Hadith 19
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ إِسْمَاعِيل بْنِ أُمَيَّةَ ، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ صَيْفِيٍّ ، عَنْ أَبِي مَعْبَدٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، لَمَّا بَعَثَ مُعَاذًا إِلَى الْيَمَنِ ، قَالَ : " إِنَّكَ تَقْدَمُ عَلَى قَوْمٍ أَهْلِ كِتَابٍ ، فَلْيَكُنْ أَوَّلَ مَا تَدْعُوهُمْ إِلَيْهِ عِبَادَةُ اللَّهِ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ، فَإِذَا عَرَفُوا اللَّهَ ، فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ خَمْسَ صَلَوَاتٍ فِي يَوْمِهِمْ وَلَيْلَتِهِمْ ، فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ، فَأَخْبِرْهُمْ أَنَّ اللَّهَ قَدْ فَرَضَ عَلَيْهِمْ زَكَاةً ، تُؤْخَذُ مِنْ أَغْنِيَائِهِمْ ، فَتُرَدُّ عَلَى فُقَرَائِهِمْ ، فَإِذَا أَطَاعُوا بِهَا فَخُذْ مِنْهُمْ ، وَتَوَقَّ كَرَائِمَ أَمْوَالِهِمْ " .
It is narrated on the authority of Ibn 'Abbas that when the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) sent Mu'adh towards Yemen (as governor) he said to him: Verily you would reach a community of the people of the Book, the very first thing to which you should call them is the worship of Allah, may His Glory be Magnificent, and when they become fully aware of Allah, instruct them that He has enjoined five prayers on them during the day and the night, and when the begin observing it, then instruct them that verily Allah has made Zakat obligatory for them which would be collected from the wealthy amongst them and distributed to their needy ones, and when they submit to it, then collect it from them and avoid (the temptation) of selecting the best (items) of their riches.
Hadith 21
حَدَّثَنَا أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عَبْدَةَ الضَّبِّيُّ ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الْعَزِيزِ يَعْنِي الدَّرَاوَرْدِيَّ ، عَنِ 3 الْعَلَاءِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ وَاللَّفْظُ لَهُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ بْنِ عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنِ يَعْقُوبَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أُمِرْتُ أَنْ أُقَاتِلَ النَّاسَ ، حَتَّى يَشْهَدُوا أَنْ ، لَا إِلَهَ إِلَّا اللَّهُ ، وَيُؤْمِنُوا بِي وَبِمَا جِئْتُ بِهِ ، فَإِذَا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ ، عَصَمُوا مِنِّي ، دِمَاءَهُمْ ، وَأَمْوَالَهُمْ إِلَّا بِحَقِّهَا ، وَحِسَابُهُمْ عَلَى اللَّهِ " .
It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that he heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: I have been commanded to fight against people, till they testify to the fact that there is no god but Allah, and believe in me (that) I am the messenger (from the Lord) and in all that I have brought. And when they do it, their blood and riches are guaranteed protection on my behalf except where it is justified by law, and their affairs rest with Allah.
Hadith 55
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، حَدَّثَنَا سُهَيْلٌ ، عَنْ عَطَاءِ بْنِ يَزِيدَ سَمِعَهُ وَهوُ يُحَدِّثُ أَبَا صَالِحٍ ، عَنْ تَمِيمٍ الدَّارِيِّ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ بِمِثْلِهِ .
Umayya bin Bistam narrates the same hadith of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) (may peace and blessings be upon him) on the authority of Tamim ad-Dari.
