهِ فَيُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِشَرِّ عَمَلِهِ فَيَدْخُلُ النَّارَ ، وَإِنَّ الرَّجُلَ لَيَعْمَلُ بِعَمَلِ أَهْلِ الشَّرِّ سَبْعِينَ سَنَةً فَيَعْدِلُ فِي وَصِيَّتِهِ فَيُخْتَمُ لَهُ بِخَيْرِ عَمَلِهِ فَيَدْخُلُ الْجَنَّةَ " ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَاقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ تِلْكَ حُدُودُ اللَّهِ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ عَذَابٌ مُهِينٌ سورة البقرة آية 187 ـ 90 .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “A man may do the deeds of the people of goodness for seventy years, then when he makes his will, he is unjust in his will, so he ends (his life) with evil deeds and enters Hell. And a man may do the people of evil for seventy years, then he is just in his will, so he ends (his life) with good deeds and enters Paradise.”Abu Hurairah said: “Recite, if you wish: “These are the limits (set by) Allah (STW) up to His saying: 'a disgraceful torment'”
Hadith 2740
حَدَّثَنَا الْعَبَّاسُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْعَظِيمِ الْعَنْبَرِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنِ ابْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اقْسِمُوا الْمَالَ بَيْنَ أَهْلِ الْفَرَائِضِ عَلَى كِتَابِ اللَّهِ فَمَا تَرَكَتِ الْفَرَائِضُ فَلِأَوْلَى رَجُلٍ ذَكَرٍ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Distribute wealth among those who are entitled to shares of inheritance, according to the Book of Allah, then whatever is left over goes to the nearest male relative.’”
Hadith 2942
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَلِيِّ بْنِ الْحُسَيْنِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ عُثْمَانَ ، عَنْ أُسَامَةَ بْنِ زَيْدٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَيْنَ تَنْزِلُ غَدًا ؟ وَذَلِكَ فِي حَجَّتِهِ ، قَالَ : " وَهَلْ تَرَكَ لَنَا عَقِيلٌ مَنْزِلًا ؟ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " نَحْنُ نَازِلُونَ غَدًا بِخَيْفِ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ ، يَعْنِي الْمُحَصَّبَ ، حَيْثُ قَاسَمَتْ قُرَيْشٌ عَلَى الْكُفْرِ " ، وَذَلِكَ أَنَّ بَنِي كِنَانَةَ حَالَفَتْ قُرَيْشًا عَلَى بَنِي هَاشِمٍ ، أَنْ لَا يُنَاكِحُوهُمْ وَلَا يُبَايِعُوهُمْ ، قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : وَالْخَيْفُ الْوَادِي .
´It was narrated that Usamah bin Zaid said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, where will you stay tomorrow?’ That was during his Hajj. He said: ‘Has ‘Aqil left us any house?’ Then he said: ‘Tomorrow we will stay in the valley of Banu Kinanah, Muhassab where the Quraish swore an oath of disbelief.’” That was where the Banu Kinana had sworn an oath with the Quriash against Banu Hashim, that they would not intermarry with them or engage in trade with them. Ma’mar said: “Zuhri said: Khaif means a valley.’”
