Hadith 2572
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مَالِكُ بْنُ أَنَسٍ ، وَيُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَا مِنْ مُصِيبَةٍ يُصَابُ بِهَا الْمُسْلِمُ إِلَّا كُفِّرَ بِهَا عَنْهُ حَتَّى الشَّوْكَةِ يُشَاكُهَا " .
'A'isha said: No trouble comes to a believer even if it is the pricking of a thorn that it becomes (the means) whereby his sins are effaced or his sins are obliterated. Yazid says: He does not know which word 'Urwa said (whether he said Qussa or Kuffira).
Hadith 2580
حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا لَيْثٌ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " الْمُسْلِمُ أَخُو الْمُسْلِمِ لَا يَظْلِمُهُ ، وَلَا يُسْلِمُهُ مَنْ كَانَ فِي حَاجَةِ أَخِيهِ كَانَ اللَّهُ فِي حَاجَتِهِ ، وَمَنْ فَرَّجَ عَنْ مُسْلِمٍ كُرْبَةً فَرَّجَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ بِهَا كُرْبَةً مِنْ كُرَبِ يَوْمِ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَمَنْ سَتَرَ مُسْلِمًا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Salim reported on the authority of his father that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: A Muslim is the brother of a fellow-Muslim. He should neither commit oppression upon him nor ruin him, and he who meets the need of a brot'ier, Allah would meet big needs, and he who relieved a Muslim from hardship Allah would relieve him from the hardships to which he would be put on the Day of Resurrection, and he who did not expose (the follies of a Muslim) Allah would conceal his follies on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2601
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ سَمِعَ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ فَأَيُّمَا عَبْدٍ مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهُ ، فَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ لَهُ قُرْبَةً إِلَيْكَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that he heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: O Allah, for any believing servant whom I curse make that as a source of nearness to Thee on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2601
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَ زُهَيْرٌ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَخِي ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ ، حَدَّثَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " اللَّهُمَّ إِنِّي اتَّخَذْتُ عِنْدَكَ عَهْدًا لَنْ تُخْلِفَنِيهِ ، فَأَيُّمَا مُؤْمِنٍ سَبَبْتُهُ أَوْ جَلَدْتُهُ ، فَاجْعَلْ ذَلِكَ كَفَّارَةً لَهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: I have held covenant with Thee which Thou wouldst not break, so for any believer whom I curse or beat, make that an expiation on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2605
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ : أَنَّ أُمَّهُ أُمَّ كُلْثُومٍ بِنْتَ عُقْبَةَ بْنِ أَبِي مُعَيْطٍ ، وَكَانَتْ مِنَ الْمُهَاجِرَاتِ الْأُوَلِ اللَّاتِي بَايَعْنَ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَخْبَرَتْهُ أَنَّهَا سَمِعَتْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَهُوَ يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ الْكَذَّابُ الَّذِي يُصْلِحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ وَيَقُولُ خَيْرًا وَيَنْمِي خَيْرًا " ، قَالَ ابْنُ شِهَابٍ : وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْ يُرَخَّصُ فِي شَيْءٍ ، مِمَّا يَقُولُ : النَّاسُ كَذِبٌ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ : الْحَرْبُ ، وَالْإِصْلَاحُ بَيْنَ النَّاسِ ، وَحَدِيثُ الرَّجُلِ امْرَأَتَهُ ، وَحَدِيثُ الْمَرْأَةِ زَوْجَهَا .
Humaid bin 'Abdul Rahman bin 'Auf reported that his mother Umm Kulthum daughter of 'Uqba bin Abu Mu'ait, and she was one amongst the first emigrants who pledged allegiance to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) , as saying that she heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: A liar is not one who tries to bring reconciliation amongst people and speaks good (in order to avert dispute), or he conveys good. Ibn Shihab said he did not hear that exemption was granted in anything what the people speak as lie but in three cases: in battle, for bringing reconciliation amongst persons and the narration of the words of the husband to his wife, and the narration of the words of a wife to her husband (in a twisted form in order to bring reconciliation between them).
