Hadith 136
حَدَّثَنَا حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَامِرِ بْنِ زُرَارَةَ الْحَضْرَمِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " قَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : إِنَّ أُمَّتَكَ لَا يَزَالُونَ يَقُولُونَ : مَا كَذَا ، مَا كَذَا ، حَتَّى يَقُولُوا : هَذَا اللَّهُ خَلَقَ الْخَلْقَ ، فَمَنْ خَلَقَ اللَّهَ ؟ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) transmitted it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that the Great and Glorious Allah said: Verily your people would constantly question about this and that till they would say: Well, it is Allah Who created the creation, but who created Allah?
Hadith 136
حَدَّثَنَاه إِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا جَرِيرٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ إِسْحَاق لَمْ يَذْكُرْ ، قَالَ : قَالَ اللَّهُ : إِنَّ أُمَّتَك .
Anas bin Malik (RA) transmitted it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that the Great and Glorious Allah said: Verily your people would constantly question about this and that till they would say: Well, it is Allah Who created the creation, but who created Allah?
Hadith 196
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، وإِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، قَالَ قُتَيْبَةُ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا أَوَّلُ النَّاسِ يَشْفَعُ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، وَأَنَا أَكْثَرُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ تَبَعًا " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: I would be the first among people to intercede in the Paradise and amongst the apostles I would have the largest following (on the Day of Resurrection).
Hadith 196
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُعَاوِيَةُ بْنُ هِشَامٍ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ مُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا أَكْثَرُ الأَنْبِيَاءِ تَبَعًا يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَأَنَا أَوَّلُ مَنْ يَقْرَعُ بَابَ الْجَنَّةِ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Amongst the apostles I would have the largest following on the Day of Resurrec tion, and I would be the first to knock at the door of Paradise.
Hadith 196
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُسَيْنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ ، عَنْ زَائِدَةَ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَنَا أَوَّلُ شَفِيعٍ فِي الْجَنَّةِ ، لَمْ يُصَدَّقْ نَبِيٌّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ مَا صُدِّقْتُ ، وَإِنَّ مِنَ الأَنْبِيَاءِ نَبِيًّا ، مَا يُصَدِّقُهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِهِ ، إِلَّا رَجُلٌ وَاحِدٌ " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) said: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) said: I would be the first intercessor in the Paradise and no apostle amongst the apostles has been testified (by such a large number of people) as I have been testified. And verily there woald be an apostle among the apostles who would be testified to by only one man from his people.
Hadith 400
حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُخْتَارُ بْنُ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : " بَيْنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا ، إِذْ أَغْفَى إِغْفَاءَةً ، ثُمَّ رَفَعَ رَأْسَهُ مُتَبَسِّمًا ، فَقُلْنَا : مَا أَضْحَكَكَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيَّ آنِفًا سُورَةٌ ، فَقَرَأَ بِسْمِ اللَّهِ الرَّحْمَنِ الرَّحِيمِ : إِنَّا أَعْطَيْنَاكَ الْكَوْثَرَ { 1 } فَصَلِّ لِرَبِّكَ وَانْحَرْ { 2 } إِنَّ شَانِئَكَ هُوَ الأَبْتَرُ { 3 } سورة الكوثر آية 1-3 " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَتَدْرُونَ مَا الْكَوْثَرُ ؟ فَقُلْنَا : اللَّهُ وَرَسُولُهُ أَعْلَمُ ، قَالَ : فَإِنَّهُ نَهْرٌ ، وَعَدَنِيهِ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ عَلَيْهِ خَيْرٌ كَثِيرٌ ، هُوَ حَوْضٌ تَرِدُ عَلَيْهِ أُمَّتِي يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ ، فَيُخْتَلَجُ الْعَبْدُ مِنْهُمْ ، فَأَقُولُ : رَبِّ إِنَّهُ مِنْ أُمَّتِي ، فَيَقُولُ : مَا تَدْرِي مَا أَحْدَثَتْ بَعْدَكَ ؟ ، زَادَ ابْنُ حُجْرٍ فِي حَدِيثِهِ بَيْنَ أَظْهُرِنَا فِي الْمَسْجِدِ ، وَقَالَ : مَا أَحْدَثَ بَعْدَكَ ؟
Narrated to us by Ali ibn Hujr al-Sa'di, narrated to us by Ali ibn Mushir, informed us by al-Mukhtar ibn Fulful, from Anas ibn Malik. And narrated to us by Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah (and the wording is his), narrated to us by Ali ibn Mushir, from al-Mukhtar, from Anas, who said: "While the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, was one day among us, he dozed off for a short while, then he raised his head smiling. So we said: What made you laugh, O Messenger of Allah? He said: A surah has just been revealed to me. Then he recited: In the name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful: Indeed, We have granted you al-Kawthar { 1 } So pray to your Lord and sacrifice { 2 } Indeed, your enemy is the one cut off { 3 } Surah al-Kawthar, verses 1-3." Then he said: Do you know what al-Kawthar is? We said: Allah and His Messenger know best. He said: It is a river which my Lord, Mighty and Majestic, has promised me. Upon it is much good. It is a basin to which my ummah will come on the Day of Resurrection. Its vessels are as numerous as the stars. Then a servant from among them will be driven away, and I will say: My Lord, he is from my ummah! He will say: You do not know what they innovated after you. Ibn Hujr added in his narration: among us in the mosque, and he said: What they innovated after you?