Hadith 2953
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ ابْنِ خُثَيْمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي الطُّفَيْلِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِأَصْحَابِهِ حِينَ أَرَادُوا دُخُولَ مَكَّةَ فِي عُمْرَتِهِ بَعْدَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ : " إِنَّ قَوْمَكُمْ غَدًا سَيَرَوْنَكُمْ فَلَيَرَوُنَّكُمْ جُلْدًا " ، فَلَمَّا دَخَلُوا الْمَسْجِدَ اسْتَلَمُوا الرُّكْنَ ، وَرَمَلُوا وَالنَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَعَهُمْ ، حَتَّى إِذَا بَلَغُوا الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَ ، مَشَوْا إِلَى الرُّكْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، ثُمَّ رَمَلُوا ، حَتَّى بَلَغُوا الرُّكْنَ الْيَمَانِيَ ، ثُمَّ مَشَوْا إِلَى الرُّكْنِ الْأَسْوَدِ ، فَفَعَلَ ذَلِكَ ثَلَاثَ مَرَّاتٍ ثُمَّ مَشَى الْأَرْبَعَ .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “During his ‘Umrah after Hudaibiyah – when they wanted to enter Makkah – the Prophet (ﷺ) said to his Companions: ‘Your people will see you tomorrow, so let them see you looking strong.’ When they entered the mosque, they touched the corner and started to walk briskly, and the Prophet (ﷺ) was with them. When they reached the Yemenite Corner, they walked normally to the Black Corner (the corner where the Black Stone is), then they walked briskly until they reached the Yemenite Corner, then they walked normally to the Black Corner. They did that three times, then they walked normally for four circuits.”
Hadith 3093
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : " خَرَجْتُ مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ زَمَنَ الْحُدَيْبِيَةِ ، فَأَحْرَمَ أَصْحَابُهُ ، وَلَمْ أُحْرِمْ ، فَرَأَيْتُ حِمَارًا فَحَمَلْتُ عَلَيْهِ وَاصْطَدْتُهُ ، فَذَكَرْتُ شَأْنَهُ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَذَكَرْتُ أَنِّي لَمْ أَكُنْ أَحْرَمْتُ وَأَنِّي إِنَّمَا اصْطَدْتُهُ لَكَ ، فَأَمَرَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَصْحَابَهُ فَأَكَلُوا ، وَلَمْ يَأْكُلْ مِنْهُ حِينَ أَخْبَرْتُهُ أَنِّي اصْطَدْتُهُ لَهُ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Abdullah bin Abu Qatadah that his father said:` “I went out with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) at the time of Hudaibiyah, and his Companions entered Ihram, but I did not. I saw a donkey do I hunted it. I mentioned that to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and told him: ‘I had not entered Ihram, and I was hunting it for you.’ The Prophet (ﷺ) told his Companions to eat it, but he did not eat from it, because I told him that I had hunted it for him.”
Hadith 3196
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ أَيُّوبَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ سِيرِينَ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ مُنَادِيَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، نَادَى : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ يَنْهَيَانِكُمْ عَنْ لُحُومِ الْحُمُرِ الْأَهْلِيَّةِ ، فَإِنَّهَا رِجْسٌ " .
´It was narrated from Anas bin Malik that the caller of the Prophet (ﷺ) cried out:` “Allah and His Messenger forbid you to eat the flesh of domesticated donkeys, for it is filthy.”
Hadith 3197
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرُو بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا الثَّوْرِيُّ ، وَمَعْمَرٌ جميعا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ الْجَزَرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : " كُنَّا نَأْكُلُ لُحُومَ الْخَيْلِ ، قُلْتُ : فَالْبِغَالُ ؟ ، قَالَ : لَا " .
´It was narrated that ‘Ata’ narrated that Jabir bin ‘Abdullah said:` “We used to eat the meat of horses.” I said: “And mules?” He said: “No.”
Hadith 3213
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ عَاصِمٍ ، عَنْ الشَّعْبِيِّ ، عَنْ عَدِيِّ بْنِ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، أَرْمِي الصَّيْدَ فَيَغِيبُ عَنِّي لَيْلَةً ، قَالَ : " إِذَا وَجَدْتَ فِيهِ سَهْمَكَ وَلَمْ تَجِدْ فِيهِ شَيْئًا ، غَيْرَهُ فَكُلْهُ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Adi bin Hatim said:` “I said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, what if I shoot the game but it vanishes at night?’ He said: ‘If you find your arrow in it and you do not find anything else, then eat it.’”
Hadith 3224
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، قَالَ : " نَهَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ قَتْلِ أَرْبَعٍ مِنَ الدَّوَابِّ : النَّمْلَةِ ، وَالنَّحْلِ ، وَالْهُدْهُدِ ، وَالصُّرَدِ " .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Abbas said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) forbade killing four kinds of animals: Ants, bees, hoopoes and shrikes.”