Hadith 2605
حَدَّثَنَا عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مُسْلِمِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ شِهَابٍ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ ، وَقَالَتْ : وَلَمْ أَسْمَعْهُ يُرَخِّصُ فِي شَيْءٍ مِمَّا يَقُولُ النَّاسُ إِلَّا فِي ثَلَاثٍ ، بِمِثْلِ مَا جَعَلَهُ يُونُسُ مِنْ قَوْلِ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Ibn Shihab with the same chain of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2609
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، وَعَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ حَمَّادٍ ، قَالَا كِلَاهُمَا : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَيْسَ الشَّدِيدُ بِالصُّرَعَةِ ، إِنَّمَا الشَّدِيدُ الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The strong-man is not one who wrestles well but the strong man is one who controls himself when he is in a fit of rage.
Hadith 2609
حَدَّثَنَا حَاجِبُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " لَيْسَ الشَّدِيدُ بِالصُّرَعَةِ ، قَالُوا : فَالشَّدِيدُ أَيُّمَ هُوَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : الَّذِي يَمْلِكُ نَفْسَهُ عِنْدَ الْغَضَبِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: One is not strong because of one's wrestling skillfully. They said: Allah's Messenger, then who is strong? He said: He who controls his anger when he is in a fit of rage.
Hadith 2609
وحَدَّثَنَاه مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِهْرَامَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) through another chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2613
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ ، أَنَّ هِشَامَ بْنَ حَكِيمٍ وَجَدَ رَجُلًا ، وَهُوَ عَلَى حِمْصَ يُشَمِّسُ نَاسًا مِنَ النَّبْطِ فِي أَدَاءِ الْجِزْيَةِ ، فَقَالَ : مَا هَذَا ؟ إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِنَّ اللَّهَ يُعَذِّبُ الَّذِينَ يُعَذِّبُونَ النَّاسَ فِي الدُّنْيَا " .
'Urwa bin Zubair reported that Hisham bin Hakim found a person (the ruler of Homs) who had been detaining some Nabateans in connection with the dues of Jizya. He said: What is this? I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah would torment those persons who torment people in the world.
Hadith 2632
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَي بْنُ يَحْيَي ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ سَعِيدِ بْنِ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَمُوتُ لِأَحَدٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ثَلَاثَةٌ مِنَ الْوَلَدِ ، فَتَمَسَّهُ النَّارُ إِلَّا تَحِلَّةَ الْقَسَمِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Anyone amongst the Muslims, three of whose children die, and he resigns himself calmly to the will of God, Fire will not touch him but for the fulfilment of the oath.
Hadith 2632
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ بْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ وَابْنُ رَافِعٍ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِإِسْنَادِ مَالِكٍ ، وَبِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِهِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ سُفْيَانَ : فَيَلِجَ النَّارَ إِلَّا تَحِلَّةَ الْقَسَمِ .
This hadith has been reported by Zuhri on the authority of Malik, and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Sufyan (the words are): "He would enter into Fire, except for the fulfilment of the oath."
Hadith 2639
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَعَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، وَزُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ نُمَيْرٍ ، وَابْنُ أَبِي عُمَرَ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِزُهَيْرٍ ، قَالُوا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، " مَتَى السَّاعَةُ ؟ قَالَ : وَمَا أَعْدَدْتَ لَهَا ؟ فَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ كَبِيرًا ، قَالَ : وَلَكِنِّي أُحِبُّ اللَّهَ وَرَسُولَهُ ، قَالَ : فَأَنْتَ مَعَ مَنْ أَحْبَبْتَ " .
Anas reported that a person said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) : When would be the Last Hour? He (the Holy Prophet) said: What preparation have you made for that? And he gave no details, but said: I love Allah and His Messenger. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You would be along with one whom you love. Anas bin Malik (RA) reported through another chain of transmitters that a desert Arab came to Allah's Messenger (may peace be upon, him), the rest of the hadith is the same but with this variation that he said: I have not made much preparations which merit appreciation for myself.
Hadith 2639
حَدَّثَنِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ عَبْدٌ : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ رَافِعٍ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَنَسُ بْنُ مَالِكٍ : أَنَّ رَجُلًا مِنَ الْأَعْرَابِ أَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمِثْلِهِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ قَالَ : مَا أَعْدَدْتُ لَهَا مِنْ كَثِيرٍ أَحْمَدُ عَلَيْهِ نَفْسِي .
Anas reported that a person said to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) : When would be the Last Hour? He (the Holy Prophet) said: What preparation have you made for that? And he gave no details, but said: I love Allah and His Messenger. Thereupon he (the Holy Prophet) said: You would be along with one whom you love.