Hadith 125
حَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ مِنْهَالٍ الضَّرِيرُ ، وَأُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، وَاللَّفْظُ لِأُمَيَّةَ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَال : لَمَّا نَزَلَتْ عَلَى رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ لِلَّهِ مَا فِي السَّمَوَاتِ وَمَا فِي الأَرْضِ وَإِنْ تُبْدُوا مَا فِي أَنْفُسِكُمْ أَوْ تُخْفُوهُ يُحَاسِبْكُمْ بِهِ اللَّهُ فَيَغْفِرُ لِمَنْ يَشَاءُ وَيُعَذِّبُ مَنْ يَشَاءُ وَاللَّهُ عَلَى كُلِّ شَيْءٍ قَدِيرٌ سورة البقرة آية 284 ، قَالَ : فَاشْتَدَّ ذَلِكَ عَلَى أَصْحَابِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، فَأَتَوْا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، ثُمَّ بَرَكُوا عَلَى الرُّكَبِ ، فَقَالُوا : أَيْ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ كُلِّفْنَا مِنَ الأَعْمَالِ مَا نُطِيقُ ، الصَّلَاةُ ، وَالصِّيَامُ ، وَالْجِهَادُ ، وَالصَّدَقَةُ ، وَقَدْ أُنْزِلَتْ عَلَيْكَ هَذِهِ الآيَةُ وَلَا نُطِيقُهَا ، قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " أَتُرِيدُونَ أَنْ تَقُولُوا كَمَا قَالَ أَهْلُ الْكِتَابَيْنِ مِنْ قَبْلِكُمْ : سَمِعْنَا وَعَصَيْنَا ، بَلْ قُولُوا : سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ، قَالُوا : سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا ، وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ ، فَلَمَّا اقْتَرَأَهَا الْقَوْمُ ذَلَّتْ بِهَا أَلْسِنَتُهُمْ ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ فِي إِثْرِهَا آمَنَ الرَّسُولُ بِمَا أُنْزِلَ إِلَيْهِ مِنْ رَبِّهِ وَالْمُؤْمِنُونَ كُلٌّ آمَنَ بِاللَّهِ وَمَلائِكَتِهِ وَكُتُبِهِ وَرُسُلِهِ لا نُفَرِّقُ بَيْنَ أَحَدٍ مِنْ رُسُلِهِ وَقَالُوا سَمِعْنَا وَأَطَعْنَا غُفْرَانَكَ رَبَّنَا وَإِلَيْكَ الْمَصِيرُ سورة البقرة آية 285 ، فَلَمَّا فَعَلُوا ذَلِكَ ، نَسَخَهَا اللَّهُ تَعَالَى ، فَأَنْزَلَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ " لا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلا وُسْعَهَا لَهَا مَا كَسَبَتْ وَعَلَيْهَا مَا اكْتَسَبَتْ رَبَّنَا لا تُؤَاخِذْنَا إِنْ نَسِينَا أَوْ أَخْطَأْنَا سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، رَبَّنَا وَلا تَحْمِلْ عَلَيْنَا إِصْرًا كَمَا حَمَلْتَهُ عَلَى الَّذِينَ مِنْ قَبْلِنَا سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، رَبَّنَا وَلا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ ، وَاعْفُ عَنَّا وَاغْفِرْ لَنَا وَارْحَمْنَا أَنْتَ مَوْلانَا فَانْصُرْنَا عَلَى الْقَوْمِ الْكَافِرِينَ سورة البقرة آية 286 ، قَالَ : نَعَمْ " .
It is reported on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) that when it was revealed to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) : To Allah belongs whatever is in the heavens and whatever is in the earth and whether you disclose that which is in your mind or conceal it, Allah will call you to account according to it. Then He forgives whom He pleases and chastises whom He Pleases; and Allah is over everything Potent" (ii. 284). the Companions of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) felt it hard and severe and they came to the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and sat down on their knees and said: Messenger of Allah, we were assigned some duties which were within our power to perform, such as prayer, fasting, struggling (in the cause of Allah), charity. Then this (the above-mentioned) verse was revealed unto you and it is beyond our power to live up to it. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Do you intend to say what the people of two books (Jews and Christians) said before you:" We hear and disobey"? You should rather say:" We hear and we obey, (we seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord! and unto Thee is the return." And they said:" We hear and we obey, (we seek) Thy forgiveness, Our Lord! and unto Thee is the return." When the people recited it and it smoothly flowed on their tongues, then Allah revealed immediately afterwards:" The Apostle (ﷺ) believes in that which is sent down unto him from his Lord, and so do the believers. Each one believes in Allah and His Angels and His Books and His Apostles, saying: We differentiate not between any of His Apostles and they say: We hearken and we obey: (we seek) Thy forgiveness, our Lord! and unto Thee is the return" (ii. 285). When they did that, Allah abrogated this (verse) and the Great, Majestic Allah revealed:" Allah burdens not a soul beyond its capacity. It gets every good that it earns and it suffers every ill that it earns. Our Lord, punish us not if we forget or make a mistake." (The Prophet (ﷺ) said:) Yes, our Lord! do not lay on us a burden as Thou didst lay on those before us. (The Prophet (ﷺ) said:) Yes, our Lord, impose not on us (burdens) which we have not the strength to bear (The Prophet (ﷺ) said:) Yes, and pardon us and grant us protection! and have mercy on us. Thou art our Patron, so grant us victory over the disbelieving people" (ii. 286). He (the Lord) said: Yes.
