Hadith 359
وحَدَّثَنِي عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيل بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ عَطَاءٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، " أَنَّ ّرَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، جَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ ثِيَابَهُ ، ثُمَّ خَرَجَ إِلَى الصَّلَاةِ ، فَأُتِيَ بِهَدِيَّةٍ خُبْزٍ وَلَحْمٍ ، فَأَكَلَ ثَلَاثَ لُقَمٍ ، ثُمَّ صَلَّى بِالنَّاسِ ، وَمَا مَسَّ مَاءً " ،
Ibn Abbas (RA) reported: The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) dressed himself, and then went out for prayer, when he was presented with bread and meat. He took three morsels out of that, and then offered prayer along with other people and did not touch water.
Hadith 950
وحَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، عَنْ مَالِكِ بْنِ أَنَسٍ فِيمَا قُرِئَ عَلَيْهِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ مَعْبَدِ بْنِ كَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ بْنِ رِبْعِيٍّ أَنَّهُ كَانَ يُحَدِّثُ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مُرَّ عَلَيْهِ بِجَنَازَةٍ ، فَقَالَ : " مُسْتَرِيحٌ وَمُسْتَرَاحٌ مِنْهُ ، قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، مَا الْمُسْتَرِيحُ وَالْمُسْتَرَاحُ مِنْهُ ؟ ، فَقَالَ : الْعَبْدُ الْمُؤْمِنُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ نَصَبِ الدُّنْيَا ، وَالْعَبْدُ الْفَاجِرُ يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْهُ الْعِبَادُ وَالْبِلَادُ وَالشَّجَرُ وَالدَّوَابُّ " ،
Qatada bin Rib'i reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Whenever a bier passed before him, he said: He is the one to find relief and the one with (the departure of him) other will find relief. They said: Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) , who is al-Mustarih and al-Mustarah? Upon this he said: The believing servant finds relief from the troubles of the world, and in the death of a wicked person, the people, towns, trees and animals find relief.
Hadith 950
وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا إسحاق بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّزَّاقِ ، جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ سَعِيدِ بْنِ أَبِي هِنْدٍ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ ابْنٍ لِكَعْبِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي قَتَادَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ يَحْيَى بْنِ سَعِيدٍ : " يَسْتَرِيحُ مِنْ أَذَى الدُّنْيَا وَنَصَبِهَا إِلَى رَحْمَةِ اللَّهِ " .
In the hadith transmitted by Yahya bin Sa'id on the authority of Qatada (the words are): (The believing servant) finds relief from the troubles of the world and its hardships and (gets into) the Mercy of Allah.
Hadith 2022
وحَدَّثَنَا الْحَسَنُ بْنُ عَلِيٍّ الْحُلْوَانِيُّ ، وَأَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ أَبِي مَرْيَمَ ، أَخْبَرَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، أَخْبَرَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ ، عَنْ وَهْبِ بْنِ كَيْسَانَ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ أَنَّهُ ، قَالَ : أَكَلْتُ يَوْمًا مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَجَعَلْتُ آخُذُ مِنْ لَحْمٍ حَوْلَ الصَّحْفَةِ ، فَقَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " كُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيكَ " .
Umar bin Abu Salama reported: I (had the opportunity) one day to dine with Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) , and I picked up flesh from around the dish. Thereupon Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said: Eat from that which is near to you.
Hadith 2449
حَدَّثَنِي أَحْمَدُ بْنُ حَنْبَلٍ ، أَخْبَرَنَا يَعْقُوبُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي ، عَنْ الْوَلِيدِ بْنِ كَثِيرٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَمْرِو بْنِ حَلْحَلَةَ الدُّؤَلِيُّ ، أَنَّ ابْنَ شِهَابٍ حَدَّثَهُ ، أَنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ الْحُسَيْنِ حَدَّثَهُ ، " أَنَّهُمْ حِينَ قَدِمُوا الْمَدِينَةَ مِنْ عِنْدِ يَزِيدَ بْنِ مُعَاوِيَةَ مَقْتَلَ الْحُسَيْنِ بْنِ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، لَقِيَهُ الْمِسْوَرُ بْنُ مَخْرَمَةَ ، فَقَالَ لَهُ : هَلْ لَكَ إِلَيَّ مِنْ حَاجَةٍ تَأْمُرُنِي بِهَا ؟ قَالَ : فَقُلْتُ لَهُ : لَا ، قَالَ لَهُ : هَلْ أَنْتَ مُعْطِيَّ سَيْفَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ؟ فَإِنِّي أَخَافُ أَنْ يَغْلِبَكَ الْقَوْمُ عَلَيْهِ ، وَايْمُ اللَّهِ لَئِنْ أَعْطَيْتَنِيهِ ، لَا يُخْلَصُ إِلَيْهِ أَبَدًا حَتَّى تَبْلُغَ نَفْسِي ، إِنَّ عَلِيَّ بْنَ أَبِي طَالِبٍ خَطَبَ بِنْتَ أَبِي جَهْلٍ عَلَى فَاطِمَةَ ، فَسَمِعْتُ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ وَهُوَ يَخْطُبُ النَّاسَ فِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى مِنْبَرِهِ هَذَا ، وَأَنَا يَوْمَئِذٍ مُحْتَلِمٌ ، فَقَالَ : إِنَّ فَاطِمَةَ مِنِّي ، وَإِنِّي أَتَخَوَّفُ أَنْ تُفْتَنَ فِي دِينِهَا ، قَالَ : ثُمَّ ذَكَرَ صِهْرًا لَهُ مِنْ بَنِي عَبْدِ شَمْسٍ ، فَأَثْنَى عَلَيْهِ فِي مُصَاهَرَتِهِ إِيَّاهُ ، فَأَحْسَنَ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي فَصَدَقَنِي وَوَعَدَنِي ، فَأَوْفَى لِي ، وَإِنِّي لَسْتُ أُحَرِّمُ حَلَالًا ، وَلَا أُحِلُّ حَرَامًا ، وَلَكِنْ وَاللَّهِ لَا تَجْتَمِعُ بِنْتُ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَبِنْتُ عَدُوِّ اللَّهِ مَكَانًا وَاحِدًا أَبَدًا " .
(Imam Zain-ul-'Abidin) 'Ali bin Husain reported that when they came to Madinah from Yazid bin Mu'awiyah after the martyrdom of Husain bin 'Ali (RA) Miswar bin Makhramah met him and said to him: Is there any work for me which you ask me to do? I said to him: No. He again said to me: Would you not give me the sword of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) for I fear that the people may snatch it from you? By Allah, if you give that to me, no one would be able to take it away, so long as there is life in me. Verily ' Ali Ibn Abi Talib (RA) sent a proposal of marriage to the daughter of Abu Jahl in spite of (the fact that his wife) Fatima (had been living in his house). Thereupon I heard Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) say while addressing the people on the pulpit. I was adolescing in those days. He said: Fatima is a part of me and I fear that she may be put to trial in regard to religion. He then made a mention of his son-in law who had been from the tribe of 'Abd Shams and praised his behaviour as a son-in-law and said: Whatever he said to me he told the truth and whatever he promised he fulfilled it for me. I am not going to declare forbidden what is lawful and make lawful what is forbidden, but, by Allah, the daaghter of Allah's Messenger and the daughter of the enemy of Allah can never be combined at one place.