Hadith 2652
حَدَّثَنِي زُهَيْرُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، وَابْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " احْتَجَّ آدَمُ ، وَمُوسَى ، فَقَالَ لَهُ مُوسَى : أَنْتَ آدَمُ الَّذِي أَخْرَجَتْكَ خَطِيئَتُكَ مِنَ الْجَنَّةِ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ آدَمُ : أَنْتَ مُوسَى الَّذِي اصْطَفَاكَ اللَّهُ بِرِسَالَتِهِ وَبِكَلَامِهِ ، ثُمَّ تَلُومُنِي عَلَى أَمْرٍ قَدْ قُدِّرَ عَلَيَّ قَبْلَ أَنْ أُخْلَقَ ، فَحَجَّ آدَمُ مُوسَى " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: There was an argument between Adam ؑand Moses (ؑ). Moses (ؑ) said: Are you that Adam ؑwhose lapse caused you to get out of Paradise? Adam ؑsaid to him: Are you that Moses (ؑ) whom Allah selected for His Messengership, for His conversation and you blame me for an affair which had been ordained for me before I was created? This is how Adam ؑcame the better of Moses (ؑ).
Hadith 2658
حَدَّثَنَا حَاجِبُ بْنُ الْوَلِيدِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، عَنْ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَعِيدُ بْنُ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّهُ كَانَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ إِلَّا يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، فَأَبَوَاهُ يُهَوِّدَانِهِ ، وَيُنَصِّرَانِهِ ، وَيُمَجِّسَانِهِ ، كَمَا تُنْتَجُ الْبَهِيمَةُ بَهِيمَةً جَمْعَاءَ ، هَلْ تُحِسُّونَ فِيهَا مِنْ جَدْعَاءَ ؟ ثُمَّ يَقُولُ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ : وَاقْرَءُوا إِنْ شِئْتُمْ : فِطْرَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ سورة الروم آية 30 الْآيَةَ " .
There is none born but is created to his true nature (Islam). It is his parents who make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian quite as beasts produce their young with their limbs perfect. Do you see anything deficient in them? Then he quoted the Qur'an., The nature made by Allah in which He has created men there is no altering of Allah's creation; that is the right religion" (xxx. 33)
Hadith 2658
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، وَقَالَ : كَمَا تُنْتَجُ الْبَهِيمَةُ بَهِيمَةً ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ جَمْعَاءَ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters and there is no mention of his deficiency in limbs.
Hadith 2658
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، وَأَحْمَدُ بْنُ عِيسَى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا سَلَمَةَ بْنَ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَا مِنْ مَوْلُودٍ إِلَّا يُولَدُ عَلَى الْفِطْرَةِ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : اقْرَءُوا : فِطْرَةَ اللَّهِ الَّتِي فَطَرَ النَّاسَ عَلَيْهَا لا تَبْدِيلَ لِخَلْقِ اللَّهِ ذَلِكَ الدِّينُ الْقَيِّمُ سورة الروم آية 30 " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: No child is born but upon Fitra. He then said. Recite: "The nature made by Allah in which He created man, there is no altering of Allah's nature; that is the right religion."
Hadith 2659
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الطَّاهِرِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي ابْنُ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ ، وَيُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ سُئِلَ عَنْ أَوْلَادِ الْمُشْرِكِينَ ؟ فَقَالَ : اللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ بِمَا كَانُوا عَامِلِينَ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was asked about the children of the polytheists, whereupon he said: It is Allah Who knows best what they would be doing.
Hadith 2659
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِهْرَامَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِإِسْنَادِ يُونُسَ ، وَابْنِ أَبِي ذِئْبٍ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِهِمَا ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ شُعَيْبٍ ، وَمَعْقِلٍ ، سُئِلَ عَنْ ذَرَارِيِّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Shu'aib and Ma'qil with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 157
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَي ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ وَيُقْبَضُ الْعِلْمُ ، وَتَظْهَرُ الْفِتَنُ ، وَيُلْقَى الشُّحُّ ، وَيَكْثُرُ الْهَرْجُ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا الْهَرْجُ ؟ قَالَ : الْقَتْلُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: (When) the time would draw close to the Last Hour, knowledge would be snatched away, turmoil would be rampant, miserliness would be put (in the hearts of the people) and therewould be much bloodshed. They said: What is al-harj? Thereupon he said: It is bloodshed.
Hadith 157
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الدَّارِمِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ الزُّهْرِيُّ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ وَيُقْبَضُ الْعِلْمُ ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ مِثْلَهُ .