Hadith 3319
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ , عَنْ أَبِيهِ , عَنْ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " ائْتَدِمُوا بِالزَّيْتِ وَادَّهِنُوا بِهِ , فَإِنَّهُ مِنْ شَجَرَةٍ مُبَارَكَةٍ " .
´It was narrated from ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` ‘Season (your food) with olive oil and anoint yourselves with it, for it comes from a blessed tree.”
Hadith 3509
حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامُ بْنُ عَمَّارٍ , حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ أَبِي أُمَامَةَ بْنِ سَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ , قَالَ : مَرَّ عَامِرُ بْنُ رَبِيعَةَ , بِسَهْلِ بْنِ حُنَيْفٍ وَهُوَ يَغْتَسِلُ , فَقَالَ : لَمْ أَرَ كَالْيَوْمِ وَلَا جِلْدَ مُخَبَّأَةٍ , فَمَا لَبِثَ أَنْ لُبِطَ بِهِ , فَأُتِيَ بِهِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقِيلَ لَهُ : أَدْرِكْ سَهْلًا صَرِيعًا , قَالَ : " مَنْ تَتَّهِمُونَ بِهِ ؟ " , قَالُوا : عَامِرَ بْنَ رَبِيعَةَ , قَالَ : " عَلَامَ يَقْتُلُ أَحَدُكُمْ أَخَاهُ ، إِذَا رَأَى أَحَدُكُمْ مِنْ أَخِيهِ مَا يُعْجِبُهُ , فَلْيَدْعُ لَهُ بِالْبَرَكَةِ " , ثُمَّ دَعَا بِمَاءٍ , فَأَمَرَ عَامِرًا أَنْ يَتَوَضَّأَ , فَيَغْسِلْ وَجْهَهُ وَيَدَيْهِ إِلَى الْمِرْفَقَيْنِ , وَرُكْبَتَيْهِ وَدَاخِلَةَ إِزَارِهِ , وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَصُبَّ عَلَيْهِ , قَالَ سُفْيَانُ : قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ : عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ : وَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَكْفَأَ الْإِنَاءَ مِنْ خَلْفِهِ .
´It was narrated that Abu Umamah bin Sahl bin Hunaif said:` “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah passed by Sahl bin Hunaif when he was having a bath, and said: ‘I have never seen such beautiful skin.’ Straightaway, he (Sahl) fell to the ground. He was brought to the Prophet (ﷺ) and it was said: ‘Sahl has had a fit.’ He said: ‘Whom do you accuse with regard to him?’ They said: “ ‘Amir bin Rabi’ah.’ They said: ‘Why would anyone of you kill his brother? If he sees something that he likes, then let him pray for blessing for him.’ Then he called for water, and he told ‘Amir to perform ablution, then he washed his face and his arms up to the elbows, his knees and inside his lower garment, then he told him to pour the water over him.”
Hadith 3558
حَدَّثَنَا الْحُسَيْنُ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ سَالِمٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَأَى عَلَى عُمَرَ قَمِيصًا أَبْيَضَ , فَقَالَ : " ثَوْبُكَ هَذَا غَسِيلٌ أَمْ جَدِيدٌ " , قَالَ : لَا بَلْ غَسِيلٌ , قَالَ : " الْبَسْ جَدِيدًا , وَعِشْ حَمِيدًا , وَمُتْ شَهِيدًا " .
´It was narrated from Ibn `Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) saw `Umar wearing a white shirt and he said:` “Is this garment of yours washed or a new one?” He said: “Rather it has been washed.” He said: “Ilbas jadida, wa `ish hamida, wa mut shahida (May you wear new clothes, live a good life and die as martyr).”
Hadith 3598
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ , حَدَّثَنَا عِيسَى بْنُ يُونُسَ , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ أَنَسٍ , قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ عَلَى زَيْنَبَ بِنْتِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ قَمِيصَ حَرِيرٍ سِيَرَاءَ " .