Hadith 400
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، يَقُولُ : أَغْفَى رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِغْفَاءَةً ، بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ مُسْهِرٍ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : نَهْرٌ وَعَدَنِيهِ رَبِّي عَزَّ وَجَلَّ فِي الْجَنَّةِ عَلَيْهِ حَوْضٌ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ : آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ .
Mukhtar bin Fulful reported that he had heard Anas bin Malik (RA) say that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dozed off, and the rest of the hadith is the same as transmitted by Mushir except for the words that he (the Holy Prophet) said: It (Kauthar) is a canal which my Lord the Exalted and the Glorious has promised me in Paradise. There is a tank over it, but he made no mention of the tumblers like the number of the stars.
Hadith 426
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لِأَبِي بَكْرٍ ، قَالَ ابْنُ حُجْرٍ أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ حَدَّثَنَا ، عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : صَلَّى بِنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ذَاتَ يَوْمٍ ، فَلَمَّا قَضَى الصَّلَاةَ ، أَقْبَلَ عَلَيْنَا بِوَجْهِهِ ، فَقَالَ : " أَيُّهَا النَّاسُ ، إِنِّي إِمَامُكُمْ فَلَا تَسْبِقُونِي بِالرُّكُوعِ ، وَلَا بِالسُّجُودِ ، وَلَا بِالْقِيَامِ ، وَلَا بِالِانْصِرَافِ ، فَإِنِّي أَرَاكُمْ أَمَامِي ، وَمِنْ خَلْفِي " ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : " وَالَّذِي نَفْسُ مُحَمَّدٍ بِيَدِهِ ، لَوْ رَأَيْتُمْ مَا رَأَيْتُ ، لَضَحِكْتُمْ قَلِيلًا ، وَلَبَكَيْتُمْ كَثِيرًا " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا رَأَيْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " رَأَيْتُ الْجَنَّةَ وَالنَّارَ " ،
Anas reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) one day led us in the prayer, and when he completed the Prayer he turned his face towards us and said: O People, I am your Imam, so do not precede me in bowing and prostration and in standing and turning (faces, i. e. In pronouncing salutation), for I see you in front of me and behind me, and then said: By Him in Whose hand is the life of Muhammad, if you could see what I see, you would have laughed little and wept much more. They said: What did you see, Messenger of Allah? (ﷺ) He replied: (I saw) Paradise and Hell.
Hadith 426
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَرِيرٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَإِسْحَاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنِ الْمُخْتَارِ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِهَذَا الْحَدِيثِ ، وَلَيْسَ فِي حَدِيثِ جَرِيرٍ : وَلَا بِالِانْصِرَافِ .
This hadith is narrated by Anas with another chain of transmitters, and in the hadith transmitted by Jarir there is no mention of "turning (faces)".
Hadith 836
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وأَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، جميعا ، عَنْ ابْنِ فُضَيْلٍ ، قَالَ أَبُو بَكْرٍ : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ مُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، قَالَ : سَأَلْتُ أَنَسَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ ، عَنِ التَّطَوُّعِ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ، فَقَالَ : " كَانَ عُمَرُ يَضْرِبُ الْأَيْدِي عَلَى صَلَاةٍ بَعْدَ الْعَصْرِ ، وَكُنَّا نُصَلِّي عَلَى عَهْدِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ رَكْعَتَيْنِ بَعْدَ غُرُوبِ الشَّمْسِ قَبْلَ صَلَاةِ الْمَغْرِبِ " ، فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : " أَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَلَّاهُمَا ؟ " قَالَ : " كَانَ يَرَانَا نُصَلِّيهِمَا فَلَمْ يَأْمُرْنَا وَلَمْ يَنْهَنَا " .
Mukhtar bin Fulful said: I asked Anas bin Malik (RA) about the voluntary prayers after the afternoon prayer, and he replied: 'Umar struck hit hands on prayer observed after the 'Asr prayer and we used to observe two rak'ahs after the sun set before the evening prayer during the time of the Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) . I said to him: Did the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) observe them? He said: He saw us observing them, but he neither commanded us nor forbade us to do so.
Hadith 2304
وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ الْمُخْتَارِ بْنِ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِهَذَا الْمَعْنَى وَزَادَ آنِيَتُهُ عَدَدُ النُّجُومِ .
Anas reported a hadith like this from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and he made this addition: "The vessels would be as numerous as the number of stars.
Hadith 2369
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، وَابْنُ فُضَيْلٍ ، عَنْ الْمُخْتَارِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ السَّعْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ مُسْهِرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا الْمُخْتَارُ بْنُ فُلْفُلٍ ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، قَالَ : " جَاءَ رَجُلٌ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَقَالَ : يَا خَيْرَ الْبَرِيَّةِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ذَاكَ إِبْرَاهِيمُ عَلَيْهِ السَّلَام " .
Anas bin Malik (RA) reported that a person came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and said: O, the best of creation; thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: He is Ibrahim (peace be upon him).
Hadith 2369
وحَدَّثَنَاه أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ إِدْرِيسَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ مُخْتَارَ بْنَ فُلْفُلٍ مَوْلَى عَمْرِو بْنِ حُرَيْثٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Anas through a different chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2369
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ سُفْيَانَ ، عَنْ الْمُخْتَارِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَنَسًا ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
Anas reported a hadith like this from Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) through another chain of transmitters.