This hadith has been transmitted on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 157
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : يَتَقَارَبُ الزَّمَانُ وَيَنْقُصُ الْعِلْمُ ، ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ مِثْلَ حَدِيثِهِمَا .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) having said: The time would draw close to the Last Hour and knowledge would decrease. The rest of the hadith is the same.
Hadith 2735
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ يَحْيَى ، قَالَ : قَرَأْتُ عَلَى مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى ابْنِ أَزْهَرَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " يُسْتَجَابُ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ ، فَيَقُولُ : قَدْ دَعَوْتُ فَلَا أَوْ فَلَمْ يُسْتَجَبْ لِي " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: The supplication of every one of you is granted if he does not grow impatient and says: I supplicated but it was not granted.
Hadith 2735
حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ الْمَلِكِ بْنُ شُعَيْبِ بْنِ لَيْثٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبِي ، عَنْ جَدِّي ، حَدَّثَنِي عُقَيْلُ بْنُ خَالِدٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، وَكَانَ مِنَ الْقُرَّاءِ وَأَهْلِ الْفِقْهِ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يُسْتَجَابُ لِأَحَدِكُمْ مَا لَمْ يَعْجَلْ ، فَيَقُولُ : قَدْ دَعَوْتُ رَبِّي فَلَمْ يَسْتَجِبْ لِي " .

Hadith 2743
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ سَهْلٍ التَّمِيمِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ بِهْرَامَ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَ ابْنُ سَهْلٍ : حَدَّثَنَا وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : أَخْبَرَنَا أَبُو الْيَمَانِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا شُعَيْبٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي سَالِمُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " انْطَلَقَ ثَلَاثَةُ رَهْطٍ مِمَّنْ كَانَ قَبْلَكُمْ حَتَّى آوَاهُمُ الْمَبِيتُ إِلَى غَارٍ ، وَاقْتَصَّ الْحَدِيثَ بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ نَافِعٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ غَيْرَ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : قَالَ رَجُلٌ مِنْهُمْ : اللَّهُمَّ كَانَ لِي أَبَوَانِ شَيْخَانِ كَبِيرَانِ فَكُنْتُ لَا أَغْبِقُ قَبْلَهُمَا أَهْلًا وَلَا مَالًا ، وَقَالَ : فَامْتَنَعَتْ مِنِّي حَتَّى أَلَمَّتْ بِهَا سَنَةٌ مِنَ السِّنِينَ ، فَجَاءَتْنِي فَأَعْطَيْتُهَا عِشْرِينَ وَمِائَةَ دِينَارٍ ، وَقَالَ : فَثَمَّرْتُ أَجْرَهُ حَتَّى كَثُرَتْ مِنْهُ الْأَمْوَالُ ، فَارْتَعَجَتْ ، وَقَالَ : فَخَرَجُوا مِنْ الْغَارِ يَمْشُونَ .
'Abdullah b 'Umar reported: I heard Allah's Alessenger (ﷺ) as saying: Three persons belonging to the earlier Ummahs set out on a journey until they had to spend a night in a cave. The rest of the hadith is the same and the additional words are: "A person amongst them said: O Allah, I had my aged parents and I served them milk before I (served that) to my wife, children and my servants." And in case of the second one, the words are: "She avoided me until she was hard pressed because of famine and she came to me and I gave her one hundred and twenty dinars." And in case of the third one (the words are): "I invested his wages, and it brought profit and, as a result thereof, the merchandise increased and there was abundance of goods." And he (the narrator said) that they got out of the cave and began to walk.
Hadith 2752
حَدَّثَنَا حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى التُّجِيبِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ أَنَّ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ أَخْبَرَهُ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " جَعَلَ اللَّهُ الرَّحْمَةَ مِائَةَ جُزْءٍ ، فَأَمْسَكَ عِنْدَهُ تِسْعَةً وَتِسْعِينَ وَأَنْزَلَ فِي الْأَرْضِ جُزْءًا وَاحِدًا ، فَمِنْ ذَلِكَ الْجُزْءِ تَتَرَاحَمُ الْخَلَائِقُ حَتَّى تَرْفَعَ الدَّابَّةُ حَافِرَهَا عَنْ وَلَدِهَا خَشْيَةَ أَنْ تُصِيبَهُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Allah created mercy in one hundred parts and He retained with Him ninety-nine parts, and He has sent down upon the earth one part, and it is because of this one part that there is mutual love among the creation so much so that the animal lifts up its hoof from its young one, fearing that it might harm it.
