Hadith 941
أَخْبَرَنِي عَمْرُو بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ قال : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو جَعْفَرِ بْنُ نُفَيْلٍ قال : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَعْقِلِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ عِكْرِمَةَ بْنِ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ جُبَيْرٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ أُبَيِّ بْنِ كَعْبٍ قال : أَقْرَأَنِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُورَةً فَبَيْنَا أَنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ جَالِسٌ إِذْ سَمِعْتُ رَجُلًا يَقْرَؤُهَا يُخَالِفُ قِرَاءَتِي فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : مَنْ عَلَّمَكَ هَذِهِ السُّورَةَ فَقَالَ : رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَقُلْتُ لَا تُفَارِقْنِي حَتَّى نَأْتِيَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَقُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ إِنَّ هَذَا خَالَفَ قِرَاءَتِي فِي السُّورَةِ الَّتِي عَلَّمْتَنِي ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " اقْرَأْ يَا أُبَيُّ " فَقَرَأْتُهَا فَقَالَ لِي رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَحْسَنْتَ " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ لِلرَّجُلِ : " اقْرَأْ فَقَرَأَ فَخَالَفَ قِرَاءَتِي " فَقَالَ لَهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَحْسَنْتَ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَا أُبَيُّ : " إِنَّهُ أُنْزِلَ الْقُرْآنُ عَلَى سَبْعَةِ أَحْرُفٍ كُلُّهُنَّ شَافٍ كَافٍ " قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد الرَّحْمَنِ : مَعْقِلُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ لَيْسَ بِذَلِكَ الْقَوِيِّ " .
´It was narrated that Ubayy bin Ka'b said:` "The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) taught me a surah, and when I was sitting in the masjid I heard a man reciting it in a way that was different from mine. I said to him: 'Who taught you this surah?' He said: 'The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' I said: 'Stay with me until we go to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ).' So we came to him and I said: 'O Messenger of Allah, this man recites a surah that you taught me differently.' The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'Recite, O Ubayy.' So I recited it, and the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to me: 'You have done well.' Then he said to the man: 'Recite.' So he recited it and it was different to my recitation. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said to him: 'You have done well.' Then the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: 'O Ubayy, the Quran has been revealed with seven different modes of reciation, all of which are good and sound."
Hadith 1797
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ ، قَالَ : أُخْبِرْتُ ، أَنَّ أُمَّ حَبِيبَةَ بِنْتَ أَبِي سُفْيَانَ ، قَالَتْ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَقُولُ : " مَنْ رَكَعَ ثِنْتَيْ عَشْرَةَ رَكْعَةً فِي يَوْمِهِ وَلَيْلَتِهِ سِوَى الْمَكْتُوبَةِ بَنَى اللَّهُ لَهُ بِهَا بَيْتًا فِي الْجَنَّةِ " .
´It was narrated that 'Ata said:` "I was told that Umm Habibah bin Abi Sufyan said: "I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: 'Whoever prays twelve rak'ahs during the day and night, apart from the prescribed prayers, Allah (SWT) will build for him a house in Paradise.'"
Hadith 3455
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبًا يُحَدِّثُ , قَالَ : أَرْسَلَ إِلَيَّ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَإِلَى صَاحِبَيَّ ، إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَأْمُرُكُمْ أَنْ تَعْتَزِلُوا نِسَاءَكُمْ ، فَقُلْتُ لِلرَّسُولِ : أُطَلِّقُ امْرَأَتِي ، أَمْ مَاذَا أَفْعَلُ ؟ قَالَ : لَا ، بَلْ تَعْتَزِلُهَا ، وَلَا تَقْرَبْهَا ، فَقُلْتُ لِامْرَأَتِي : الْحَقِي بِأَهْلِكِ ، فَكُونِي فِيهِمْ ، حَتَّى يَقْضِيَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَلَحِقَتْ بِهِمْ " ، خَالَفَهُ مَعْمَرٌ .
´It was narrated from Ma'qil, from Az-Zuhri who said:` "Abdur-Rahman bin 'Abdullah bin Ka'b narrated that his paternal uncle 'Ubaidullah bin Ka'b said: 'I heard my father Ka'b say: The Messenger of Allah sent word to me and my two companions saying: The Messenger of Allah commands you to keep away from your wives. I said to the envoy: Should I divorce my wife, or what should I do? He said: No, just keep away from her and do not come near her. I said to my wife: Go to your family and stay with them until Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, decides (concerning me). So she went to them.'"
Hadith 3754
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي أَبِي , أَنَّهُ عَرَضَ عَلَيَّ مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنْ حُجْرٍ الْمَدَرِيِّ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ ثَابِتٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَنْ أَعْمَرَ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ لِمُعْمَرِهِ مَحْيَاهُ وَمَمَاتَهُ ، وَلَا تُرْقِبُوا فَمَنْ أَرْقَبَ شَيْئًا فَهُوَ لِسَبِيلِهِ " .
´It was narrated that Zaid bin Thabit said:` The Messenger of Allah said: "Whoever gives a life-long gift, it belongs to the one to whom he gave it, both during his life and after his death. And do not give things on the basis of Ruqba, for whoever is given something on the basis of Ruqba, it becomes part of his estate."
Hadith 3857
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ , قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ , عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ , قَالَ : أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ , عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ , قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ , قَالَ : قُلْتُ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ , إِنَّ اللَّهَ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ إِنَّمَا نَجَّانِي بِالصِّدْقِ , وَإِنَّ مِنْ تَوْبَتِي أَنْ أَنْخَلِعَ مِنْ مَالِي صَدَقَةً إِلَى اللَّهِ وَإِلَى رَسُولِهِ . فَقَالَ : " أَمْسِكْ عَلَيْكَ بَعْضَ مَالِكَ , فَهُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكَ " . قُلْتُ : فَإِنِّي أُمْسِكُ سَهْمِي الَّذِي بِخَيْبَرَ .
´It was narrated from 'Ubaydullah bin Ka'b:` "I heard my father Ka'b bin Malik narrate: 'I said: O Messenger of Allah, Allah, the Mighty and Sublime, has saved me by my being truthful, and as part of my repentance I want to give my wealth in charity to Allah and His Messenger. He said: Keep some of your wealth for yourself; that is better for you. I said: I will keep my share that is in Khaibar.'"
Hadith 4895
أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مَعْدَانَ بْنِ عِيسَى ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ : أَنّ امْرَأَةً مِنْ بَنِي مَخْزُومٍ سَرَقَتْ , فَأُتِيَ بِهَا النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ , فَعَاذَتْ بِأُمِّ سَلَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَوْ كَانَتْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتَ مُحَمَّدٍ لَقَطَعْتُ يَدَهَا " ، فَقُطِعَتْ يَدُهَا .
´It was narrated from Jabir that:` a woman from Banu Makhzum stole (something), and she was brought to the Prophet. She sought the protection of Umm Salamah, but the Prophet said: "If Fatimah bint Muhammad were to steal, I would cut off her hand." And he ordered that her hand be cut off.
