Hadith 1175
حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْمَلِكِ بْنِ أَبِي الشَّوَارِبِ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الْوَاحِدِ بْنُ زِيَادٍ ، حَدَّثَنَا عَاصِمٌ ، عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ ، قَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، وَالْوِتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ " ، قُلْتُ : أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ غَلَبَتْنِي عَيْنِي ، أَرَأَيْتَ إِنْ نِمْتُ ؟ ، قَالَ : " اجْعَلْ أَرَأَيْتَ عِنْدَ ذَلِكَ النَّجْمِ " ، فَرَفَعْتُ رَأْسِي ، فَإِذَا السِّمَاكُ ، ثُمَّ أَعَادَ ، فَقَالَ : قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : " صَلَاةُ اللَّيْلِ مَثْنَى مَثْنَى ، وَالْوِتْرُ رَكْعَةٌ قَبْلَ الصُّبْحِ " .
´Abu Mijlaz narrated that Ibn ‘Umar said:` “The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: ‘Night prayers are to be offered two by two, and Witr is one Rak’ah.’ I said: ‘What do you think if I become drowsy and I want to sleep?’ He said: ‘Put “what do you think” up there with that star? (i.e., don’t think about it at all).’ I raised my head and saw As- Simak.* He repeated that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said, ‘Night prayers are to be offered two by two, and Witr is one Rak’ah, before dawn.’” * Here, As-Simak refers to a star or stars, either Arcturus (As-Simak Ar-Ramih) or Spica, also called Alpha Virginis (As-Simak Al-A'zal).
Hadith 2818
حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ إِسْحَاق الْوَاسِطِيُّ النَّاقِدُ ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ إِسْحَاق ، عَنْ يَزِيدَ بْنِ حَيَّانَ ، سَمِعْتُ أَبَا مِجْلَزٍ ، يُحَدِّثُ عَنْ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ " أَنَّ رَايَةَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَتْ سَوْدَاءَ ، وَلِوَاؤُهُ أَبْيَضُ " .
It was narrated from Ibn ‘Abbas that the flag of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) was black, and his standard was white.
Hadith 2835
حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى بْنُ حَكِيمٍ ، وَحَفْصُ بْنُ عَمْرٍو ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الرَّحْمَنِ بْنُ مَهْدِيٍّ ، ح وحَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيل ، أَنْبَأَنَا وَكِيعٌ ، قَالَا : حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ ، عَنْ أَبِي هَاشِمٍ الرُّمَّانِيِّ ، قَالَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّهِ : هُوَ يَحْيَى بْنُ الْأَسْوَدِ ، عَنْ أَبِي مِجْلَزٍ ، عَنْ قَيْسِ بْنِ عُبَادٍ ، قَالَ : " سَمِعْتُ أَبَا ذَرٍّ يُقْسِمُ : لَنَزَلَتْ هَذِهِ الْآيَةُ فِي هَؤُلَاءِ الرَّهْطِ السِّتَّةِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ هَذَانِ خَصْمَانِ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي رَبِّهِمْ سورة الحج آية 19 إِلَى قَوْلِهِ إِنَّ اللَّهَ يَفْعَلُ مَا يُرِيدُ سورة الحج آية 14 فِي حَمْزَةَ بْنِ عَبْدِ الْمُطَّلِبِ ، وَعَلِيِّ بْنِ أَبِي طَالِبٍ ، وَعُبَيْدَةَ بْنِ الْحَارِثِ ، وَعُتْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَشَيْبَةَ بْنِ رَبِيعَةَ ، وَالْوَلِيدِ بْنِ عُتْبَةَ اخْتَصَمُوا فِي الْحُجَجِ يَوْمَ بَدْرٍ " .
´It was narrated that Qais bin ‘Ubaid said:` “I heard Abu Dharr swearing that these verses were revealed concerning those six people on the Day of Badr: ‘These two opponents (believers and disbelievers) dispute with each other about their Lord.”[22:19] to the words “Verily, Allah does what he wills.’[22:14] (that is) Hamzah bin ‘Abdul-Muttalib, ‘Ali bin Abi Talib, ‘Ubaidah bin Al-Harith, ‘Utbah bin Rabi’ah, Shaibah bin Rabi’ah and Al-Walid bin ‘Utbah. They argued with one another on the Day of Badr.”