Hadith 274
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، وَمُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الأَعْلَى ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا الْمُعْتَمِرُ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، قَالَ : حَدَّثَنِي بَكْرُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، عَنِ ابْنِ الْمُغِيرَةِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، " أَنّ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَسَحَ عَلَى الْخُفَّيْنِ ، وَمُقَدَّمِ رَأْسِهِ ، وَعَلَى عِمَامَتِهِ " .
Ibn Mughira narrated it from his father: The Apostle of Allah (ﷺ) wiped over his socks and over his forehead and over his turban.
Hadith 389
حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، قَالَ : أَرْسَلَنِي أَبِي إِلَى بَنِي حَارِثَةَ ، قَالَ : وَمَعِي غُلَامٌ لَنَا ، أَوْ صَاحِبٌ لَنَا ، فَنَادَاهُ مُنَادٍ مِنْ حَائِطٍ بِاسْمِهِ ، قَالَ : وَأَشْرَفَ الَّذِي مَعِي عَلَى الْحَائِطِ ، فَلَمْ يَرَ شَيْئًا ، فَذَكَرْتُ ذَلِكَ لِأَبِي ، فَقَالَ : لَوْ شَعَرْتُ أَنَّكَ تَلْقَ هَذَا ، لَمْ أُرْسِلْكَ ، وَلَكِنْ إِذَا سَمِعْتَ صَوْتًا ، فَنَادِ بِالصَّلَاةِ ، فَإِنِّي سَمِعْتُ أَبَا هُرَيْرَةَ يُحَدِّثُ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ ، أَنَّهُ قَالَ : " إِنَّ الشَّيْطَانَ ، إِذَا نُودِيَ بِالصَّلَاةِ ، وَلَّى وَلَهُ حُصَاصٌ " .
Suhail reported that his father sent him to Banu Haritha along with a boy or a man. Someone called him by his name from an enclosure. He (the narrator) said: The person with me looked towards the enclosure, but saw nothing. I made a mention of that to my father. He said: If I knew that you would meet such a situation I would have never sent you (there), but (bear in mind) whenever you hear such a call (from the evil spirits) pronounce the Adhan. for I have heard Abu Hurairah (RA) say that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: Whenever Adhan is proclaimed, Satan runs back vehemently.
Hadith 595
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، أَنَّهُمْ قَالُوا : يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ، ذَهَبَ أَهْلُ الدُّثُورِ بِالدَّرَجَاتِ الْعُلَى ، وَالنَّعِيمِ الْمُقِيمِ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ قُتَيْبَةَ ، عَنِ اللَّيْثِ ، إِلَّا أَنَّهُ أَدْرَجَ فِي حَدِيثِ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَوْلَ أَبِي صَالِحٍ : ثُمَّ رَجَعَ فُقَرَاءُ المهاجرين 61 ، إِلَى آخِرِ الْحَدِيثِ ، وَزَادَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ ، يَقُولُ سُهَيْلٌ : إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ ، إِحْدَى عَشْرَةَ ، فَجَمِيعُ ذَلِكَ كُلِّهِ ثَلَاثَةٌ وَثَلَاثُونَ .
Abu Hurairah (RA) narrated it from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that they (the poor among the emigrants) said: Messenger of Allah, the possessors of great wealth have obtained the highest ranks and lasting bliss, and the rest of the hadith is the same as transmitted by Qutaiba on the authority of Laith except that he inserted the words of Abu Salih in the narration of Abu Hurairah (RA) that " the poor of the emigrants came back," to the end of the hadith,, but this addition was made that Suhail said (that every part of the supplication, i. e. Glorification of Allah, His Praise and declaration of His Greatness) should be uttered eleven times making the total as thirty-three.