´It was narrated that Anas said:` “I saw Zainab the daughter of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) wearing a shirt of Siyara’ silk.*
Hadith 3783
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ الْأَزْهَرِ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ أَيُّوبَ , عَنْ نَافِعٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : قَال رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلُ الْقُرْآنِ مَثَلُ الْإِبِلِ الْمُعَقَّلَةِ , إِنْ تَعَاهَدَهَا صَاحِبُهَا بِعُقُلِهَا أَمْسَكَهَا عَلَيْهِ , وَإِنْ أَطْلَقَ عُقُلَهَا ذَهَبَتْ " .
´It was narrated from Ibn Umar that the Messenger of Allah(ﷺ) said:` "The likeness of the Quran is that of a hobbled camel. If its owner ties its rope, he will keep it, but if he loosens its rope it will go away."
Hadith 3894
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ سَعِيدٍ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " رُؤْيَا الْمُؤْمِنِ جُزْءٌ مِنْ سِتَّةٍ وَأَرْبَعِينَ جُزْءًا مِنَ النُّبُوَّةِ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Prophet (ﷺ) said:` “The dream of a believer is one of the forty-six parts of prophecy.”
Hadith 3919
حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ الْمُنْذِرِ الْحِزَامِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ الصَّنْعَانِيُّ , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ سَالِمٍ , عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ , قَالَ : كُنْتُ غُلَامًا شَابًّا عَزَبًا , فِي عَهْدِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَكُنْتُ أَبِيتُ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ , فَكَانَ مَنْ رَأَى مِنَّا رُؤْيَا يَقُصُّهَا عَلَى النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقُلْتُ : اللَّهُمَّ إِنْ كَانَ لِي عِنْدَكَ خَيْرٌ فَأَرِنِي رُؤْيَا يُعَبِّرُهَا لِي النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَنِمْتُ فَرَأَيْتُ مَلَكَيْنِ أَتَيَانِي فَانْطَلَقَا بِي , فَلَقِيَهُمَا مَلَكٌ آخَرُ , فَقَالَ : لَمْ تُرَعْ , فَانْطَلَقَا بِي إِلَى النَّارِ , فَإِذَا هِيَ مَطْوِيَّةٌ كَطَيِّ الْبِئْرِ , وَإِذَا فِيهَا نَاسٌ قَدْ عَرَفْتُ بَعْضَهُمْ , فَأَخَذُوا بِي ذَاتَ الْيَمِينِ , فَلَمَّا أَصْبَحْتُ ذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِحَفْصَةَ , فَزَعَمَتْ حَفْصَةُ أَنَّهَا قَصَّتْهَا عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَقَالَ : " إِنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ رَجُلٌ صَالِحٌ , لَوْ كَانَ يُكْثِرُ الصَّلَاةَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ " , قَالَ : فَكَانَ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ يُكْثِرُ الصَّلَاةَ مِنَ اللَّيْلِ .
´It was narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “I was a young unmarried man at the time of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), and I used to stay overnight in the mosque. If any of us had seen a dream, he would tell it to the Prophet (ﷺ). I said: ‘O Allah, if there is any good in me before You, show me a dream that the Prophet (ﷺ) can interpret for me.’ So I went to sleep and I saw two angels who came to me and took me away. They were met by another angel who said: ‘Do not be alarmed,’ and they took me to Hell which was built like a well. In it were people, some of whom I recognized. Then they took me off to the right. In the morning I mentioned that to Hafsah, and Hafsah said that she told the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) about it, and he said: ‘Abdullah is a righteous man, if only he would pray more at night.’”
