Hadith 659
حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ عُمَرَ بْنِ مَيْسَرَةَ ، وَعُثْمَانُ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ بمعنى الإسناد والحديث ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أَحْمَدَ الزُّبَيْرِيُّ ، عَنْ يُونُسَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، قَالَ : " كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يُصَلِّي عَلَى الْحَصِيرِ وَالْفَرْوَةِ الْمَدْبُوغَةِ " .
Narrated Al-Mughirah ibn Shubah: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ used to pray on a mat and on a tanned skin.
Hadith 803
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ سَمُرَةَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ عُمَرُ لِسَعْدٍ : قَدْ شَكَاكَ النَّاسُ فِي كُلِّ شَيْءٍ حَتَّى فِي الصَّلَاةِ ، قَالَ : " أَمَّا أَنَا فَأَمُدُّ فِي الْأُولَيَيْنِ ، وَأَحْذِفُ فِي الْأُخْرَيَيْنِ ، وَلَا آلُو مَا اقْتَدَيْتُ بِهِ مِنْ صَلَاةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : ذَاكَ الظَّنُّ بِكَ " .
Jabir bin Samurah reported: Umar said to Saad: people complain against you for everything, even for prayer. He replied: I prolong the first two rak’ahs of prayer and make the last two rak’ahs brief; I do not fall short of following the prayer offered by the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He said: I think so about you.
Hadith 3592
حَدَّثَنَا حَفْصُ بْنُ عُمَرَ ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، عَنِ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرِو أَخِي الْمُغِيرَةِ بْنِ شُعْبَةَ ، عَنْ أُنَاسٍ مِنْ أَهْلِ حِمْصَ ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَبْعَثَ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ ، قَالَ : " كَيْفَ تَقْضِي إِذَا عَرَضَ لَكَ قَضَاءٌ ؟ ، قَالَ : أَقْضِي بِكِتَابِ اللَّهِ ، قَالَ : فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدْ فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : فَبِسُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : فَإِنْ لَمْ تَجِدْ فِي سُنَّةِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، وَلَا فِي كِتَابِ اللَّهِ ؟ ، قَالَ : أَجْتَهِدُ رَأْيِي وَلَا آلُو ، فَضَرَبَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ صَدْرَهُ ، وَقَالَ : الْحَمْدُ لِلَّهِ الَّذِي وَفَّقَ رَسُولَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ لِمَا يُرْضِي رَسُولَ اللَّهِ " .
Some companions of Muadh ibn Jabal said: When the Messenger of Allah ﷺ intended to send Muadh ibn Jabal to the Yemen, he asked: How will you judge when the occasion of deciding a case arises? He replied: I shall judge in accordance with Allah's Book. He asked: (What will you do) if you do not find any guidance in Allah's Book? He replied: (I shall act) in accordance with the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He asked: (What will you do) if you do not find any guidance in the Sunnah of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ and in Allah's Book? He replied: I shall do my best to form an opinion and I shall spare no effort. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then patted him on the breast and said: Praise be to Allah Who has helped the messenger of the Messenger of Allah to find something which pleases the Messenger of Allah.
Hadith 3593
حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى ، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنِي أَبُو عَوْنٍ ، عَنْ الْحَارِثِ بْنِ عَمْرٍو ، عَنْ نَاسٍ ، مِنْ أَصْحَابِ مُعَاذٍ ،عَنْ مُعَاذِ بْنِ جَبَلٍ ، أَنّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا بَعَثَهُ إِلَى الْيَمَنِ ، فَذَكَرَ مَعْنَاهُ .
Muadh bin Jabal said that when the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sent him to the Yemen. . . He then narrated the rest of the tradition to the same effect.
Hadith 4043
حَدَّثَنَا سُلَيْمَانُ بْنُ حَرْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ أَبِي عَوْنٍ ، قَالَ : سَمِعْتُ أَبَا صَالِحٍ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنْ عَلِيٍّ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، قَالَ : " أُهْدِيَتْ إِلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ حُلَّةٌ سِيَرَاءُ فَأَرْسَلَ بِهَا إِلَيَّ ، فَلَبِسْتُهَا فَأَتَيْتُهُ فَرَأَيْتُ الْغَضَبَ فِي وَجْهِهِ ، وَقَالَ : إِنِّي لَمْ أُرْسِلْ بِهَا إِلَيْكَ لِتَلْبَسَهَا ، وَأَمَرَنِي فَأَطَرْتُهَا بَيْنَ نِسَائِي " .
Ali said: A robe containing silk was presented to the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. He then sent it to me. I wore it and came to him. I saw him looking angry in his face. He then said: I did not send it to you to wear. He ordered me and I divided it among my women.