Hadith 2756
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، قَالَ عَبد : أَخْبَرَنَا ، وقَالَ ابْنُ رَافِعٍ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، قَالَ : قَالَ لِي الزُّهْرِيُّ : أَلَا أُحَدِّثُكَ بِحَدِيثَيْنِ عَجِيبَيْنِ ؟ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ أَخْبَرَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَسْرَفَ رَجُلٌ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ ، فَلَمَّا حَضَرَهُ الْمَوْتُ أَوْصَى بَنِيهِ ، فَقَالَ : إِذَا أَنَا مُتُّ فَأَحْرِقُونِي ثُمَّ اسْحَقُونِي ثُمَّ اذْرُونِي فِي الرِّيحِ فِي الْبَحْرِ ، فَوَاللَّهِ لَئِنْ قَدَرَ عَلَيَّ رَبِّي لَيُعَذِّبُنِي عَذَابًا مَا عَذَّبَهُ بِهِ أَحَدًا ، قَالَ : فَفَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ بِهِ ، فَقَالَ لِلْأَرْضِ : أَدِّي مَا أَخَذْتِ ، فَإِذَا هُوَ قَائِمٌ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : مَا حَمَلَكَ عَلَى مَا صَنَعْتَ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : خَشْيَتُكَ يَا رَبِّ أَوَ قَالَ مَخَافَتُكَ فَغَفَرَ لَهُ بِذَلِكَ " ,
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying that a person committed sin beyond measure and when he was going to die, he left this will: (When I die), burn my dead body and then cast them (the ashes) to the wind and in the ocean. By Allah, if my Lord takes hold of me, He would torment me as He has not tormented anyone else. They did as he had asked them to do. He (the Lord) said to the earth: Return what you have taken. And he was thus restored to his (original form). He (Allah) said to him: What prompted you to do this? He said: My Lord, it was Thine fear or Thine awe, and Allah pardoned him because of this.
Hadith 2756
حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ دَاوُدَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي الزُّبَيْدِيُّ ، قَالَ الزُّهْرِيُّ : حَدَّثَنِي حُمَيْدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : أَسْرَفَ عَبْدٌ عَلَى نَفْسِهِ ، بِنَحْوِ حَدِيثِ مَعْمَرٍ إِلَى قَوْلِهِ : فَغَفَرَ اللَّهُ لَهُ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ حَدِيثَ الْمَرْأَةِ فِي قِصَّةِ الْهِرَّةِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ الزُّبَيْدِيِّ ، قَالَ : فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ : لِكُلِّ شَيْءٍ أَخَذَ مِنْهُ شَيْئًا أَدِّ مَا أَخَذْتَ مِنْهُ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying that a servant transgressed the limit in committing sins. The rest of the hadith is the same but there is no mention of the story of the cat in it and in the hadith transmitted on the authority of Zubaidi (the words are): "Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, said to everything which had taken a part of his ashes to return what it had taken."
Hadith 2769
وحَدَّثَنِيهِ مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حُجَيْنُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا اللَّيْثُ ، عَنْ عُقَيْلٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ بِإِسْنَادِ يُونُسَ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ،
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2769
وحَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ ابْنُ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ مُسْلِمٍ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، أَنَّ عُبَيْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، وَكَانَ قَائِدَ كَعْبٍ حِينَ عَمِيَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ يُحَدِّثُ حَدِيثَهُ حِينَ تَخَلَّفَ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةِ تَبُوكَ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَزَادَ فِيهِ عَلَى يُونُسَ ، فَكَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَلَّمَا يُرِيدُ غَزْوَةً إِلَّا وَرَّى بِغَيْرِهَا حَتَّى كَانَتْ تِلْكَ الْغَزْوَةُ ، وَلَمْ يَذْكُرْ فِي حَدِيثِ ابْنِ أَخِي الزُّهْرِيِّ أَبَا خَيْثَمَةَ ، وَلُحُوقَهُ بِالنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ،
'Abdullah bin K'ab, who was his (Ka'b's) guide as he became blind, reported that he heard from Ka'b bin Malik the story of his staying behind Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) from the expedition of Tabuk. The rest of the hadith is the same (but with this variation) that in the narration transmitted on the authority of Yunus (the words are): When Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) intended to set on any expedition he kept it as a secret, but he did not do so in this expedition. And in the narration transmitted on the authority of Muhammad bin 'Abdullah bin Muslim, there is no mention of Abu Khaithana (RA) and no mention of his meeting with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) .