Hadith 3973
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ الْعَدَنِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ عَاصِمِ بْنِ أَبِي النُّجُودِ , عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ , عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ , قَالَ : كُنْتُ مَعَ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي سَفَرٍ , فَأَصْبَحْتُ يَوْمًا قَرِيبًا مِنْهُ , وَنَحْنُ نَسِيرُ , فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , أَخْبِرْنِي بِعَمَلٍ يُدْخِلُنِي الْجَنَّةَ وَيُبَاعِدُنِي مِنَ النَّارِ , قَالَ : " لَقَدْ سَأَلْتَ عَظِيمًا , وَإِنَّهُ لَيَسِيرٌ عَلَى مَنْ يَسَّرَهُ اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ , تَعْبُدُ اللَّهَ لَا تُشْرِكُ بِهِ شَيْئًا , وَتُقِيمُ الصَّلَاةَ , وَتُؤْتِي الزَّكَاةَ , وَتَصُومُ رَمَضَانَ , وَتَحُجَّ الْبَيْتَ , ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَلَا أَدُلُّكَ عَلَى أَبْوَابِ الْخَيْرِ ؟ الصَّوْمُ جُنَّةٌ , وَالصَّدَقَةُ تُطْفِئُ الْخَطِيئَةَ كَمَا يُطْفِئُ النَّارَ الْمَاءُ , وَصَلَاةُ الرَّجُلِ مِنْ جَوْفِ اللَّيْلِ , ثُمَّ قَرَأَ : تَتَجَافَى جُنُوبُهُمْ عَنِ الْمَضَاجِعِ سورة السجدة آية 16 حَتَّى بَلَغَ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَ سورة السجدة آية 17 " , ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِرَأْسِ الْأَمْرِ وَعَمُودِهِ وَذُرْوَةِ سَنَامِهِ ؟ الْجِهَادُ " , ثُمَّ قَالَ : " أَلَا أُخْبِرُكَ بِمِلَاكِ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ ؟ " , قُلْتُ : بَلَى , فَأَخَذَ بِلِسَانِهِ , فَقَالَ : " تَكُفُّ عَلَيْكَ هَذَا " , قُلْتُ : يَا نَبِيَّ اللَّهِ , وَإِنَّا لَمُؤَاخَذُونَ بِمَا نَتَكَلَّمُ بِهِ , قَالَ : " ثَكِلَتْكَ أُمُّكَ يَا مُعَاذُ , وَهَلْ يُكِبُّ النَّاسَ عَلَى وُجُوهِهِمْ فِي النَّارِ إِلَّا حَصَائِدُ أَلْسِنَتِهِمْ " .
´It was narrated that Mu’adh bin Jabal said:` “I was with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) on a journey. One morning I drew close to him when we were on the move and said: ‘O Messenger of Allah, tell me of an action that will gain me admittance to Paradise and keep me far away from Hell.’ He said: ‘You have asked for something great, but it is easy for the one for whom Allah makes it easy. Worship Allah and do not associate anything in worship with Him, establish prayer, pay charity, fast Ramadan, and perform Hajj to the House.’ Then he said: ‘Shall I not tell you of the means of goodness? Fasting is a shield, and charity extinguishes sin as water extinguishes fire, and a man’s prayer in the middle of the night.’ Then he recited: “Their sides forsake their beds” until he reached: “As a reward for what they used to do.”[32:16-17] Then he said: ‘Shall I not tell you of the head of the matter, and its pillar and pinnacle? (It is) Jihad.’ Then he said: ‘Shall I not tell you of the basis of all that?’ I said: ‘Yes.’ He took hold of his tongue then said: ‘Restrain this.’ I said: ‘O Prophet of Allah, will we be brought to account for what we say?’ He said: ‘May your mother not found you, O Mu’adh! Are people thrown onto their faces in Hell for anything other than the harvest of their tongues?’”