Hadith 857
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " مَنِ اغْتَسَلَ ثُمَّ أَتَى الْجُمُعَةَ فَصَلَّى مَا قُدِّرَ لَهُ ، ثُمَّ أَنْصَتَ حَتَّى يَفْرُغَ مِنْ خُطْبَتِهِ ، ثُمَّ يُصَلِّي مَعَهُ غُفِرَ لَهُ مَا بَيْنَهُ وَبَيْنَ الْجُمُعَةِ الْأُخْرَى ، وَفَضْلُ ثَلَاثَةِ أَيَّامٍ " .
Abu-Hurairah reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: He who took a bath and then came for Jumu'a prayer and then prayed what was fixed for him, then kept silence till the Imam finished the sermon, and then prayed along with him, his sins between that time and the next Friday would be forgiven, and even of three days wore.
Hadith 1014
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ . ح وحَدَّثَنِيهِ أَحْمَدُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْأَوْدِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا خَالِدُ بْنُ مَخْلَدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي سُلَيْمَانُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ بِلَالٍ ، كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ فِي حَدِيثِ رَوْحٍ " مِنَ الْكَسْبِ الطَّيِّبِ ، فَيَضَعُهَا فِي حَقِّهَا " ، وَفِي حَدِيثِ سُلَيْمَانَ : " فَيَضَعُهَا فِي مَوْضِعِهَا " ،
This hadith has been narrated through another chain of transmitters with a change of words. In the hadith transmitted by Rauh (the words are): "Out of the honest earning and its spending at what is its (due) right"; and in the hadith transmitted by Sulaiman (the words are): "And its spending at its proper place."
Hadith 1232
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا حَبِيبُ بْنُ الشَّهِيدِ ، عَنْ بَكْرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَنَسٌ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ ، أَنَّهُ رَأَى النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " جَمَعَ بَيْنَهُمَا بَيْنَ الْحَجِّ وَالْعُمْرَةِ " ، قَالَ : فَسَأَلْتُ ابْنَ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : أَهْلَلْنَا بِالْحَجِّ ، فَرَجَعْتُ إِلَى أَنَسٍ فَأَخْبَرْتُهُ مَا قَالَ ابْنُ عُمَرَ ، فَقَالَ : كَأَنَّمَا كُنَّا صِبْيَانًا .
Bakr bin 'Abdullah reported: Anas (RA) had narrated to us that he saw Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) combining Hajj and 'Umrah. He (Bakr) said: I asked (about it) from Ibn 'Umar, whereupon he said: We entered into the state of Ihram for Hajj (only). I came to Anas and told him what Ibn 'Umar (RA) had said, whereupon he remarked: (You are treating us) as if we were children.
Hadith 1302
وَحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنِ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، بِمَعْنَى حَدِيثِ أَبِي زُرْعَةَ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ .
A hadith like this is narrated on the authority of Abu Hurairah (RA) .
Hadith 1405
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حدثنا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حدثنا رَوْحٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ ، عَنِ الْحَسَنِ بْنِ مُحَمَّدٍ ، عَنْ سَلَمَةَ بْنِ الْأَكْوَعِ ، وَجَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ : " أن رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَتَانَا فَأَذِنَ لَنَا فِي الْمُتْعَةِ " .
Salama bin al. Akwa' and Jabir bin'Abdullah (RA) reported: Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) came to us and permitted us to contract temporary marriage.
Hadith 1582
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Amr bin Dinar with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1615
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ طَاوُسٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ ، عَنْ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " أَلْحِقُوا الْفَرَائِضَ بِأَهْلِهَا ، فَمَا تَرَكَتِ الْفَرَائِضُ فَلِأَوْلَى رَجُلٍ ذَكَرٍ " .
Ibn 'Abbas (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Give the shares to those who are entitled to them, and what is left from those who are entitled to it goes to the nearest male heir.