Hadith 2769
وحَدَّثَنِي سَلَمَةُ بْنُ شَبِيبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ أَعْيَنَ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْقِلٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، أَخْبَرَنِي عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ كَعْبٍ ، وَكَانَ قَائِدَ كَعْبٍ حِينَ أُصِيبَ بَصَرُهُ ، وَكَانَ أَعْلَمَ قَوْمِهِ وَأَوْعَاهُمْ لِأَحَادِيثِ أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبِي كَعْبَ بْنَ مَالِكٍ وَهُوَ أَحَدُ الثَّلَاثَةِ الَّذِينَ تِيبَ عَلَيْهِمْ يُحَدِّثُ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَتَخَلَّفْ عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فِي غَزْوَةٍ غَزَاهَا قَطُّ ، غَيْرَ غَزْوَتَيْنِ وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ ، وَقَالَ فِيهِ : وَغَزَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِنَاسٍ كَثِيرٍ يَزِيدُونَ عَلَى عَشْرَةِ آلَافٍ وَلَا يَجْمَعُهُمْ دِيوَانُ حَافِظٍ .
It is reported on the authority of 'Abdullah bin K'ab and he was the guide of Ka'b as he lost his eyesight and he was the greatest scholar amongst his people and he retained in his mind many ahadith of the Companions of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) . He said: I heard my father Ka'b bin Malik, and he was one of those three whose repentance was accepted (by Allah). He transmitted that he never lagged behind Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) from any expedition that he undertook except two expeditions; the rest of the hadith is the same, and in the tradition narrated through another chain of transmitters the words are: "That Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) set out on an expedition with a large number of persons more than ten thousand and this could not be recorded in the census register."
Hadith 2770
وحَدَّثَنِي أَبُو الرَّبِيعِ الْعَتَكِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا فُلَيْحُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ يُونُسَ ، وَمَعْمَرٍ بِإِسْنَادِهِمَا ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ فُلَيْحٍ اجْتَهَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ ، كَمَا قَالَ مَعْمَرٌ : وَفِي حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ احْتَمَلَتْهُ الْحَمِيَّةُ كَقَوْلِ يُونُسَ ، وَزَادَ فِي حَدِيثِ صَالِحٍ ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ : كَانَتْ عَائِشَةُ تَكْرَهُ أَنْ يُسَبَّ عِنْدَهَا حَسَّانُ ، وَتَقُولُ : فَإِنَّهُ قَالَ فَإِنَّ أَبِي وَوَالِدَهُ وَعِرْضِي لِعِرْضِ مُحَمَّدٍ مِنْكُمْ وِقَاءُ ، وَزَادَ أَيْضًا ، قَالَ عُرْوَةُ قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَاللَّهِ إِنَّ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ مَا قِيلَ ، لَيَقُولُ سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ ، فَوَالَّذِي نَفْسِي بِيَدِهِ مَا كَشَفْتُ عَنْ كَنَفِ أُنْثَى قَطُّ ، قَالَتْ : ثُمَّ قُتِلَ بَعْدَ ذَلِكَ شَهِيدًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ يَعْقُوبَ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ مُوعِرِينَ فِي نَحْرِ الظَّهِيرَةِ ، وقَالَ عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ مُوغِرِينَ قَالَ عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ قُلْتُ لِعَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ : مَا قَوْلُهُ مُوغِرِينَ ؟ ، قَالَ : الْوَغْرَةُ شِدَّةُ الْحَرِّ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْعَلَاءِ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عَائِشَةَ ، قَالَتْ : لَمَّا ذُكِرَ مِنْ شَأْنِي الَّذِي ذُكِرَ ، وَمَا عَلِمْتُ بِهِ قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ خَطِيبًا ، فَتَشَهَّدَ فَحَمِدَ اللَّهَ وَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ بِمَا هُوَ أَهْلُهُ ، ثُمَّ قَالَ : أَمَّا بَعْدُ : أَشِيرُوا عَلَيَّ فِي أُنَاسٍ أَبَنُوا أَهْلِي ، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَى أَهْلِي مِنْ سُوءٍ قَطُّ ، وَأَبَنُوهُمْ بِمَنْ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهِ مِنْ سُوءٍ قَطُّ وَلَا دَخَلَ بَيْتِي قَطُّ ، إِلَّا وَأَنَا حَاضِرٌ وَلَا غِبْتُ فِي سَفَرٍ إِلَّا غَابَ مَعِي ، وَسَاقَ الْحَدِيثَ بِقِصَّتِهِ وَفِيهِ ، وَلَقَدْ دَخَلَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بَيْتِي ، فَسَأَلَ جَارِيَتِي ، فَقَالَتْ : وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهَا عَيْبًا إِلَّا أَنَّهَا كَانَتْ تَرْقُدُ حَتَّى تَدْخُلَ الشَّاةُ ، فَتَأْكُلَ عَجِينَهَا ، أَوْ قَالَتْ : خَمِيرَهَا ، شَكَّ هِشَامٌ فَانْتَهَرَهَا بَعْضُ أَصْحَابِهِ ، فَقَالَ : اصْدُقِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حَتَّى أَسْقَطُوا لَهَا بِهِ ، فَقَالَتْ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا عَلِمْتُ عَلَيْهَا إِلَّا مَا يَعْلَمُ الصَّائِغُ عَلَى تِبْرِ الذَّهَبِ الْأَحْمَرِ ، وَقَدْ بَلَغَ الْأَمْرُ ذَلِكَ الرَّجُلَ الَّذِي قِيلَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : سُبْحَانَ اللَّهِ وَاللَّهِ مَا كَشَفْتُ عَنْ كَنَفِ أُنْثَى قَطُّ ، قَالَتْ عَائِشَةُ : وَقُتِلَ شَهِيدًا فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ وَفِيهِ أَيْضًا مِنَ الزِّيَادَةِ ، وَكَانَ الَّذِينَ تَكَلَّمُوا بِهِ مِسْطَحٌ وَحَمْنَةُ وَحَسَّانُ ، وَأَمَّا الْمُنَافِقُ عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ أُبَيٍّ ، فَهُوَ الَّذِي كَانَ يَسْتَوْشِيهِ وَيَجْمَعُهُ وَهُوَ الَّذِي تَوَلَّى كِبْرَهُ وَحَمْنَةُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri through other chains of transmitters but with a slight variation of wording. In the hadith transmitters on the authority of 'Urwa, there is an addition of these words: "'A'isha did not like that Hassan should be rebuked in her presence and she used to say: It was he who wrote this verse also: "'Verily, my father and my mother and my honour, those are all meant for defending the honour of Muhammad against you." And 'Urwa further reported that 'A'isha said: By Allah, the person, about whom the allegation was made used to say: Hallowed be Allah, by One, in Whose hand is my life, I have never unveiled any woman, and then he died as a martyr in the cause of Allah, and in the narration transmitted on the authority of Ya'qub bin Ibrahim., the word is Mu'irin and in the narration transmitted on the'authority of 'Abdul Razzaq it is Mughirin. 'Abd bin Humaid said: I said to 'Abdul Razzaq: What does this word Mughirin mean? And he said: Al- waghra means intense heat.
Hadith 2787
حَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، أَنَّ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ ، كَانَ يَقُولُ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " يَقْبِضُ اللَّهُ تَبَارَكَ وَتَعَالَى الْأَرْضَ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ ، وَيَطْوِي السَّمَاءَ بِيَمِينِهِ ، ثُمَّ يَقُولُ : أَنَا الْمَلِكُ أَيْنَ مُلُوكُ الْأَرْضِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: Allah, the Exalted and Glorious, will take in His grip the earth on the Day of Judgment and He would roll up the sky in His right hand and would say: I am the Lord; where are the sovereigns of the world?
Hadith 2809
حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى ، عَنْ مَعْمَرٍ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " مَثَلُ الْمُؤْمِنِ كَمَثَلِ الزَّرْعِ لَا تَزَالُ الرِّيحُ تُمِيلُهُ ، وَلَا يَزَالُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يُصِيبُهُ الْبَلَاءُ ، وَمَثَلُ الْمُنَافِقِ كَمَثَلِ شَجَرَةِ الْأَرْزِ لَا تَهْتَزُّ حَتَّى تَسْتَحْصِدَ " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: The similitude of a believer is that of (a standing) crop which the air continues to toss from one side to another; in the same way a believer always (receives the strokes) of misfortune. The similitude of a hypocrite is that of a cypress tree which does not move until it is uprooted.