Hadith 4052
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرٍ بْنُ أبِى شَيْبَةَ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى , عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ , عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ , عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيَّبِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ يَرْفَعُهُ , قَالَ : " يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ , وَيَنْقُصُ الْعِلْمُ , وَيُلْقَى الشُّحُّ , وَتَظْهَرُ الْفِتَنُ , وَيَكْثُرُ الْهَرْجُ " , قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , وَمَا الْهَرْجُ ؟ قَالَ : " الْقَتْلُ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah in a Marfu’ report (meaning, attributed to the Prophet (ﷺ)):` “Time will pass quickly, knowledge will decrease, miserliness will be cast into people’s hearts, tribulations will appear and there will be much Harj.” They said: “O Messenger of Allah, what is Harj?” He said: “Killing.”
Hadith 4185
حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْخَلَّالُ , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ ثَابِتٍ , عَنْ أَنَسٍ , أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " مَا كَانَ الْفُحْشُ فِي شَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا شَانَهُ , وَلَا كَانَ الْحَيَاءُ فِي شَيْءٍ قَطُّ إِلَّا زَانَهُ " .
´It was narrated from Anas that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “There is never any obscenity in a thing, but it mars it, and there is never any modesty in a thing, but it adorns it.”
Hadith 4223
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى , حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ , عَنْ أَبِي وَائِلٍ , عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ لِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : كَيْفَ لِي أَنْ أَعْلَمَ إِذَا أَحْسَنْتُ وَإِذَا أَسَأْتُ ؟ قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا سَمِعْتَ جِيرَانَكَ يَقُولُونَ : أَنْ قَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ فَقَدْ أَحْسَنْتَ , وَإِذَا سَمِعْتَهُمْ يَقُولُونَ قَدْ أَسَأْتَ فَقَدْ أَسَأْتَ " .
´It was narrated that ‘Abdullah said:` “A man said to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ): ‘How can I know when I have done well and when I have done something bad?’ The Prophet (ﷺ) said: ‘If you hear your neighbors saying that you have done well, then you have done well, and if you hear them saying that you have done something bad, then you have done something bad.’”
Hadith 4250
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ الدَّارِمِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ الرَّقَاشِيُّ , حَدَّثَنَا وُهَيْبُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ , حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , عَنْ عَبْدِ الْكَرِيمِ , عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ عَنْ أَبِيهِ , قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " التَّائِبُ مِنَ الذَّنْبِ كَمَنْ لَا ذَنْبَ لَهُ " .
´It was narrated from Abu ‘Ubadah bin ‘Abdullah, that his father said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘The one who repents from sin is like one who did not sin.’”
Hadith 4255
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ يَحْيَى , وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ , قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ , أَنْبَأَنَا مَعْمَرٌ , قَالَ : قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثَيْنِ عَجِيبَيْنِ ؟ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ , عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ , عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , قَالَ : " أَسْرَفَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ , فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ أَوْصَى بَنِيهِ , فَقَالَ : إِذَا أَنَا مِتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي , ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي , ثُمَّ ذَرُّونِي فِي الرِّيحِ فِي الْبَحْرِ , فَوَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَدَرَ عَلَيَّ رَبِّي لَيُعَذِّبُنِي عَذَابًا مَا عَذَّبَهُ أَحَدًا , قَالَ : فَفَعَلُوا بِهِ ذَلِكَ , فَقَالَ لِلْأَرْضِ : أَدِّي مَا أَخَذْتِ فَإِذَا هُوَ قَائِمٌ , فَقَالَ لَهُ : مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ , قَالَ : خَشْيَتُكَ أَوْ مَخَافَتُكَ يَا رَبِّ , فَغَفَرَ لَهُ لِذَلِكَ " .
´It was narrated from Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:` “A man went to extremes in committing sins. When death came to him, he left instructions to his sons, saying: ‘When I die, burn me, then grind me into powder, then scatter me in the wind and in the sea, for by Allah, if my Lord has power over me, He will subject me to a punishment that He has never subjected anyone to.’ So they did that to him, then (Allah) said to the earth: ‘Return what you have taken,’ and there he was, standing. He said to him: ‘What made you do what you have done?’ He said: ‘Fear of You, O Lord.’ So He forgave him because of that (fear).”