Hadith 1620
حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ زَيْدِ بْنِ أَسْلَمَ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ " أَنَّهُ حَمَلَ عَلَى فَرَسٍ فِي سَبِيلِ اللَّهِ ، فَوَجَدَهُ عِنْدَ صَاحِبِهِ وَقَدْ أَضَاعَهُ وَكَانَ قَلِيلَ الْمَالِ ، فَأَرَادَ أَنْ يَشْتَرِيَهُ فَأَتَى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ فَذَكَرَ ذَلِكَ لَهُ ، فَقَالَ : لَا تَشْتَرِهِ وَإِنْ أُعْطِيتَهُ بِدِرْهَمٍ ، فَإِنَّ مَثَلَ الْعَائِدِ فِي صَدَقَتِهِ كَمَثَلِ الْكَلْبِ يَعُودُ فِي قَيْئِهِ " ،
Zaid bin Aslam reported on the authority of his father that 'Umar (RA) donated a horse in the path of Allah. He found that it had languished in the hand of its possessor, and he was a man of meagre resources He (Hadrat 'Umar) intended to buy it. He came to Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) and made a mention of that to him, whereupon he said: Don't buy that even if you get it for a dirham for he who gets back the charity is like a dog which swallows its vomit.
Hadith 1004
وَحَدَّثَنَاهُ أَبُو كُرَيْبٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ . ح وَحَدَّثَنِي الْحَكَمُ بْنُ مُوسَى ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعَيْبُ بْنُ إِسْحَاقَ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ هُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ح ، وحَدَّثَنَا أَبُو بَكْرِ بْنُ أَبِي شَيْبَةَ ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ عَوْنٍ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ أَمَّا أَبُو أُسَامَةَ ، وَرَوْحٌ ، فَفِي حَدِيثِهِمَا : فَهَلْ لِي أَجْرٌ ، كَمَا قَالَ يَحْيَى بْنُ سَعِيدٍ : وَأَمَّا شُعَيْبٌ ، وَجَعْفَرٌ ، فَفِي حَدِيثِهِمَا : أَفَلَهَا أَجْرٌ كَرِوَايَةِ ابْنِ بِشْرٍ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Hisham bin 'Urwa with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 1720
وحَدَّثَنَا سُوَيْدُ بْنُ سَعِيدٍ ، حَدَّثَنِي حَفْصٌ يَعْنِي ابْنَ مَيْسَرَةَ الصَّنْعَانِيَّ ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ عُقْبَةَ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ عَجْلَانَ جَمِيعًا ، عَنْ أَبِي الزِّنَادِ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ مِثْلَ مَعْنَى حَدِيثِ وَرْقَاءَ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Abu az-Zinad with the same chain of transmitters.
Hadith 2120
وحَدَّثَنِي مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، حَدَّثَنَا عُثْمَانُ بْنُ عُثْمَانَ الْغَطَفَانِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا عُمَرُ بْنُ نَافِعٍ. ح وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ عُمَرَ بْنِ نَافِعٍ ، بِإِسْنَادِ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ مِثْلَهُ وَأَلْحَقَا التَّفْسِيرَ فِي الْحَدِيثِ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of 'Umar bin Nafi' with the same chain of transmitters and Muhammad bin Muthanna as well as 'Umar bin Nafi have given the same exposition (of the word Qaza') in their narration.
Hadith 2133
وحدثني أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ . ح وحدثنا عَلِيُّ بْنُ حُجْرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْمَاعِيلُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ عُلَيَّةَ كِلَاهُمَا ، عَنْ رَوْحِ بْنِ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ ، بِمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ ابْنِ عُيَيْنَةَ غَيْرَ أَنَّهُ لَمْ يَذْكُرْ وَلَا نُنْعِمُكَ عَيْنًا .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Ibn Uyaina, but there is no mention of this: "We will not allow you to cool your eyes."
Hadith 2137
وحدثنا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ ، أَخْبَرَنِي جَرِيرٌ . ح وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ . ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى ، وَابْنُ بَشَّارٍ ، قالا : حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ جَعْفَرٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ كُلُّهُمْ ، عَنْ مَنْصُورٍ بِإِسْنَادِ زُهَيْرٍ ، فَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ جَرِيرٍ وَرَوْح فَكَمِثْلِ حَدِيثِ زُهَيْرٍ بِقِصَّتِهِ وَأَمَّا حَدِيثُ شُعْبَةَ ، فَلَيْسَ فِيهِ إِلَّا ذِكْرُ تَسْمِيَةِ الْغُلَامِ وَلَمْ يَذْكُرِ الْكَلَامَ الْأَرْبَعَ .