Hadith 2809
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ رَافِعٍ وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حميد ، عَنْ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ ، حَدَّثَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ ، غَيْرَ أَنَّ فِي حَدِيثِ عَبْدِ الرَّزَّاقِ مَكَانَ قَوْلِهِ تُمِيلُهُ تُفِيئُهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Zuhri with the same chain of transmitters, but with a slight variation of wording.
Hadith 2816
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ حَاتِمٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو عَبَّادٍ يَحْيَى بْنُ عَبَّادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ شِهَابٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي عُبَيْدٍ مَوْلَى عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ عَوْفٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " لَنْ يُدْخِلَ أَحَدًا مِنْكُمْ عَمَلُهُ الْجَنَّةَ " ، قَالُوا : وَلَا أَنْتَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : " وَلَا أَنَا إِلَّا أَنْ يَتَغَمَّدَنِيَ اللَّهُ مِنْهُ بِفَضْلٍ وَرَحْمَةٍ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: None amongst you can get. into Paradise by virtue of his deeds alone. They said: Allah's Messenger, not even you? Thereupon he said: Not even I, but that Allah should wrap me in His Grace and Mercy.
Hadith 2856
حَدَّثَنِي عَمْرٌو النَّاقِدُ ، وَحَسَنٌ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَعَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، قَالَ عَبد بن حميد : أَخْبَرَنِي ، وقَالَ الْآخَرَانِ : حَدَّثَنَا يَعْقُوبُ وَهُوَ ابْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ بْنِ سَعْدٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ سَعِيدَ بْنَ الْمُسَيِّبِ ، يَقُولُ : إِنَّ الْبَحِيرَةَ الَّتِي يُمْنَعُ دَرُّهَا لِلطَّوَاغِيتِ ، فَلَا يَحْلُبُهَا أَحَدٌ مِنَ النَّاسِ ، وَأَمَّا السَّائِبَةُ الَّتِي كَانُوا يُسَيِّبُونَهَا لِآلِهَتِهِمْ ، فَلَا يُحْمَلُ عَلَيْهَا شَيْءٌ ، وَقَالَ ابْنُ الْمُسَيَّبِ ، قَالَ أَبُو هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " رَأَيْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ عَامِرٍ الْخُزَاعِيَّ يَجُرُّ قُصْبَهُ فِي النَّارِ ، وَكَانَ أَوَّلَ مَنْ سَيَّبَ السُّيُوبَ " .
Sa'id bin Musayyib explained" al-bahira" as that animal which is not milked but for the idols. and none amongst the people milks them, and" as-sa'iba" as that animal which is let loose for the deities. Nothing is loaded over it, and Ibn Musayyib narrated that Abu Hurairah (RA) stated that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: I saw 'Amr bin 'Amir al-Khuzili dragging his intestines in fire and he was the first who devoted animals to deity.
Hadith 2866
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مَعْمَرٌ ، عَنْ الزُّهْرِيِّ ، عَنْ سَالِمٍ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " إِذَا مَاتَ الرَّجُلُ عُرِضَ عَلَيْهِ مَقْعَدُهُ بِالْغَدَاةِ وَالْعَشِيِّ ، إِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ الْجَنَّةِ فَالْجَنَّةُ ، وَإِنْ كَانَ مِنْ أَهْلِ النَّارِ فَالنَّارُ ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ يُقَالُ : هَذَا مَقْعَدُكَ الَّذِي تُبْعَثُ إِلَيْهِ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Ibn 'Umar (RA) reported that Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) said: When a person dies, he is shown his seat morning and evening. If he is one amongst the inmates of Paradise (he is shown his seat) in Paradise and if he is one amongst the denizens of Hell-Fire (he is shown his seat) in the Hell-Fire. Then it is said to him: That is your seat where you would be sent on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2879
وحَدَّثَنِي حَرْمَلَةُ بْنُ يَحْيَى التُّجِيبِيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا ابْنُ وَهْبٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي يُونُسُ ، عَنْ ابْنِ شِهَابٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي حَمْزَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عُمَرَ ، أَنَّ عَبْدَ اللَّهِ بْنَ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، يَقُولُ : " إِذَا أَرَادَ اللَّهُ بِقَوْمٍ عَذَابًا أَصَابَ الْعَذَابُ مَنْ كَانَ فِيهِمْ ، ثُمَّ بُعِثُوا عَلَى أَعْمَالِهِمْ " .
'Abdullah bin 'Umar (RA) reported: I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: When Allah intends to chastise a people, He chastises all of them then they would be raised according to their deeds.