This hadith has been reported on the authority of Shu'bah and there is no mention but of the fact about giving the name to the servant and there is no mention of the four expressions (of remembrance) and he did not mention the four words
Hadith 2590
حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامٍ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " لَا يَسْتُرُ اللَّهُ عَلَى عَبْدٍ فِي الدُّنْيَا إِلَّا سَتَرَهُ اللَّهُ يَوْمَ الْقِيَامَةِ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) as saying: The servant (whose fault) Allah conceals in this world, Allah would also conceal (his faults) on the Day of Resurrection.
Hadith 2676
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحُ بْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ الْعَلَاءِ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، قَالَ : كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ يَسِيرُ فِي طَرِيقِ مَكَّةَ ، فَمَرَّ عَلَى جَبَلٍ يُقَالُ لَهُ جُمْدَانُ ، فَقَالَ : " سِيرُوا هَذَا جُمْدَانُ سَبَقَ الْمُفَرِّدُونَ " ، قَالُوا : وَمَا الْمُفَرِّدُونَ يَا رَسُولَ اللَّهِ ؟ قَالَ : " الذَّاكِرُونَ اللَّهَ كَثِيرًا وَالذَّاكِرَاتُ " .
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) was travelling along the path leading to Makkah that he happened to pass by a mountain called Jumdan. He said: Proceed on, it is Jumdan, Mufarradun have gone ahead. They (the Companions of the Holy Prophet) said: Allah's Messenger, who are Mufarradun? He said: They are those males and females who remember Allah much.
Hadith 2728
حَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ يَعْنِي ابْنَ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ وَهُوَ ابْنُ الْقَاسِمِ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ ، عَنْ أَبِيهِ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، أَنَّ فَاطِمَةَ أَتَتِ النَّبِيَّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ تَسْأَلُهُ خَادِمًا وَشَكَتِ الْعَمَلَ ، فَقَالَ : مَا أَلْفَيْتِيهِ عِنْدَنَا ، قَالَ : " أَلَا أَدُلُّكِ عَلَى مَا هُوَ خَيْرٌ لَكِ مِنْ خَادِمٍ ؟ تُسَبِّحِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتَحْمَدِينَ ثَلَاثًا وَثَلَاثِينَ ، وَتُكَبِّرِينَ أَرْبَعًا وَثَلَاثِينَ حِينَ تَأْخُذِينَ مَضْجَعَكِ " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported that Fatima came to Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) and asked for a servant and told him of the hardship of household work. He said: You would not be able to get a servant from us. May I not direct you to what is better than the servant for you? Recite Subhaana Allah thirty-three times, al- Hamdu li-Allah thirty-three times and Allah-o-Akbar thirty-four times as you go to bed.
Hadith 2894
وحَدَّثَنِي أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا رَوْحٌ ، عَنْ سُهَيْلٍ بِهَذَا الْإِسْنَادِ نَحْوَهُ ، وَزَادَ ، فَقَالَ أَبِي : إِنْ رَأَيْتَهُ فَلَا تَقْرَبَنَّهُ .
This hadith has been narrated on the authority of Suhail with the same chain of transmitters but with this addition: "My father said: If you see that, do not even go near it."
Hadith 2947
حَدَّثَنَا أُمَيَّةُ بْنُ بِسْطَامَ الْعَيْشِيُّ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَزِيدُ بْنُ زُرَيْعٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ ، عَنْ الْحَسَنِ ، عَنْ زِيَادِ بْنِ رِيَاحٍ ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ، قَالَ : " بَادِرُوا بِالْأَعْمَالِ سِتًّا الدَّجَّالَ ، وَالدُّخَانَ ، وَدَابَّةَ الْأَرْضِ ، وَطُلُوعَ الشَّمْسِ مِنْ مَغْرِبِهَا ، وَأَمْرَ الْعَامَّةِ وَخُوَيْصَّةَ أَحَدِكُمْ " ،
Abu Hurairah (RA) reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying: Hasten in performing these good deeds before these six things (happen): (the appearance) of the Dijjal, the smoke, the beast of the earth, the rising of the sun from the west, the general turmoil (leading to large-scale massacre) and death of masses and individuals.
